my grandma had miss kim lilac when i was a kid. i could smell the lilac from bottom of the hill. she passed away last dec 2020. rip grandma.
I live in Southern California, my potted lilacs is doing well. Give me blooms yearly & smell heavenly. I have the deep purple color.
They live 100 years! I had no idea!
I have 2 huge wild trees like this that grows in my garden , cutting a flower down and taking it inside the house brings a really good fresh smell to the home , and they look so nice , love em
You sold me at “almost thrive on neglect” 😅 I was wanting to put a hydrangea hedge (a row of 3-5) against our backyard fence but was told they wouldn’t thrive there (it’s full sun) I’m trying lilacs and praying they work, went with Ludwig spacths…if not there’s always ornamental grasses, thank you so much for the very helpful info 🙏🙏 I even took some written notes
I love lilacs🥺💖💖💖🥰
Yet one of the biggest lilac gardens, the hulda klager is in the temperate Pacific Northwest!! Recommend scentara double blue, blue skies, lavender lady, angel white, dwarf scentara pura and miss kim for moderate zones 7-8
Very useful information especially for those of us who never saw a lilac in their life. ☺️
1921, the first double-colored variety "Dzhambul". Leonid Kolesnikov. Russia. But the sensation has more contrast. The edges are whiter.
I thank you...I have a lilac and boy, when it blooms, it is wonderful and fragrant.
Absolutely love lilacs..I have 3 so far.
last couple years in late June when it gets hot here in Central Iowa our 3 LiLacs in the back loose all thier leaves and appear dead but they come back in the spring, this was not a problem the first 15 years we lived here, we keep our yard up and have the lawn care guys go the spraying
"They thrive off neglect."
So beautiful flowers 👍👌😍💚
So pleasant, your tutorial
Thanks for sharing
Those are so beautiful. Excellent video. I wished I could grow them here in Florida.

I just bought common lilacs from Sam's club in florida. And the woman at home Depot told me they don't grow here because it doesn't get cold enough for them to flower. That's what brought me to this video.
I have two large pots that currently have buxus in but they are diseased and dying. Could I grow lilacs in them?
What do you mean by now is the time to prune , and what time , and also you were showing flowers that has diff color edge but you did not name it
The flowers look like hyacinth flowers and smell similar but hyacinth has an odd sorta after smell. These smell better.
I have three lilac their bout hmm four feet tall but really close to my house they’re facing South West a lot of sun . My question is how close it safe for them to be, l mean because of the roots . Thank all for sharing.
I bought a "Sensation Lilac" that was supposed to be a purple with white striping. It finally bloomed this year and it's light pink and white. No fragrance at all. It's beautiful but I'm disappointed ☹
The deer sure loved eating mine

Some deers come through to eat in my co op community but they seem to stick to eating the hostas mostly. So far, no nibbles on my lilac.

@@saltycat662 I had to fence my so they would grow and flower...after four years of "deer pruning" we put up a fence and now we have flowering lilac. They do love the hosta as well
I wish you could give us the name of lilacs on your table, so I know which breed is I am looking for.
Is it possible to graft a white lilac onto another coloured shrub .
my friend has generously offered me a cutting. i would like to plant it near my deck. what spacing would be correct? she said it can grow up to 10 feet tall? should i assume as wide? thanks
How large do lilac bushes grow
My lilac is not even close enough to your lilac's bloom. My lilacs are 5 y.o. One planted facing east and the other facing west with more intense sunshine. What is wrong with my lilacs or it's me? I live in SE Michigan zone 5.

You’re not cutting them back too late are you or too early cut lilacs back if you’d like three weeks after they bloom then no trimming

Oh no...I have a PW reblooming lilac that I can't wait to see their blooms. Nothing yet. I'm in 9b and what you said, it probably won't get cold enough to bloom the next year? Anything, I can do?

Look into the new Beach Party and Rosie Beach Party lilacs. Folks are reporting that they can bloom in zone 10. (I am trying them in zone 9a, but mine are not yet old enough to bloom.)

@@originalismisacrock166 How many years do I wait for blooms? Is this common with Lilacs?
@originalismisacrock166
Жыл бұрын
@@kfrankism Anywhere from 3-4 to 5-7 years, depending on the variety. All lilacs take a while to mature and bloom (remember, these are big flower clusters). Some varieties can be purchased that are already a year or more old, but I have not found any sources for Beach Party series lilacs of that age. (The variety is really new, and all I have managed to find are really small in 4-inch pots.) Mine are still in their first year but weathered our Florida 9a summer very well. Powdery mildew can be a real problem for lilacs, making a special concern for even those lucky Florida Gardeners in the "far north" of zone 8. There is a lot of information on maturation of lilacs (and what to do if they bloom, but then stop blooming the next year) available online. Hope this answered your questions.

@@lilhungarianjenny Thank you for this information. Do the leaves turn yellow and lose all their leaves now? I will do the ice trick. I hear it's good for peony bare root too in warmer Zones.
