I don't understand why I love the Dickies so much, but I do. Some of the best shows I have ever been to.

What's not to love? The longstanding clown princes of punk. They still put on a great show, even 40+ years later. Only the humorless don't love the Dickies.

Caught them this past Sunday at the Rainbow's Summer Bash. They were a last minute fill in for someone, not sure who.

One of the truly great American Punk Bands!

I saw these Guys in 78 in Sheffield England. Absolutley fantastic. Got to meet Stan Lee in the audiance before their slot. Great night

I keep wondering if that's his real name. I know lots of people that get famous don't want their personal life impinged upon so they only publicize a pseudonym. That's so good that you got to go to a Dickies concert. Did any other bands play the same stage that night?

Know who I got to see from your part of the planet: Sham 69 and GBH , very excellent! 🍻 S69 opened for Bad Religion and GBH with Murphy's Law🥳😬😵‍💫😄 They were 2 separate nights and venues.

Absolutely Brilliant Outstanding Footage The Dickies are still my Favourite Punk Band to this day

i saw them open up for the Ramones at One Step Beyond in Santa Clara. changed my fuckin life. i will love the Dickies till i die.

To all the young punk rockas carrying the cause and the to the veterans who know this from their experience-if you have to decide on a band to see live and The Dickies are in that mix -just remember "you cannot go wrong with seeing "The Dickies"! I’m 17, My band and I have played some shows with The Dickies before and they definetly kill it live! One of my favorite bands of all time.

Gotta say- The live video and the studio tracks line up nicely. Gotta love The Dickies. Just those hollow pauses between songs... I do feel 16 again. So good!

I have watched this many times and I thank you many times.

What great quality. First time I saw them was 83 at the Galaxy Roller Rink in Fullerton! Saw them again at Olympic Auditorium, Fenders, Country Club, Cypress College and Roller Dome in Placentia!!! One of the best bands to see live!!!! Do it before they are gone for good!!!!!!!!!

Independent I didn't go to see them, but you were local then. I saw Social Distortion at Ichabods in Fullerton 84, I loved the local scene then, The Dickies were one of my favorites

The best punk band ever hands down. Such an influence on my teens.

"You Drive Me Ape" is not only a great melodic punk tune, but this video is very entertaining as well. Thanks for posting this Rockshort.

First heard the Dickies in '79...a cover of Black Sabbath's "Paranoid". Been a fan ever since. The 'We Aren't The World" CD is the bomb!

3 people have no clue, or take things to seriously, Dickies, Punk but lighter side of it. Bit of fun. Love em.

The Dickies ~ Raw Footage (5 songs) 2313pm 11.12.22 wot yer listening to there is two siblings arguing circa 1979... about one of them kicking the other's head in when he gets older. whether that was a literal or psychological kick-in is for one to ponder, i suppose. no idea why the long pauses as they're only miming...

pretty cool fact the bassist lorenzo also played in FEAR, really nice guy hes got some very cool solo projects!!

My band Earth, Worm, &, Fire was literally a Dickies tribute band based in eastern KY. hmmm can't figure out why we never made it.

When I first read 'Steve Hufstetter' I thought "Whoa... Human from the Vandals was in the Dickies?!" and had to go look up Human's last name. =P

Yep. This was the line-up the first time I saw them, in either late '81 or early '82. Hufsteter is an amazing guitarist. Having him up there with Stan gave it that extra something. Would have loved to have seen them with Chuck Wagon, but it was right after he killed himself.

I used to listen to these guys in the 80's riding USA BMX bikes in Sydney Australia the now famous Five Dock Park but back then the bowl and the burns as I referred to it you rode the bowl and jumped the burns anyway....years later I moved to Melbourne and not in my wildest dream would I believe a band so far away I would ever see I was mistaken yep it took over three decades later but the Dickies Live at The Bendigo Hotel at Collingwood I was gob smacked all my dream came true and either before or not long after Agent Orange at the same place now if we could double that gig up and also move it up the road to the Tote no offence Bendigo your place is awesome too well I'm sure we could repeat that Fun once more.....

@@stevebauer3355 That's Steve Huffsteter , I hope I spelled his name accurately. He was also in the supergood band The Quick. He wrote the song "Pretty, Please Me". There's songs in youtube by The Quick ,you should listen👍

Seen The Dickies 5-6 times between 1979 and 1982, and I always said that a match made in heaven would have been The Dickies and The Buzzcocks on the same bill,, that would have been unreal

There biggest & most fun, they were a fun band, never taken seriously and had some talent "You drive me Ape" was there 15 minutes in the 🌞. I wish they had more...?

Looks like raw footage from the Rocky Road Show, a local LA cable show that had cool bands like Missing Persons.

LA was where it was all happening. NYC had CBGB's and Max's Kansas City. We had Rodney Bingenheimer on KROQ-FM and Bomp Records' retail store on Laurel Canyon Blvd., where all the Punk bands met on Saturday afternoons. Punk clubs were springing up all over LA and Orange Counties: The Masque, Club 88, Cukoo's Nest, Madame Wong's (East & West), Hong Kong Cafe, Atomic Cafe, Perkin's Palace, the Viper Room, and dozens more. For my money, The Dickies, from the San Fernando Valley (Home of too many Valley Girls - or "Vals") were the most original, melodic, and over-the-top bands of the era.

a lot of old footage like this is lip syncing. they really didnt have the same technology we have today to capture live studio quality audio and video

They're not lip syncing...it's just taken straight from the desk as opposed to being live recording from the room.
