RLM got what they wanted pertaining to Star Wars. I pretty much don't respect their opinion anymore. They want it both ways.

RLM liked Last Jedi because it was "something different" and they hated Rogue One. They're not SW fans. They're Trek fans. I love BOTW and other stuff but they always sugar coat the woke stuff even in Picard S1-2.

"Guardians of Peace, and Justice". That's how Obiwan describes the Jedi in A New Hope. The Prequels align with that description.

The fact that the writers referred to the Jedi who were dispatched as “red shirts” shows how little they care about their own source material and how little they understand the mentality genuine fandom. While we often joke about red shirts outside the Trek universe, we know in good Trek, the writers didn’t. Each death on Kirk’s watch mattered and impacted him. It meant one more message to a family he felt he failed by not making sure someone’s son or daughter or wife or husband or siblings came home alive. That scene in The Motion Picture where an unfortunate crewman died in a malfunctioning transporter accident (“What came back didn’t survive….fortunately”) was definitely not a “lol red shirt” moment. But bringing it back to Star Wars, in the Geonoshan arena battle scene in Attack Of The Clones, there’s a shot of Obi Wan placing his hand on the side of the head of a fallen Jedi and that can be interpreted a few ways. He may have been checking for a sign of life, or he may have been using the Force to ease his pain as he passed. In either case, the Jedi weren’t red shirts to the writers.

Well said, thank you. The writers understood this so well, and its absence is keenly felt in the way Disney has always treated Star Wars. They bought something they neither understood nor loved, like buying a goose who lays golden eggs and thinking, "Let's turn it into paté!" and then wondering why the people who loved it are disgusted.

@30:35 Also, Seth Green is himself a Star Wars fan and should have been the showrunner of any Disney Wars show. Yes, the Robot Chicken Guy probably would have made a more faithful and entertaining Star Wars show.

The thing about Grogu being a response to Anikin is I'm convinced that Grogu is dark side. He's selfish, fearful and impatient. He also loves violence and chooses the mandolins to live with, who in all the games balance dark.

If Yoda was created by the Force, then the Force has a sick sense of humor and irony. “Okay, you’re going to be wise and nigh powerful with the Force and live a very long time, but you’re going to be size, color and texture of one of The Hulk’s testicles and have a speech pattern of someone who has head trauma from falling over after having a stroke. Guys, just because something is mysterious doesn’t automatically mean “FORCE”! There are untold and unnamed trillions of sentient species in the galaxy. Yoda is just one of them. Best stories have a good plot, develop the characters, and make sense right to the end. THey can have hiccups but as TV or movies or books, they need plot and characters and continuity.

RLM was really disappointing in some of that video. They on the one hand wanna rip on people that got upset with broken canon in Star Wars while acknowledging they've been upset when it happened in Star Trek. Bit hypocritical. And then on top of that went on to say that because poverty exists in the world, none of this discourse matters. As if fandom is incapable of having more than one level of concern on a spectrum of importance.

RLM was quite spot on to me. I dont dont always agree with them but they dont do the rage bait that youtubers like midnights edge and nerdrotic do. They may get upset about broken canon with star trek but they arent obnoxious about it the way certain youtubers do. Well poverty is a more important than whether an ip owned by a corporation.

Former celebrities? Wow, that's a hard dig to RLM Tom. They actually provide better production values than a bunch of talking heads in t-shirts on zoom call reading news articles for free (thereby speeding up the death of news media industry) and then discussing them ad nauseam, repeating the same points over and over, and then doing it on so many channels it makes you wonder whether ME (Tom and Andre) have any time left to watch any of the TV series or movies they're discussing and just let the paying guests that actually watch them to elaborate and do the reviews.

Given they are using the Kingdom Come S, could it be possible they do use Cavill for an older Superman somewhere on the continuity or elseworlds?

Back then the attachments lead to many Jedi feeling they had to participate in the wars agaisnt the mandalorians invasion of the republic and thus followed Revan who in turn fell to the dark side and brought them all with them. As part or the rusaan reformation the Jedi became a lot more aesthetic to avoid those mistakes. Which lead to the mess they were by the time of the prequels

Regarding the "bureaucratic Jedi" of the prequels - Both Paul and Tom make excellent points. But the prequels could be seen as the era of the decline of the Jedi, perhaps analogous to the decline of the western church in the late Middle Ages. Luke's story should have been followed up by the reformation of the Jedi. And a prequel to the prequels would have been better if they'd looked back to a more pure era of Jedi. But alas, those ships have sailed.

Tom is right that RLM is out of touch, but I think it goes deeper than that. They can't criticize Disney Wars too much because of their Plinkett reviews. The Plinkett reviews are very influential on how TFA turned out with their OT nostalgia and marketing on practical effects and recommending JJ Abrams by name. We know it influenced TFA because Simon Pegg loves their reviews and showed it to Abrams. Patton Oswald and Rian Johnson do pay attention to RLM content too. They now had an in into the Hollywood system and that's how they get former celebrities to show up on Best of the Worst and Space Cop. The unspoken rule is that they can't badmouth Disney Wars movies as it would be seen as a betrayal and a sign that RLM are unpleasable fan boys instead of legitimate critics. So when they talk about Disney Wars, they go after easy targets like Lucas (rewatch the Plinkett TFA review, they do not talk about TFA as a movie) that Hollywood happens to hate instead of reviewing why the movies don't work.
