If that were my mom and I was missing for 2 days at a friends house and no one was answering the phones. Besides a friend who was giving different stories. The cops get calls every day to do home checks. We can’t legally enter the house. They didn’t have reasonable suspicion. The issue isn’t with the cops but the rules we must follow. Every time I hear this story I’m infuriated. How does a welfare check consist of merely speaking to a teenage boy who doesn’t live at the residence? They didn’t take into account anything the mother said, treating her as an over anxious, protective mother who probably didn’t have anything to worry about. I hope they lose sleep. We all know our loved ones, if she normally would not go without checking in AND nobody at the residence could be reached… huge red flag. How did they miss the crime scene, how?

From what I've seen, it's bad parenting that causes kids to rebel. Sometimes they rebel by listening to music their parents don't like and dressing in ways their parents don't like. That's why that type of music/scene attracts them. But it's the fault of bad parenting, not the music. Same with anti police and anti government groups. They're the result of bad policing and bad governing, causing ppl affected by it to start and join those groups.

@@GodNotReal (In general) there are people who admit to crimes like murder they didn’t commit as an attempt to get attention, it can be caused by lack of attention from family members or friends in childhood, it could start as destructive behavior (breaking toys, bullying siblings or classmates etc) and form into more violent behaviors as they get older (harm to themselves, siblings, animals etc) and in some cases it goes further over the edge ie breaking and entering, armed robbing and sometimes murder, some that can’t bring themselves to actually commit murder could admit to unsolved crimes to get attention whether it’s positive or negative

Also why would they not search the whole house to make sure it was clear along with the basement? The smell, might not have been as bad as neighbors made it sound, Mel's dad sat there for 8hrs. Then went home, surely he would have reported a strange odor considering he was trying to find his daughter, but the stink on the murderer was definately noticeable according to the tow truck driver. @@Ze_Moose @Ze_Moose What do you mean by disciplined? *If you mean corporal punishment*, then part of your gratefulness is probably from ignorance of the world around you. After searching "are you more likely to commit crimes if you were disciplined as a kid" I found several sources (the very first one being a .gov site) claiming that not only does it increase the likelihood of committing crimes, it also increases likelihood of the child developing antisocial behaviors. After searching "likelihood of committing crimes in relation to corporal punishment" I found several more articles that make similar points (including the WHO, IJP, and NIH). However I did find one website (parlia) that paints it in a better light saying it is a strong deterrent. I guess your sample group of one might not have enough weight. I was punished as a child and had developed a stealing habit and as well as a defiance problem later on in life. I have since acknowledged and resolved these issues. I know first hand that it aint so good.

Thats one way to see it. My take on him was more like: His Voice was shacking. He was so full of adrenaline and most likely couldn't even comprehend what he really did. He broke in this moment. Like everything before is gone, he can never go back. After that, he went numb emotionaly. He knew, nothing he says is changing what he did and he knew he will get caught sooner or later, so he did what he wanted till this moment. And it's possible, that you get so shocked, you go emotionaly numb. His reason was most likely: he was so full of hate and abuse (he was abused by somebody in school or family) and wanted to escape. His escape was with this girl. But she didn't want him and he was "stuck" (in his mind at least) at their place. They most likely abused (verbaly) him. He couldn't flee from there and at some point he was so fed up with everything, that he couldn't handle it anymore (like one drop of water spills the glass). He NEEDED this to stop. They didn't stop till it was to late and he killed them. (than the video happened) Either the parents heard this and tryed to stop him or he waited for them to not get "discovered" sooner. Either way, they need to go. I dont try to defend him or anything. There is no reason to kill another human unless he killed first (i'm for the death sentence). You can say, he was an asshole for his last few free days, but before, he was a sad and helpless kid who only wanted someone else.

How were officers able to navigate through the house without seeing any of the bloodshed and why on earth would he even makeup the dog/noise in the basement story? The officer at the scene of the car crash didn't notice anything amiss? It's 4:00 am and most likely very dark out so id imagine the officer would have had his flashlight on the kid at some point. Yeah, lots of good info. I think it's very interesting his dad threw his mom out of the family home. That suggests his dad was abusive and possibly misogynistic. If he witnessed his father physically and verbally abusing his mother from childhood, it could shed some light on his violence to the three females in the house. Males who abuse female partners frequently had a father who was a domestic abuser, and grew up being influenced by him and disrespecting women as a result. Big Incel vibes from the killer. He was obviously enraged that Emma didn't find him attractive (huge arrogance he ever assumed she would - he was punching well above his weight and should have known it), and angry and humiliated that her friend and mother knew she'd given him the brush off. Males who abuse/kill females can't handle rejection. The chance of a woman being killed by her abusive partner rockets, as soon as she leaves him or even mentions she might leave him. This guy was surely a ticking time bomb. The fact he was 20 and pursuing an online relationship with a 16 year old girl he'd never met, speaks volumes about him. It's doubtful he'd ever had a serious relationship, so was pinning all his hopes on this 'virtual' girlfriend. Chances are he would always kill a woman when she rejected him.

Especially considering that her parents were only indulging Emma's interest in horror core and such in an attempt to ensure that at least she was safe throughout her rebellious forays. But in what universe does inviting a 20 year old strange man with obviously dark and bizarre interests to fly across the country and practically take up roost in your 16 year old daughters bedroom sound even remotely like an exercise in safety or harm reduction/damage control?

They were very negligent. I've experienced a wellness check from a new friend - who wasn't quite accustomed to my depression-related mood swings - who overreacted. There were three or four cops who came through my door and searched around my home. One of them made me call my mother and then snatched the phone once she got on the line, and walked out to speak with her. So of course I don't understand the severe lack of police response in this story, because they were pretty thorough with me!

I never murdered anyone, nor could I. And they way you describe what it feels like to be bullied, wow. You described exactly how I used to feel. I had over two decades of therapy for being bullied, molested and beaten. I still have anger but have learned control. I get loud and animated quickly when challenged, more as a defense (Im a big guy now) but I no longer back down from a confrontation, maybe even to my determent. But kill someone, even iin self defense... I dont have that in me.. Hurt or main even to protect myself maybe, never kill. Im glad he didnt hang himself to "face his consequences"

He said "Peace" as in goodbye. People are brainwashed, it's no different than when someone says "god damnit" or "Jesus Christ" out of frustration even though they aren't necessarily religious, it's just that they grew up in western society dominated by Abrahamic religions such as Christianity so the phrases are etched into their subconscious minds. It's about as ironic as crying to God when you're in pain, even though you don't actually believe in him.
