Years of “investigating” Annie’s death (which sounds like the equivalent of about 3 days work) achieved basically nothing - Branching off onto related crimes would’ve possibly raised the bar a little - and that’s the last thing these low functioning clowns would want.

That bit had me confused as well. It didn't really make sense why someone would bring a body without concealing it just throwing blood all around. Like, what if they get caught doing all of that? The vehicle would also have blood everywhere. Also the fact that Joanna literally gave away a motive for framing someone she doesn't care about (to get immunity) and only used knowledge that is already publicly available... But I can't blame the cops too much for wanting to investigate a seemingly good lead, especially since she had done a lot of research. Why weren't the phone records taken earlier to confirm the alibis? RIP Annie indeed

  • @transmatized
    @transmatized8 ай бұрын

absolutely insane that the investigators didn’t immediately try to cross check and verify everything the kid (and his father) was saying by looking at phone records or anything other than just asking his friend and his family. I know it’s easy to look at this from an outside perspective and say they seemed suspicious all along but the boy “randomly” mentioned annie’s nose bleeding on his shoe, said he agreed to cover for HIS GIRLFRIEND sleeping with someone else and everything he said sounded like it was extremely rehearsed.

What do you mean the outside perspective? If thats the case then Detectives should invite armchair TrueCrimers to help them with their cases!? It's not OUR job. It's their job to BE suspicious. THEY have the experience, we don't. Plus that woman who was off her head on uppers or Meth or Coke. She sounded like she was lying through her teeth!!! I know what I sound like after a night out and NO you do NOT believe a word I say lol. Plus they caught a lucky crime with John but you could tell he was telling the truth though his house stank of a crime scene. I couldn't believe when they moved away from those lying boys! The Dad was so obvious with the wide stance legs and nonchalant way. It was TOO laidback for your sons good friend who has just been murdered and he had seen her that night. It was sooo rehearsed. In fact the only believable thing was the nosebleed lol! It was shocking. The boy was not upset or startled. And he laid on the cute boy act. Plus his friend was trying to be so 'cool man howdy' that it was obvious he was covering for his friend. I just thought straight off the LJ thing was BS. A gang?? And he's hanging out with you guys? Sleeping with her? Would a mother who is a social worker not 'see the signs that her daughter is hanging out with dealers/gang people'? Urgh. Lol, I thought it was awful Detective work. Like when they did not question Lori about her husband being shot by her brother.

  • @Raraking4796

@ir9567 no I haven't but I don't think we can say that based on one person's re-telling of the case and partial clips from interviews. You are purely making a assumption. Either way the detectives have to follow every lead otherwise reasonable doubt can be called into questions during the trial. They don't have to be proven innocent by the defense they simply have to prove reasonable doubt. The cops DEFINITELY should have asked more questions about crazy Lori brother shoot her husband. Simply based off the body cam footage that shit didn't even sound like self defense.

He got 15 to life. Judges do this for a reason. He was tried as an adult for a crime committed when he was a minor. If thr judge imposed a sentence that could seem excessively harsh, it is likely it could be overturned on appeal. Because the kid plead guilty, he wouldnt be able to appeal the conviction. But he could appeal the sentence. The appeals court would likely deny an appeal, since 15 years isnt unreasonable. But it is 15 years to life. The parole board will not be granting him parole any time soon. The graphic nature of the crime makes him a danger to society. He would be lucky to get out in 50 years.

He probably told her to write the note and say “don’t come looking for me , I don’t want to be found. “ she was excited to leave with her boyfriend. They probably talked about it for a while. It’s definitely premeditated with acknowledgement for potential repercussions, because he meticulously planned what he wanted to happen. He probably made up an elaborate plan to get her to believe they were going to run away. He probably master minded and persuaded her to come with him. As a young in love teenager she was excited to go and probably wasn’t thinking about long term she just wanted to get away from the lies. I see myself in her. It’s crazy. It makes my chest hurt listening to how she lost her life to something like this. She was excited and ready to leave. She wrote the letter prior and it wasn’t rushed, she used proper grammar like commas in appropriate places and her handwriting and spelling was on point. To think you’re running away with your boyfriend and she’s all excited. To meet up with him to get k_lled out of nowhere. It’s heartbreaking. I pray for her soul and her family. He took her future away. I wish she could have had someone to confide in. He is evil. He planned this, played her for an extended time, coerced her to write a letter to save him time of people finding out. If these is true that proves premeditation. The family knew but feared losing him at so young. Also, I might add, I think I missed it but did they ever find out what the First Lady knew really. The woman who was seemingly high came in and made this whole story. How did she know where she died. I guess because she was going off the news report. She had to be on an upper to go in and falsely place yourself at the scene of a crime. She may know more because she added the change her clothes part , was the entire outfit released? She knew blood was involved. Idk I think she knew too much to almost have someone falsely convicted of murder. Maybe she was there and knew Chris and wanted to help him. Then she knew about LJ RIGHT? How when this happened. Then she said her jaw moved in a weird way. And I don’t know. THIS IS ALL ALLEGED OR IN MY PERSONAL OPINION. REST IN PEACE, ANNIE !! My condolences to her loved ones.

How TF did the police not seek the call records of Chris or Spencer? Why TF would they just accept their stories at face value? The nosebleed thing was such an OBVIOUS lie! Like how convenient is it that Chris is sittin' there stone-faced being interrogated for the murder of HIS GIRLFRIEND, and he just so happened to get blood from her on his shoe of all places? Why would he even feel the need to mention that if, ya know, HE DIDN'T KILL HER?! And how about the fact that the cops just ran with that LJ story without ever finding him? The idea that Chris just went along with a story that Annie had sex with some random dude named LJ and potentially impregnated her, and Chris is just totally cool with that? What NORMAL ASS PERSON would be cool with that?! And then that crazy meth head chick that came forward tellin' this bizarre ass bullshit ass story all happily and gleefully about a murder so nonchalantly as if she was talkin' about a funny anecdote that happened at her job last week. How TF could the police even POSSIBLY buy that?! She was OBVIOUSLY lying!!! And then worst of all, you mean to tell me it took TWO WHOLE ASS YEARS for these cops to finally search through the phone records?!?! That shit should've been the **FIRST** step!!!

Honestly I usually try to avoid looking at an investigation and calling out "the obvious" steps that should have been taken, but this just feels like a series of giant misses. Following the LJ red herring, the nose bleed story not really being pressed harder, hiz feelings on her getting with LJ a supposed 2nd boyfriend, phone records?!! Maybe in 2012 they just hadn't thought of it, but kids still texted a bunch back then how did they not see that and focus on him.

She scared the life out of us and the sh/+ out of the police officers. They were there just to ask about a neighbor.... We are now in our 40's and we never ever had any trouble with the authorities. We always knew tgat she will be the first to call police on us if we were asking for trouble. It blows my mind that investigators didn't check the phone records way earlier in a case that involved a mysterious LJ, multiple mentions of blocked calls and more of that jazz. I get it: the number on its own was relatively useless, and it no doubt required cross-referencing with Chris' location to understand that the two cell phones had been in the same location that night, but even without that, all the talk of a mysterious LJ almost nobody has ever seen and which hasn't made a resurgence despite the victim supposedly having been close to this person to the point of dating them is weird as HELL. People move around in circles, so even if they didn't share the same school or whatever, there should have been some obvious means by which they the victim met LJ, or about the stuff these other guys could offer to help track him down. And all that still ignores the outright usefulness of the call log: it serves as a perfect time keeping device that can be used to prove or disprove the stories suspects are telling them.

It's impossible to do this since mostly you need a warrant to confirm cell records. So it's not like police can just go about and check everyone's location to confirm they're telling the truth. You have to have a solid reason for suspicion to do so first, and run that through court. There's been some exceptions for this but it's not always as easy and could possibly jeopardize an investigation if they gather evidence unlawfully. Edit: Need to clarify that some laws regarding this were changed a couple years back. And it seems to be easier now with looser rules. I'm not sure how it works per different states tho. But generally, there can be all sorts of reasons why they're not allowed to either search an area, or obtain certain records/information.

Trashy people like this exist in a lot of places and sadly their votes count just as much as yours and mine. It always infuriates me when people who lie for othere or make false rape claims dont get punished too often.

Chris saying the part about annie's nosebleed was so guilty. It was obvious he did it at that point.

While I was watching Chris and his friend talk about phone calls, my first thought was, "OK, so they will next check their call records and the locations of their phones when those calls were made." Nothing of that sort followed, and instead they went off on a weird path with "looking for LJ" and that drug addict's bizarre story. I thought they didn't check the call records and the locations because that information was not available with the telephone company, or something. *Two years later*, they identify the real murderer and find incriminating evidence for trial by... **checking the call records and phone locations**. smh 🤦

Who else knew that Joanna Franklin was making up her stroy? She just wasn't believible and you don't bleed from your ears from getting slammed into a wall. In addition, Chris was way too stressed in that interview. Then he throws a nose bleed out there. Finally, if they couldn't find LJ that Chris and Spencer were both pointing to, then he probably didn't exist. I don't think I'm the only one watching that figured out those things.

Nor do you bleed from the eyeballs because you got smacked upside the head. She was obviously tweeking out her mind, and pissed at John.

She’s an addict for sure. And most addicts are full of shit. Usually because they’re in their own world due to drugs.

I knew it instantly because I was expecting it. In the beginning of the video, they mentioned someone is going to falsely frame someone as a revenge and she was the first one to do so in the video.

Bleeding from ears didn't make sense but she might got confused if there was much blood .. however she did a great job getting lazy police put their hands on another crime ..

I love the narrators use of the word investigation so freely. Half the time hes saying that I just replace it with the word look. Makes me feel like I’m going to launch an investigation every time I move to find something in my house. I’m gonna go investigate the fridge and see what I can come up with. No it’s called I’m gunna go look in the fridge for something I want to eat. Kind of creates more emphasis on the fact that these investigators kind of struggled with this one.
