Yo man, how much it cost living in nyc?

I played the division for 340 hours now. I've never been in new york before, but last week i was for the first time. Just because of the diviosion's recreation i had all the time the feeling i've been there before! Its amazing well made. And btw sorry for that bad english XD

Such an accurate representation of new york, its kind of unbelievable. I just made a sort of time lapse of this game and it has my jaw to the floor

Only I would have preferred if they had really stuck to the not-really-promised-by-expected 1:1 rendition. They left out a lot of streets, and they didn't bother renumbering them (because those that are still in are close to RL). Worst bit is having a "Lexington Event Center" as a mission location, and removing the actual Lexington Ave.

@@evanreyes_ There was a beautiful, thick atmosphere in the gameplay demos, thoroughly missing from the final game.. :/ The fluidity of the animations was better than in any of Naughty Dog's recent entries. What an abysmal lie it was.

@@Argameus the animations would've been buggy since we all know that people would become try hards so they have to lower it to make it more fun to play and not a buggy mess in a real high level fire fight. The atmosphere is literally the same thing

@2:16 i thought that was the real MSG (Madison Square Garden) for a minute then the next slide happened and i was impressed pretty accurate for a game to handle that

+kasra khatir The Empire state building is copyrighted in a way, just google it. However not all buildings in NY are copyrighted, so they could recreate most of them.

There is such a thing as compulsory licensing. We ought to be more serious about using it, and copyright holders whose properties are in public view should not be able to ask disproportionate compensation when their unavoidable eyesores are included simply for accuracy's sake. Were the building central to the game or otherwise paraded around for the purpose of drawing customers, that would be different. As it stands, Ubi should have replaced it with a smoldering ruin rather than this idiotic companion piece to Hearst Tower.

+Bizarro It's kinda dependent on where and when you are. Outside of the subway (which even then I don't see rats too often, and rarely not on/in the tracks), the only times I've seen rat about was at night in areas where they'd have easy access to a lot of food (so usually by schools).

real life? never played that game.

Ubisoft have always been great at this stuff, I'd actually say the best. Yeah Rockstar are the 'Kings' of open world apparently (which I disagree with when comparing it to TW3s world) but Ubisoft creates near perfect map designs to look like the real stuff, The Crews USA, Watch Dogs Chicargo, AC unitys Paris, AC Syndicates England, ect.

I think GTA4's Liberty City is still the best urban environment in any video game yet.

It's not only landmarks. The other day, out of curiosity I looked at the world map to see what cross street I was on. I then compared it to Google Maps Street view. I was shocked how faithful the recreation was. Amazing Job Ubisoft.

The Division's version of New York looks stunning... But, being from Montreal, I would love to see a game like this set in Canada someplace. Would be pretty cool!

Nothing beats seeing New York in person.

I have to say, division nailed midtown NYC really well. And DUMBO was 90% accurate.

if this game had an offline mode, I'd be all over it. I love getting to play in the city. started with spiderman 2 and eventually gta iv. I need more sandbox nyc games!

I', not exactly sure why... but i've been everywhere on the map in the division and everywhere on the map in nyc dozens of times and i've never once recalled a landmark besides the post office, (obviously) and the view when you first start the game and you're in downtown brooklyn and you see the legendary view of the manhattan bridge. I'm not sure if it's that the division looks maybe too cartoony...or maybe it's that i'm always running while playing? i mean i didn't even recognize msg.

i live in manhattan, and play the division... i got to loot what my apartment would have been, only got a scarf though...

I really like the in-game post office a lot more than the real-life one surprisingly, which is a shame because it truly is a nice building.

Freedom tower is in a part of NY that isn't playable.

Shame about the multiple buildings that had to be changed due to copyright issues. New York isn't New York without the Empire State or Chrysler buildings.

People could easily confuse the MetLife tower.

That Empire State Building tho...... GTA4 did a good job on some of the iconic buildings, I wonder why division can't get around the ESB issue

In two year's time HDR gaming will be pretty accessible and thus games will look very closely real life, since ALL games are designed to be rendered on 1000:1 contrast Monitors with at max 100% sRGB spectrum of colours and 300 CD/m2 of brightness New monitors that will support HDR will be at the Rec. 2020 Standard which will be 1000CD/m2 brightness and at least a close to infinite contrast ratio; OLED supports this. As for colours it will be very close to what the human eye will be able to see.

Watching this in 2020 is... unsettling.

So proud to be from New York.

Looking back on the D1 graphics they look a little better than now especially the lighting looks better too, I noticed with the Ubisoft games they are even downgrading their graphics I guess for it to run smoother, personally I prefer the old Ubisoft graphics when siege, D1, and they other game’s graphics than the new colorful bright graphics with horrible lighting and the characters almost look like they are on the brink of turning into a potato.
