You should compare large cap mutual fund performance with nifty 100 index. Not nifty 50. Large caps are technically the first 100 companies

यह बात सही हैं कि, अधिकतर म्यूच्यूअल फंड (active mutual funds) अपने बेंच मार्क को भी पार ( beat) नहीं कर पाते। अर्थात अपने बेंच मार्क इंडेक्स के बराबर भी रिटर्न्स नहीं दे पाते हैं। कई अपनी केटेगिरी को भी बीट नहीं कर पाते।

Bhai Aapko Patanjali ke sath HUL,ITC, Nestle and P&G ko bhi mention karna chaiye tha. Ya patanjali se jyada pyar hai.

Aap baat to sahi keh rHe ho but AMCs free me apka paisa channelize karegi nahi for every service you have to pay. So problem expense ratio nahi but the return you get from the schemes.

it is worth to mention that a good MF may not beat the benchmark but for a retail investor it provies less volatility and good downside protection than benchmark index, Since most reatil investors can't handle and quit the investment when the market or index is down for a long term but a good mf gives you some return than going the portfolio in negative which is actually motivating to stay and hold the investment.

Same with PM's many cannot bet index

Just one thing, As you said there is no possibility if the chosen MF will be the best performing mf and if we stop the sip after 1 2 yr of bad performance and invest in other mfs and maybe do the same again it will be really bad for us, Right? I think it would be better if we go with index funds as in that case we will not have to analyze the performance of fund, keep an eye on if the managers are getting changed and we can truly leverage the magic of SIP keeping our money invested say for 10 years?
