I always find the most intriguing aspect of this story is that Maxim de Winter's second wife is only ever called Mrs de Winter. Her given name is never mentioned. It's like she has no identity beyond being his wife.

And based on the movie and the novel itself, it supposed to be rebecca that have more characteristic etc than the second wife. I mean the whole point of rebecca is the second wife jealous of the dead rebecca that everyone love.

That was made me dislike the character personally and all she did was wimper around and be afraid. Any action she did do was on behalf of her husband, not herself. Both Rebecca and the second wife was done a disservice.

I'm actually disappointed in this scene. The screenwriters should have kept the dress white since it was written in the book. I don't want to compare this with Hitchcock's, they all have their pros and cons. But Hitchcock's film nailed this scene. Mrs. De Winter from Hitchcock's wearing the white dress with the hat looks very stunning. We all know that how stunning she looked can reveal how many horrible memories Maxim remembered about Rebecca. That's why Maxim yelled at her. This scene, I just don't feel that way.

We don't understand the meanings she was trying to get across anymore as film makers. Or we don't like them and just change them. The white dress being exchanged for a red one is a perfect proof of that. The themes are so different it's really a different story, Daphne du Maurier's stories are about her character's motivations, changing that is essentially changing everything.

The Hitchcock version was superior in every way and was true to the superb novel. This latest version was completely unnecessary and inferior.

All I can think about is the wife and the kids, I wish she was better at hiding the affair. It's disgusting if she timed the affair for show. So more people would watch it.

She’s not having an affair with him. They’re friends, co-stars and were drunkenly playing around at lunch with their agent and later, on a scooter. He’s pictured kissing her cheek while at lunch with the agent, nothing any more salacious than that. She’s cancelled all but one interview since the media onslaught. I doubt she would purposely put herself through what she’s going through just to promote an entirely different film...

You forgot about airport pictures too.if they are kissing in Rome in public, they are having sex in hotel. But I really hope the wife forgive him, for the kids. They have a lot of young kids.
