@@Tony29103 it isn’t about him not being a part of the wedding, it’s about him being a child who can’t make up his mind and continuously changes it and that his childish nature in choices doesn’t fit with certain things… if he was obsessed with horror, you wouldn’t want him in charge of a child’s birthday, for example. There still has to be a level of maturity in some things. That kind of cake he wanted would be perfect for his birthday but not a wedding.

I learned during my wedding planning that there's a such thing as a grooms cake. It's a separate smaller cake that's supposed to encompass the grooms personality. Traditionally it's served the night before the wedding, during the wedding rehearsal, but many people serve it with the wedding cake.

In the United States, we have a tradition called the "Groom's Cake." It can be as crazy as they want it and doesn't take away from the traditional beauty of the main cake. 😊

They met playing Pokémon go and it was basically a beautiful white cake with a few sugar characters running round it and bride groom on top Her mother was "absolutely not!" Well a friend of mine does fancy cupcakes and made me 50 with little Pokémon icing characters on top lol. 6 different ones/flavors lol. Everyone was happy

@angellittle1571

@@emmasilver2332 It's very much a thing here; it's even in most of the wedding magazines I was given from a few venues and vendors. I've seen it at every wedding I've been to, and it's made it into a variety of shows, too 😂 maybe it's somewhat regional, the US _is_ huge and I wouldn't necessarily think to see it in maybe the Midwest or deep in the Bible belt, but it is very much a thing. Part of the idea is to have a second flavor of cake in case someone doesn't want the main one. It's typically decorated more fun and casual than the main cake, unless someone's being a little too tight about controlling everything. Since traditionally the bride's side picks most things about the wedding (annoying af but usually how it goes, that's how we get bridezillas), it gets to be something really for the groom. Most of the time a groom's cake is representative of the groom, so something that's his interest. Like my bff's husband is a welder, so his groom's cake had a welding helmet and tools as a topper. If I'd had the time to make it, the "groom's" cake for mine would've been Star Trek themed; I had converted the wedding date to to a star date ahead of time, it just didn't work out in the end. (I made our wedding cake; there was a lot of DIY X3)

I'm reminded of the movie Steel Magnolias, and the discussion of the groom's cake...particularly how the only agreement between mother and daughter about the wedding seems to be regarding the fact that it should be relegated to the carport. I personally find nothing wrong with a red velvet cake in the shape of a giant armadillo, but I can understand how the desires of a fiance with a wacky side can make for some awkward when paired with an otherwise traditional wedding. Also, a green lemon cake with the bride and groom as Batman (or should that be Batgirl and Batman? Maybe?) sounds fabulous.

I didn’t have a themed wedding. But for a long time I called my now husband Batman and he called me Wonder Woman. That’s even how we had each other in our phones. So my mom had made as a surprise for our wedding a topper with me as Wonder Woman and him as Batman with our last name on it. It was beautiful.

Sounds like Kyle wants a cool groom's cake. I have seen some very creative ones.
This is why "his and hers cakes" are a thing.
I wish our baker was that cool. I wanted a cake with red filling and pocked with bullet holes that spurted strawberry sparkly. I got a nature themed cake with piping shaped to look like berries and pine cones. which is nice, but not as cool. My wife also promised me a monkey which has never materialized.
@cathycat4989

A live monkey? If that's what you are referring to, my advice is don't. They bite and scratch and need constant attention because they're social animals. You have to remove their teeth and claws to make them safe. Not a great pet. Get a dog and teach it to use voice buttons to talk if you want a unique pet.

yes very true. its both their wedding. their wish for what the cake should look like should be equal. their cakes should be put side by side, but imo the fact alone that the woman wouldnt Want that, already tells everything. you shouldnt have to convince your partner to have equal say in anything. it should come naturally from someone

Well in fairness it sounded like the *couple* had decided that the cake would be the bride's department. And the bride had done her homework whereas Kyle's cake idea was last minute whimsy. If it was to be a superhero themed wedding then the "Batcake" could have fitted right in. But the bride's design suggests a more conventional wedding that would be upstaged by an ill-considered "joke" cake. tldr: if Kyle wanted equal respect, he needed to have put in equal effort ;-)
@annabaker4150

@@makarabaduk1754 hes putting in the effort because it's half his wedding. It's not HER day it's THEIRS! If she wanted something last minute, you can guarantee it would happen. There is no fairness in that. You just agree with everyone else and that's as scary as it originally was. Of all the things to have an issue with, his own cake can be his. It's not rated R for nudity or gore so he is allowed! That marriage won't last, as long as only her opinion matters. Saying it's silly is one of the stupidest reasons I've ever heard! Exactly my thoughts
Now kile is going to want to mary the baker they are such a good match 😂
That's fantastic!
Some weddings now have a groomscake for that reason lol
We had a "Godzilla and Mothra Take NYC" cake in shades of purple, with a huge Mothra toy on top and a matching Godzilla on the side.
In my part of America we have groom's cakes. It's separate from the wedding cake. Mine was an angel food cake with strawberries because my grandpa had a special diet. My favorite was a red velvet cake shaped and decorated like an armadillo. Somebody had an Alabama football cake one time, which I couldn't eat out of principle.
My husband and I both love a little whimsy, so we probably would have been in agreement about getting a blue cake with matcha flavour and a pair of bunny rabbits in wedding dresses on top 😅
In the States down south they have the “groom’s cake.” It’s historically the 2 square feet the groom has complete creative control, and many take it as a personal challenge. Alice’s cake would have been perfect for that!
Our wedding cake was themed on Adventure Time. 😊
I bet he still ordered the green lemon Batman cake after she's gone and told the baker to give it to him afterwards as a "surprise gift"
Honestly... i had an idea of a wedding cake that has 2 separate bases that join up into a single top. It would symbolise the marriage as 2 separate people, who join their lives together... But i wouldn't want to put any baker through a possible breakdown while making such a cake 😅 I imagine it would be a hell to make

Who knows, you might find someone with the skills to make it a reality.
Can't have cascading pearls and Batman on the same cake. He'll be reminded of his dead parents, specially his mom. It's the reason why Batman exist.
And this is why groom's cakes became a thing. 😂
I want to see this cake 😂
Sounds like the traditional Groom's Cake.
Kyles a pretty cool guy
When she said “green” got me dying 😂 🤣 AND THEN SHE SAID “LEMON” 🤣😂😂😂😂 Edit: he not she
Y’all Kyle is onto something, that cake sounds iconic 😂😂😂😂😂
Well, I guess that's one way to have your cake and eat it, too lol
In the US, some areas do make a grooms cake. My bother had one.
I still think they should’ve agreed to the bride and groom statues on top being Batman. He seemed like he would’ve been fine with that compromise
Taking all gender and politics out of it: If one partner snipes down all of the whimsical suggestions from the other partner for their wedding, that is an early sign of: 1. The sniper partner not being willing to accept input from their soon-to-be spouse 2. The sniper partner being embarrassed or otherwise not wanting to publicly acknowledge a potentially crucial part of the whimsical partner's personality 3. The sniper partner not being open to compromise The wedding is not just sniper partner's big day, but also whimsical partner's. That said, you shouldn't let the whimsical partner stampede over a more traditional partner either. There should always be compromise. Not knowing the couple, but going by the information provided in this video, a decent compromise might have been: Traditional white cake with lemon icing/fill between the layers. The wife's dog biting the bottom as requested with toppers being a traditional bride for her and Batman for him. If she gets her personality figurine on the cake, it's only fair that he does as well. For bonus points, the cascading pearls might be used to tie everything together thematically by either alternating black and white or a universal gray/silver cascade to meet the Batman groom and traditional bride aesthetics somewhere in the middle. The wife still gets her fairly traditional cake, while the husband gets to express his whimsy a bit and has his flavor request heard, but not _too much_ in either direction.
...I would want a photo of that cake...
You were talking on the way over here? 😂😂😂
I all for yellow and blue cake 💙💛
Thats a perfect solution
I'm worried that the woman actually married a man-child that didn't bother to listen to her while going to the bakery. Making him his own cake was sweet though.
To be fair, I think the groom should have just as much say on wedding details. If they can't reach an agreement or compromise, that's sad, but at the very least there should be an attempt or maybe even 2 equally improtant wedding cakes. Yes, they also made the groom's cake but the bride's cake is clearly the actual wedding cake while the groom's is just a personal cake for him.
Diplomacy is the right tool in wedding cake making!
There's not really any need for the scene of booking the consultation. Otherwise, stellar.
