My father served in the FBI honorably as a 25 year Special Agent in the Rocky Mountains, and retired in 2011, and was involved in this case in the aftermath. I was only 12, but I remember how difficult it was for him during Ruby Ridge. As a devout believer in the Second Amendment and civil liberties, he felt truly awful about the FBI, and was horrified by its performance here, and at Waco. But, he never aired his anger and frustration publically. Today, the most I will get out of him about Ruby Ridge was that it was wrong of US government, ANY branch, Marshalls, ATF, to entrap Mr. Weaver, (whom I've had the pleasure to meet, spoken with, and feel truly awful and horrified for, as a father and husband myself), into a weapons charge. Short-barreled weapons have no business being registered anyway and are certainly not a crime worthy of that level of manpower and firepower, and they are absolutely not worth a mandatory five years in jail, which he was facing. My father also added that, "Mr. Weaver wanted to live off the grid, and generally, if someone does that, that means we should leave them alone. That's where you want people to go if they are 'extremists' (which Mr. Weaver was not, but he was labeled as such). While the FBI today is corrupt, disgusting, and probably needs disbanded (in my opinion), I would like to ask those of you familiar with this story who just "hate the FBI" to please consider the brave men like my father who tried to do the right thing every single day he worked, and worked hard for fairness and equality under the law. Not all the agents are bad men, and sometimes good agents just make mistakes, it happens. My father has nightmares the times I get home to see him, because he saw all the evil things of this world that none of you will ever imagine. As he said to me once, "Once you see the evidence of what disgusting things predators do to children, you never look at humanity the same way again."

All of this was over missed court date that they rescheduled last minute and randy was supposedly not informed about. The son was with his dog. The FBI shot his dog and that’s when the exchange of fire happened and his son was killed… because random people on private property killed the family dog. FBI claims they identified themselves and his son fired first and that’s what started it but the fbi reports are all conflicting and don’t make sense. From there they gave shoot to kill orders and “highly trained” FBI snipers fired on the cabin occupied by his wife and daughter, killing his wife who was holding his 10 month old baby. Kevin was acquitted of all charges and won a civil suit against the government. Randy was also acquitted of all charged except the original missing his court date and also filed a civil suite and accepted an out of court deal. Don’t forget Waco happened within a year of ruby ridge and some of the agents on scene are some of the same same involved with ruby ridge. Even though many of the evidence shows they did, even if the FBI didn’t start the fire doesn’t matter. After the fire was out and everyone was dead they took pictures posing with dead burnt bodies of woman and children, 83 people died, 23 of them kids. The FBI immediately tampered with and destructed much of what was left of the crime scene. FBI’s official story is no shots were fired at the compound yet the agent who killed Randy’s wife at ruby ridge was also at waco and was firing on people who were fleeing the fire. His rifle was immediately re-barreled after waco and conveniently none of his shots could be traced. Much of the evidence was redacted or out right missing including phone records and all the independent autopsy footage and recordings had been confiscated by the FBI and them immediately lost. Many of the agents on scene in Waco were promoted and given awards. FUCK THE FEDS, NEVER COMPLY.

Ruby Ridge and the Waco siege were events that occurred while I was in college, going through a Criminal Justice degree. This is what Weaver's "gun issue" was. Because his shop had customers that were known to be linked to white supremacists, the Feds wanted him to get cozy with them and become their informant. He refused. Then some undercover agents tried to get him to illegally cut down the barrel of a shotgun to below legal length. He refused but cut it down to just above the legal length, the minimum he would be allowed by the regulations at the time. They apparently decided to measure the barrel differently and charged him for it anyway. Those charges were later dismissed but not before they offered to drop them if he'd agree to be an informant like they asked originally. This "success" the Feds are so proud of was no more than official harassment that turned into government-sanctioned murder. I've been a cop for 27 years. While there are decent people that I have met, working in the FBI, BATFE, US Marshall's, etc. overall the agencies run operations like a bunch of politically motivated actions solely meant to get noticed and promoted. I don't trust the Feds any farther than I could pick up the Capital building and throw it.

The federal government didn't like people thinking that, so a way to criminalize thought different from what some people in the federal government believed, or rather manufacturing a crime to be pinned on that group in order to punish it. Lmfao. Lol. OOLOOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL. Ok so i have family that lived in regions where even government didn't have control. They just didn't want to put out the money/resources to govern 500 people spread out in a very tough area of the jungle/mountains. Lol. So do you know how bad..bad is? Even before the vietnam war broke out. You had criminals that knew the law couldn't reach them would rape and kill women and men. Which means nothing to you. IN your mind rape and dead women and men is common. Well, when you have dudes raping little girls like 5 years old it's different. Who stops that? The neighbors? No, they killed the neighbors and the men. That's why they were able to do what they were doing. At that point even the locals welcomed communist police to come in and help. Which is something my family does not welcome. Communism. They deal with it but anyways the government is the lesser evil. At least the government will pay you and admit they were wrong after their cop rapes and kills your daughter. Where as if there is no government....putin or cartels can be your government and do what they want. IN this world it's either governments or powerful evil people who uses fear to rule YOU. We've seen it in history. Without a government people will become savages and even with a government....the government will be savage FOR you. LOL. The US government is the best thing that has happened on this planet. Outside of a few other great civilization. Even UK during its major rule was so evil it made american slavery seem like wedding. In country without government in power. You just see criminals dominate. Cause let me ask you James Seeker. Are you willing to go out and risk your life right now and leave your family forever just to protect your neighbor who will end up raping your wife anyways? No? Then you and your wife = gone. You shouldn't have lasted that long anyways. Government is everything. Either you have a government, a gang leader, a physical god, or something to tell everyone to ACT the same and follow the same set of rules. That's why religion = government in the past. That's why RICH people = government in the past. BLOODlines = government. We've seen it ALL. You NEED a boss. We've had 10000's of years of humans roaming around and the only way to move human kind on and give your family a decent chance is to follow the safest route. Which is the government as of right now. Do you understand how much blood would be spilled daily without governments? Do you understand how bad society is without government/religion? Hell, you'd be dead and your wife and daughter would be raped and used by dozens of men by now. There is no security without a boss. There is no security without similar minds coming together. When you have minds come together you end up organizing law and regulations and rules and government to MOVE on after you die. So while you sit there and talk crap about government because YOU think you know everything about the world and you think you know it all. THINK about what you know and THEN post. You ignorant fool lol. You want that hippie life in the mountain type stuff where you rely on god as health care or something bs. How do you even think science and progress is even a thing? Cause government allows humans to do this without worry. My god. IF government allows businesss and business allows jobs and allows production and even allows you to EAT without growing your own food. Then how the hell do you think society would work without government you fool. Governments are there for two reasons: one is to let you know who's boss and the other is to make business for itself to justify its existence. That is what you said but i can say the something similar about humans. Humans were there for two reasons. TO eat and reproduce. So yeah lets just ignore everything else about humans why don't we? Fool.

Jesus Mike I thought you would have researched this better. The FBI and ATF were going after the Aryan Nation (Randy had a friend that was a member he showed up to one meeting and decided it wasn't for him) a paid informant for the ATF harrased randy for months to sell him sawed off shotguns Randy did it just to get the guy to leave him alone when he showed up with the guns they weren't short enough so the paid informant pointed where he wanted the barrels cut (that's entrapment and was eventually ruled as such by the courts) later Randy gets arrested he gets put in a situation where he feals he has nothing to loose if he mortgages his property to pay a lawyer he'll lose his land and possibly the case then the government sent him the wrong court date. He was up on his mountain when USMS SOG were crawling around in Ghillie Suits (with orders to not engage the weavers) when Sammy Weaver and his Dog were out hunting the Marshall's shot the dog without Identifying themselves so Sammy and family friend Kevin Harris both shot back Sammy weaver had his arm shot off then was shot in the back running away. Then during the Standoff the FBI gave illegal rules of engagement to their snipers to shoot the weavers on sight they ended up shooting Vickie Weaver in the face while she was holding her baby by Lon Horiuchi who would go on to kill people at WACO and change the barrel of his rifle right after to avoid prosecution. Kevin Harris shooting the marshall was ruled to be self defense the gun charge was ruled to be entrapment and Randy was awarded a 3.1 million dollar settlement.

I was about to post the same thing. There's more detail to this than what Mike was presenting. The courts/law enforcement did believe that Weaver was breaking the law by not showing up to court at the time, but they didn't know that he had been sent the wrong date of the trial. Essentially law enforcement wanted to get the Aryan Nation at all costs and thought Weaver was a part of the Aryan Nation and entrapped him in order to get him to become an informant. When Weaver resisted, they treated him like a modern day Rambo. Then when he didn't show up for court unwittingly being sent the wrong date, they thought Weaver was about to unleash this wrath against them because he was a former Green Beret instead of just doing their job and arresting him. It was a series of blunders and unlawful conduct by the FBI and ATF that has horrific outcomes and left Weaver with a dead wife and son

Agree with Mike Glover that the Ruby Ridge incident was a tragedy and that the FBI didn't even get a slap on the wrist for it just like the Waco, TX incident. The ATF and FBI afterwards sent 100 armed agents to the Branch Davidian compound to enforce a $200 tax fine on a 1/2 inch gun barrel resulting in the deaths of over 80 civilians including women & children. They lied to the Texas National Guard indicating it was a drug raid to acquire their helicopter gunships, unloaded 7000 armor piercing rounds into a 50 year old wooden structure filled with women & children, held the Fire Departments back for 30 minutes while knowing fire mixed with CS Gas canisters becomes lethal to humans so there would be less witnesses to testify against the Federal Government. Like Ruby Ridge, the agents in Waco didn't even get a slap on the wrist.

The Feds wanted Randy Weaver to befriend and inform on some locals they were gunning for. He refused. They really didn't like this, so in order to get back at him, they sent in some undercovers to entrap him. He refused to shorten a shotgun barrel three or four times. Then he finally caved in and shortened it just barely within the legal limit. The feds decided to measure it via a different method by which it was 1/8" shorter than the limit. They charged him with a felony and offered to drop it in exchange for him informing on the locals. He refused again, so they gave him a court date. But they gave him an incorrect court date (on purpose). So now he's a double felon. That's when they sent in the snipers that murdered his dog, son and wife. There's more to the story, like when the feds were surveiling him and they pretended to be broken down motorists on the side of the road. Randy stopped to help them. He's a good man. Disgust doesn't even begin to describe the feds.

I'm an Idahoan, so like many people here, I read a book years ago on the incident. There's a lot to the story leading up to it, but what a freaking shit show that whole thing was. I won't say names, but I know one of the higher-ups who were on-scene. A lot of horrible decisions were made to elevate the situation to what ended up happening, and unfortunately, the people who made those decisions ended up getting their careers advanced. It's tragic and gross what happened to that family. What's crazy is that there are many, many families here who could have had the same thing happen. It doesn't take much for Big Brother to decide its time to start watching you.

Most founders supported ratification. Meaning they supported centralized power (like the power we see from these corrupt alphabet agencies) or the opposite of what our country was originally founded on. They gave us the constitution to hang out hat on but clearly it wasn't that effective considering a few years after the constitution was drawn up you get the sedition act of 1798 (promoted by the same who supported ratification) which showed that freedom of speech can be put on the back burner when the centralized power in this country feels threatened.

This unfortunately does not tell the whole story. The feds set up Randy Weaver because they wanted to use him to infiltrate these militia groups in the area. So they had an undercover agent befriend Weaver and his family. Many months later this “friend” asked Randy to help him saw off a portion of a shotgun barrel. The “friend” said he just needed a shorter barrel to defend his home (using the shotgun as a home defense weapon). When Randy did this, he violated a federal law concerning manipulating or shortening the barrel of a gun. The feds began to prosecute Randy hoping they could flip him and use the criminal case over his head. Well, Randy didn’t show up for his arraignment, and this is what lead to feds and FBI assaulting the property, killing the family pet, his wife, and his son.
