There's also undead rogue/priest in Warcraft by the name Lilian Voss which is a clear reference to planeswalker.

One way to make a video like this cooler could be to flash Liliana cards on the corner of the screen as you get to the part of the story they're referencing. Maybe with small text underneath that says the year+set. Not that you need to include every single Liliana card, but it can be cool to remember how parts of this story got conveyed through cards in various sets over literal decades.

To whom it may concern at WOTC, truth be told, I’d never have known one iota about the Liliana backstory without the Planeswalker Points series. It takes a motivated team, armed with time, care, creative freedom, and a little money, to actually inspire MTG players like myself to care about the main characters that, one day, might actually form the backbone of films and tv shows that are so desperately needed in order to ‘Gather’ a new generation of players …as Dr. Garfield intended

I'm typically not a lore person but this once a month/week would definitely keep me coming back. Thanks for changing it up CGB

It seems like different editors are doing subtitles? The Salt at Howling Mines one was really solid and easy to read, but there's a lot of mistakes in this one ("Nicole Bolas," "Tesseract" instead of Tezzeret, "mine mage" instead of "mind mage"), and the words break sometimes in weird places too (like, isn't planes walk and chain veil a specific word set? Why show a single "vault." and not just put it in the line with the word "chain"...) I'm probably being nitpicky, but seeing someone else mention the subtitles, I thought I should probably say something too. It was slightly difficult for me to piece the sentences together :( Another tidbit: would really appreciate the names on some of these artworks if they belong to cards! I recognized some right away (and that Oath of Liliana's flavor text, heh heh...having the card on there after the full art could be helpful for newer fans to understand the reference, giving a source), but some others I'm not sure. I don't think they might be from cards? Sorry for the long post! Really appreciate the planeswalker stories, though. Liliana is one of those villains that really shocked me as a kid in the DotP/Magic Duels games when you realize that it was *her* chain veil that caused Garruk to be scary and stuff, and how she outlived the four demons who granted her pact, and her tragic past as a kid...I got scared of touching magic cards for a while after facing Garruk in the game lol Wizards should really consider making a Magic show, like Yu-gi-oh, seriously

I loved her actions at the end of War of the Spark for being perfectly in-character and perfectly mono-black. She doesn't defy Bolas because he's deceitful, or evil, or a threat to the multiverse; she does it because she hates him *so much* she would rather die than have to listen to him for another second.

CovertGoLore, let's go! Love these backstory videos, keep it up. I would say, I feel like you didn't finish the story, tho. After invading Ravnica and then turning on Bolas, she is almost assassinated by Kaya, goes to Stryxhaven, and the rest. Maybe you were running out of time, but maybe we could get a part 2? Liliana is super awesome.

My cat is named after Liliana Vess. She was the first planeswalker I ever pull when I started playing MTG back in 2010. I still use her in my super friends deck to this day.

I was wondering what happened to Liliana after her appearance as Professor Onyx. As a strange coincidence, I was thinking this morning about how many sets have passed since then--with no mention of her story. So finding that you created this video, I normally watch your Standard content, seemed providence. But you left off just before the events of Gideon's death, and I am still left wondering; three years later and no answers.

LiLi's redemption storyline is one of the most compelling pieces of lore since Urza detonated the sylex killing his completed brother.

Love it! Makes me want to play a Liliana deck!

Like the first, this video ignites a spark in me to learn more about MTG lore

Liliana is my favorite for many reasons, but being consistently dropped in the deep end and needing to scheme her way out is my favorite thing about her stories All while still having a character and not being stereotyped into just only evil

I look forward to her next run in with Kasmina in Return to Strixhaven, which Mark Rosewater mentioned in a blog post on tumblr

I really like this series. I had no interest in Magic's lore before these videos but now I can't wait for a new episode to come out.

This is a nice format for a video. Interesting and quick fire. Small point from an English teacher though; try to avoid switching between past and present tense - like in the demon section.

There should really be a 2nd part to this. Killing the next two Demons was then how Bolas obtained Liliana's contract. Then how Liliana became the General under Nicol Bolas. Gideon's then sacrifice to save her. I also don't believe that she is a member of gatewatch "until this day". After War of the Spark, Jace told her to flee and Gatewatch sent Kaya to kill her.

Always wanted to learn about MTG lore, but never knew where. At least I'll be able to learn about Planeswalkers here. c:

Interesting to cut it off at War of the Spark when there's more to her story after it, and honestly one of the more interesting parts of her character as she reacts to Gideon sacrificing himself for her.

I'm actually loving this series

All the lore and stories from Shadows over Innistrad to War of the spark was very great and well written. From the defeat (not really concerning Emrakul but whatever) of the eldrazis titans, to the defeat of Nicol Bolas. I think after 2019 it went a little bit down.

Last one I wasnt too intrigued but this one caught me :)

Liliana deserves either a love interest the level of Gideon or a sycophant the level of Renfield. Bonus points if the sycophant is now undead and always knows the correct Omenpaths to take to find her.

I still think the best demonstration of her ark is when you find out she gained a position at the most powerful institution of magic once again to secure more power but this time she wants only to find a way to bring back Gideon. The person who never once gave up on her even when everyone else did.

Thank you for the info! I don't know a ton of the lore, but played way back in 5th edition and prior. While the story with Planewalkers is cool enough, I do not enjoy how they impacted the game as a mechanic and will forever dislike that aspect.

These videos are really cool, but because the thumbnail is so similar to your gameplay videos I skipped over it (haven't been interested in arena lately). I think you should try to use a new thumbnail design for these moving forward, it might attract more views. You mentioned that you want to make new types of content, so I hope to see more videos like this in the future.

I'd like them even better if they were longer, so there is more time to delve in the story and create immersion. Sometimes i felt a bit too much information was being compressed in a small amount of time. Regardless, I like learning the mtg lore through these stories!
