Great idea to run ridgeway but I teamed mine with eclipse protocol as a technician with 1 blue and 5 yellows. Shield is extra strong with the artificer hive. With the extra tiers hive and shield more powerful. Backfire still deals a nice amount of damage with no reds or smg boosts. Love your build but one tip I would give with your build is use a secondary weapon with sadist. With the backfire it is possible to stop all bleed using the eclipse with the mods and using hazard attachments. Happy gaming.

I recommend 2nd weapon is the mop Incase your in critical condition to get your heath back and you should try 4 ongoing directive ridgeway chest and creeping death omg it fun with this build

I made that build as soon as I got the chest piece. I already had it in mind when they said the chest piece was coming out. You just have to have some blues

Have you tried using the the Carnage for a secondary with this build? Ridgeway will drop in missions for people who already have it. So you could play with someone who has it and if it drops they can share it with you.

What if i put belstone armor on holster and kneepads, for armor per kill, will that be more effective??

Trying the build out, but my shield drops instantly. I run 4 shields and get +1from electronics. I run the electronics special hive. But the shield gets obliterated from the first opponent. What am I missing? Also, it's very very rare there's more then 2 enemies within regen range making you super squishy. Oh, and that's just on heroic. I can NOT get this ubild to work, at all. Super squishy, mediocre DPS. I really have to missing something. The Bleeding is np with 90% bleed resist though, which is nice.. but I seem to be dead after the first reload anyways :P

I wonder if this would work with FI cuz it's armor Regen not bonus armor.??? Then you could run and gun with a friend playing DPS and keep them up

It might be worth noting for run and gun DPS players that this build plays differently compared to typical armor on kill or armor regen builds in that you need to be very careful to pace yourself and not kill everything too quickly or there is nothing alive close enough to repair your armor. This may sound like a little thing but it actually requires as many nearby live NPC's as possible--hopefully at least 5--to keep your armor procing. If you watch closely how Patrick plays this build compared to his normal play style you will notice lots of pauses where he would normally dispatch and move on. I thought he was just pausing to take a little damage so he could showcase the "immortal" aspects of the Ridgeway chest piece, but he is actually waiting for the bleed ticks. It is also really important to remember that in more open spaces without a lot of NPC's clustered together you get very little armor regen. Also if you are in a thick group and it goes pear shaped and you want to bail to a safe distance you lose the bleed / regen. I love how hard it hits but it requires a lot of discipline and I struggled with reigning in the blood lust you get when you are face tanking large groups at spawn doors and such. Normally with a typical armor on kill build the faster you kill and move on to the next one the better--pauses can put you on the floor. This build actually requires pauses and more careful target selection. Patrick--as always I very much admire your work. Especially on tricky builds like these. I played it for a few hours and concluded it is not a good fit for me personally. This chest piece is really an odd duck as it is so hard to get and *seems* quite powerful--like there just has to be *something* that will make it worth all that effort. I think it will be one of those that ends up sitting in the stash for a long time until getting buffed in an update and finally hits its stride.

So I'm trying this build in Summit on solo heroic with no directives and I'm getting absolutely shredded by NPC's. I believe they got a huge damage buff a couple days ago. That the devs didn't mention of course

They did - Marc of Blades bullwark shield build with 3 improvised pcs and 70% protection from elite mods was shredding Summit. The developers stealth fixed to neutralize his build. Buffed AI on reds and purps.

I love your videos! Half of my builds are based on yours. One comment tho: a few times I've seen you recommend putting +5% damage mod on a shield - it only works with the Striker Shield of the Firewall specialization (only within that 10m blue cone), so in this case it will do absolutely nothing - I've just tested it as well. Put holstered regen in instead, it will be useful in this build, and at least it will do something :) Take care and keep up the good work. Beerded_GREG

Tried it out but did not work out for me. People keep shooting me from the back and would need more enemies to "farm" for regen which was not always possible. Gave it a try though.

He had them on the run!! 😂😂

Would clutch be good with the bleed chest?

Im not going to finalize any of my gear sets until my watch is maxed out 50/50 all the way, right now Im like 43/50 all the way around, I kept it balanced the entire time. I wanted it completed around the same time for everything. Im noticing all the Shield builds now-a-days, I was never too into the Shield except for Division 1 with the Classified D3-FNC 6 piece.

Don’t actually need bleed resist. The heal from ridgeway nullifies the backfire bleed. Been running them together for awhile

The decreased sprint speed from being hit with bleed is bad though. More annoying than that is also the fact when the bleed status is removed from you, it also causes you to exit sprint and go to a walk. I find that extremely annoying

@@ragnarokfps yea I have a gazard protection build for using the backfire that cancels the screen effect and run speed as well. Don’t use the ridgeway with it though

Patrick you always have great builds. Please do me a favor and start veering away from shields in your build maybe make it a recommendation but the game is so overshadowed with this everywhere since they made them buffed from blues its terrible they should have made this system for all skills theb this wouldnt be a problem but it ruins the game ya got everyone trying to be a tank thats not its crazy theres so many skills please you are one of the most creative buildmakers on here while ive seen you do ones that are similar they always are differnt enough than you make these awesome builds no one else has. You and i dentity are ny 2 favorite makers and your genuine creativity its what drives me to try outside the box. They really need to find a balance between gear 1.0 and 2.0.

Made the build, don't know whats goin on but it's just not working. I make sure to hit multiple NPC's to get the armor regen goin but I'm dead before anything happens. I'm at 95.3 bleed res so that's not an issue. Just seems the vest isn't working like it should be. Even in the shooting range I'm not getting that armor regen like you are. What have I done wrong? Any info would greatly be appreciated. Luv yer builds otherwise 🤘🏻

Nice build I have tried every variant in PVE with ridgeway as you say it’s situational as if it’s 1 vs 1 does not heal fast enough they hit so hard in legendary. Could you do a build for legendary solo with backfire? As much survivability as possible? Thinking 3 providence 2 sockolov 1 grupo 4 blue 2 red, crit damage everywhere maybe try get 200 chd try aim for 400% chd when at full stacks

I like the idea behind this build too.. I utilized the Backfire with an existing regen build at 47000 regen/s. but I diddent have Ridgeways chest yet.... Now that I do... I used 2 Golan.. Firm Handshake.. Fox's Prayer and 1 Belstone for 1% armor Regen. I only had 2 Bleed Resistance mods though. It's a beginning.. I like what I see so far...... WHAT NOW??? FARM Farm farm farm farm! Lololololb NEXT.. i try it with 4 pc Eclipse. and Firm handshake.. Although without the regen itll suck lol

I run creeping death with mine can’t play rn no power cuz of storm

I built this with tech and firewall 35k regen, 30 status, 1.3m armor, backfire 80+ bleed resist, artificer hive; shield, creep death, 2 golen, 2 ceska, Gila and it failed bad last night. I don’t see the bleed happening or regen. I even went to shoot range and don’t see it happen. My watch level is 900+ and I switched up few different ways. I have a fierce backfire build but couldn’t get this to work.

Great build, I've been wanting to try the Summit to get this backpack but need help finding a group on Xbox. One piece of feedback, I do public speaking for a living, please try not to skip around so much. People can only understand on idea at a time. When you skip around the build description it dilutes your message and creates confusion. Keep up the good builds and thanks again.

So I've played The Summit once. Over the course of 3 days starting last Friday to Sunday on Challenging. Post-patch. Almost every time I collected a key and opened the loot chest, I would get an exotic piece. I got all 5 pieces in one Summit run on one mode. I don't think that was the case before. Also, I only needed to donate 3 of each faction key. I think it was 50 keys before. And you will only need to kill 2 Rogue Agents and 2 Hunters instead of whatever else it was. So in essence, the whole process is less of a headache now.

You still need to kill 3 named enemies from each faction as well

I tried this out when the backfire came out, but the wicked backpack talent, while it seems amazing, has a cooldown timer before it can be procced again. That, combined with the now 15m Ridgeway's requirement, was too situational for me. But I do all my testing on legendary solo summit, and I didn't test it in the DZ. I think they should remove the distance requirement from Ridgeway's, and nerf the maximum healing it gives. That way it will be a more consistent talent. It's not as if bleed is all that strong anyway, there will never be another predator's mark from td1 i don't think. The backfire self bleed is also pretty restrictive. I tried another weird setup using gear set with the hollow point ammo, and it did a shitload of damage but it was also inconsistent and unreliable. Didn't have enough survivability in the summit. It absolutely deleted npc's though. Ultimately it just felt like a common 6 red glass build and I'm plenty bored with that play style at this point

What if you give up the hazard protection and swap it with crit damage, and get a weapon with sadist, wouldn't that be more dps? Sadist ia amplified damage, and you are bleeding them anyways.

@@PatrickWolfChannel i think u confused. Sadist is a weapon talent. I was telling you to swap that backfire for an smg with sadist and given you dont need that hazpro, replace it with cd. Keep same armors, with attribute haz pro changed to cd. How will u lose ur regen?

Ridgeway dropped for me in Lincoln memorial as I grinded for it in the summit I gave it to one of my friends go to Lincoln when target loot is chest pieces easiest way to get ridgeways

How do I make the damage numbers appear on the side like that? I have them turned on but they show up in like a circular pattern around the enemies body. Not like a column to the right as I see in alot of the videos lately

You can get them from names caches sometimes I think. Otherwise they turn up at the vendors every now and then. You can also collect DZ credits from containers in the DZ without extracting

You can aquire them from crafting random gear, it's in the description as a possibility. Got a yaahl chest piece doing that.

I like when that happens.

People don't use the backfire because to build for it to deal damage your better off using virtually any other damage build. By the time your out DPSing other builds you've had to mag dump 3-4 times and the buff only lasts 10 seconds. Can get similar damage with almost no build up using a 2sok,1grupo,3prov with a strained/opertunistic smg with obliterate. You end up with a starting crit damage of like 230% and deal 500K+ a shot. Where as your backfire starts at only like 200K but can build up to 600K+, but again it takes too long to get and doesn't last long enough

I assume the chestpiece is pretty much essential? I utterly despise the Summit so won't be getting my hands on it.

I haven't tested it yet, but I'm running with the hope that incoming repairs buffs this talent. I have a god-rolled Fenris backpack with Creeping Death that I run on a build similar to this and planned on adding some incoming repairs to test it out. The weakness of this build, as you suggested, is the situational nature of it. Attacked by a group= all good. Alone with a named boss, chunga, or hunter and you may as well have no armor repair at all.

Incomming repairs won't help you on the armor regen. It only works on repairing you receive by skills, they changed that couple of patches ago.

Come on man all those reds in the summit, what you running normal mode.

this wouldn't work for my enemies, mine don't stop shooting, the enemy in this video shoots semi auto and runs away

@@PatrickWolfChannel 90% of the time you had less than 30% armor and had to rely on a pussy Shield. I can run around and have bonus armor 90% of time and not have to rely on the shield. But yeah you know everything about the game! Lol 🤦‍♂️🤡

Great build as always but thing is legendary npcs's behavior is way more hostile and herratic on consoles than it is on pc, this kind of builds are useless in those platforms
