One of the best parts of fallout 3 which no other game since has really captured was the horror. Most of new Vegas faults are more comedic and insightful then outright scary, while Fallout 4’s vaults were more thematic of the 50s Americana gone by the war. However with fallout 3 we have the body horror, Gary clones, and haunting dark atmosphere of each vault. The tight corridors with the dark music, atmosphere and subject matter of some vaults really is excellent.

For the 3D era of the games you are correct. If you go back and play 1 and 2, there is a lot of horror (as best as the late 90’s graphics could offer) to be found as well.

And at one point in development it was supposed to be even more so, with James supposedly ending halfway mutated into a Super Mutant, at which point the Lone Wanderer would find him and be asked to put him out of his misery. Some concept art is still around, and I have even seem some mods that played with the idea. On the other hand, those taking a closer look around Vault 87 found that the FEV tanks have already been depleted by the time you enter the vault, meaning that the super Mutants can no longer turn captives into more of them. That's why they were looking for the Vault-Tec HQ, hoping to find the location of more vaults where they incorrectly assume they will find more FEV. In others, the Super Mutants in the Capital Wasteland are already facing their extinction event, as their numbers can no longer be replenished, while their losses continue to mount, specially at the hands of the BoS.

I love how you cover these vaults. Reminds me of you coverage of the Outlast Trials. The similar story beats provide for some great overlap.

I wonder if when we get to see Fallout 6, we'll get to see the colony starship. Just because the Enclave never got to launch the project don't mean that they didn't build the rocket, I really doubt they could've built the whole thing after the Great War anyways with most of humanity and its technology going up in smoke, it'd probably make more sense to build the ship as basic as possible, get the Vault data, then modify the ship based on the data before launch. That'd be a conundrum for us, launch the rocket and hope the second home world doesn't blow itself up like Earth did or blow up the rocket and make us learn from our mess instead of tossing it aside.

Fallout 2 had the spaceship ESS Quetzal, that the hubologists were trying to get into space, though IIRC they failed in all possible endings due to one reason or another. I think there's room for Bethesda to add more such spaceships, specially given that in FO4 they now mention a battle that took place in the moon's "Sea of Tranquility" according to an exhibition in the Museum of Freedom.

What i don't understand about Vault 112's failsafe is that why doesn't it also kill Braun? Didn't he say it'd put an end to everyone's life including his? How is he still alive?

Great video! But do let me provide a bit more info on Vault 106, since there’s some more to it. For starters, Vault 106 was first mentioned in the Fallout Bible 0, though at the time it was only said that "Psychoactive drugs were released into the air filtration system 10 days after the Door was sealed." There's some additional info we can get from the enemies inside the vault... with the contract killer and law bringer perks. In short, contract killer makes good human NPCs drop ears upon death, while law bringer will make evil human NPCs drop fingers upon death. This means that we can learn if a character is supposed to be evil or good from this, and the result sin Vault 106 are... interesting to say the least. Insane survivors will all drop ears, suggesting that they are good people that went insane. The "survivor" at the end of the vault however, will drop a finger, indicating that he is the only evil character populating the vault. For starters, this survivor is wearing one of the few vault tec lab coats in the game, making hims stand out not just form the rest of the survivor in the vault, but overall. The fact that he isn't labeled as "insane" also points towards him not being affected by the drugs in the vault... which should only be possible with the knowledge that the staff running the experiment had about the safe areas in the vault, not to mention the ability to regulate the pumping of the drugs in the air system as needed. In other words, I strongly suspect this guy is continuing to run Vault 106's experiment 200 years after the greta war, attracting wastelanders as you suggest, which seems confirmed by the contents of some lockers by the entrance of the vault, with lots of gear you wouldn't expect to see in a locked vault. On a different note, another character wearing a vault tec lab coat is the "surgeon" found in the Red Racer factory, who is also conducting experiments... though on feral ghouls and super mutants. To everyone's surprise, he has actually been successful at controlling both kinds of creatures, with the super mutants even giving him information on the existence of Behemoths, which according to his logs, the surgeon now wants too capture one to also experiment with it and potentially control it, a prospect that sounds possible given that he can even control feral ghouls. Anyway, his connection with vault-tec is unexplained: the lab coat suggest he could have come from a vault, or at least been to one (vault 92's door has been left open, so there do is the possibility he got it from there, though the place is also bobby trapped and full of mirelurks by the time FO3 takes place). Still, can't help but wonder if there's a deeper connection between the surgeon and the vault 106 survivor.

@@greenkoopa Curiously, the terminal to unlock the T-51b armor from the stasis field at Fort Constantine indicates that the Medical Power Armor was the one that was supposed to be stored there instead, referring to it as “Medical Armor Prototype”. It seems that the armors were swapped last minute and the terminal text wasn’t changed to reflect it.

Nitpick. Agatha is a DESCENDANT of Hilda. Hilda is the ancestor.

Have you done a Lore and Order for Killzone and Resistance: Fall of Men? Resistance, especially the first one, has a great and deep lore that’s only available in the environmental storytelling now since I think they shut down all the websites from back in the day.

After watching the fallout tv series wanted to check out the game. Playing it now and it has so much content and thrilling stories! Just love the open world games with overwhelming plots. However I was very cautious about it, due to the disappointment over the LOF tv show (it was just disturbing for me and how they have ruined all of the atmosphere). Played two parts of the game before they have released the first season and was hoping for similar story telling… The fallout story is so much breathtaking, so interesting. Each vault story is unique, all of the characters have interesting backstories. Thank you for the video!

They should of had the Fallout TV show Vaults be more messed up. Also atleast have show the Vaults atleast being able to beat a Gecko that been blinded and crippled give their dreams.

Vault 4 did had a woman give birth to tadpoles/lizards that then began devouring her, so that already sounds very messed up to me. I do can agree that they do could have shown up some more experiments though.

Just finished the Amazon prime season 1 tv series. I played a few fallout games before and I know we fight the enclave and institute but I don’t think we ever actually fight vault tech as a faction until the tv series or am I wrong

Fallout 4 does. If you have a disk or download, Vegas and 3 work to a certain extent. They force you to download alot of GB with the disk and Microsoft suddenly deleted mine after one of their updates. If you're doing the plain vanilla it works, the DLCs are a nightmare to get working. Even if they are backwards compatible, I think they purposely made it a headache. Maybe that will change since they are updating the games.

White Day: A Labyrinth Named School Story Explained

Sounds/Looks familiar and disturbing. Looks like something that is happening right now in our world. Or what is about to really happen. Just saying🤷

The only question i have is how do you make fallout run :))). I've been trying to make it run this 2 days but nothing. First i had an issue with the GPU but that got fixed by forcing it through nvidia controll panel. After that i still have issues with the keyboard and mouse. All of the sudden they stop responding and i can only play the game with an xbox controller. I have tried everything but nothing seems to be working. I can only enjoy the game from watching you or any other content creators playing fallout 3 :))

Wish I could help you, but all I can say is that the game works out of the gate on the Steam Deck, and a few years ago Bethesda fixed the Windows Live issue.

Just started fallout 4 again. Gonna do it as an appetizer before vegas, then fallout 3 for desert. Mmmmmm i got a whole month planned hahaha

@@vee-bee-a Interplay cancelled Van Buren in favor of FO: BoS and its 90% complete sequel, FO: BoS2. Van Buren never stood chance to getting released and if Interplay had retained control of the IP, we would probably only have gotten more FO: BoS sequels by now.

Please please please do Fallout 1 and 2 videos and do a deep dive. Fallout 1 has the BEST story and atmosphere
