The difference between our FedEx and USPS deliveries today.

Shoutout to our USPS driver for moving all the packages out of the rain.
* This is not an advertisement or an endorsement of one company over another. This is simply showing different approaches to deliveries that happened about 25 minutes apart. There was no damage to the contents of the dropped box. There are great employees at every company and sometimes people are simply having a bad day.*

    To be fair to Amazon drivers, they are treated absolutely terrible by their employer with brutal quotas, and very often have no choice but to go to the bathroom inside their vehicle for it to even be possible to meet said quota or they're fired. If Bezos treated them like actual humans, then maybe they would have actual incentive to take pride in their work. That's the main difference between USPS and Amazon.

  • @MollyT119

    @MollyT119

    @@CaseyLaarkamp those drivers are not employed by Amazon, they’re employed by a third-party service provider who is contracted by Amazon. Many of them are independent contractors. Same goes for the semi drivers. Everyone gives Amazon the tea over it, but it’s the DSP (delivery service provider) companies who puts those quotas on them. And usually because there’s a deadline and a previous driver dropped the ball or bailed.

    Pay structure is to be blamed. -FedEX Ground drivers are salary based so they are always in rush to finish their job in least possible time. -USPS or Canada Post drivers get paid on an hourly basis so they will take their sweet time to provide quality service. My verdict-Delivery drivers should be get paid on an hourly basis. So they don't rush while driving too

    When I used to deliver papers back in the 1990s for the area newspaper, our instructions were 1) In the branded box for the paper if they had 1 2) If they made a special request, such as to slip between the doors, this would be noted on the notes of the route 3) up on the porch right next to their front door At all times it was to be placed in a safe from weather spot if at all possible, not thrown like it is now from a car driving down the street. Had icing one time where the paper delivery slid across our driveway into our neighbors yard under the tree halfway across their yard. These drivers don't seem to care about their customer service. When I did it before being laid off to hire these drivers, I made sure the papers were where they were requested to be. I took pride in my work. Seems this USPS driver does too, and our regular USPS driver is the best. We can tell when a substitute driver comes by.

    As a letter carrier for usps in a 55 and older community I agree with this video. Where I deliver most residents have gates that open to a patio. Amazon and fedex just drop the package at the gate instead of stepping in and walking 15 feet to the door. We also have many speed limits of 15 to 20 mph. Amazon and fedex usually go ripping down the street at 2 to 3x the posted limit. I will say ups drivers are very conscientious as well.

  • @Mrunknown21007
    @Mrunknown210072 жыл бұрын

    it's not UPS or FedEx or USPS who force their delivery drivers to deliver that way, but the morals and disciplines of each driver that push him to deliver the packages properly. I worked as a seasonal personal vehicle driver with UPS, I always take care of the package as mine, I put in mind that it may be something fragile inside the package, or maybe a gift that a kid is waiting for, I found FedEx and Amazon packages under the rain completely wet, I put my packages and theirs in a bags as well to protect it from the rain. I do it right because that's how I grew up, no because UPS or residents are watching me on a Camera, but I know God is watching me and he is gonna reward me for that noble act. I have found boxes just left in the common areas near our community mailbox stand, under the stairwell, left at neighbors' doors, and notices left to pick up when there was enough room to fit the item in our box. These things only happen when our regular guy is off (I know he's off that day because I started keeping a lookout to see who was doing deliveries when I expected a package and who bothered to do their job right vs who took every shortcut they could and rushed through the deliveries, making mistakes). Many years ago our UPS driver did something out of the ordinary that my company gained benefit from. Being the appreciative guy that I am, I called the local terminal to brag about our driver. The next day our driver told me to never call the terminal. He was written up for breaking company rules, not commended for helping a customer. The driver told me that he would continue providing better service as long as I promised to never call the terminal again. Big business run by rules and not by the Golden Rule is never good.

The problem is the package delivery has exploded and our routes aren’t set up for this kind of delivery as we are on a set time limit. Also, the hiring process is much different today than in the past. For a while, the Postal Service could only hire one in 20 due to people not passing the drug screening. The people who do our hiring in my city aren’t qualified to do the background checks needed so we get the worse kinds.

    Work in an industry that sends out a lot of certified letters. Some years ago we had a USPS carrier that would pick them up from us and bring back the post marked receipts the next day instead of the normal procedure of us going to the PO daily, and standing in line to the the receipts stamped. Especially fun in December. Miss him.
