Erwin is the goat. He’s the best side character in all of anime. Give floch some credit. Erwin’s speech wouldn’t have happened if he didn’t hear floch crying that all there deaths will be meaningless

Erwin is so awesome. This was a great character analysis. I didn't take to the Eren gang in the first season so it took me a while to get into AoT. As soon as Erwin was introduced, I started getting hooked. I found him to be the most fascinating character by far. By the end of the first season, he was my favourite character in AoT. By the end of the second season, he was one of my favourite characters ever. I'm not ashamed to admit that by season 3 I was a screaming fangirl every time Erwin was on screen... much to the annoyance of my friend who I was binging the series with, because we had to keep rewinding the Erwin scenes since I struggled to focus on the subtitles and would miss major story points... The end of the season absolutely shattered me😢 it took me a while to get over my bitterness and accept that Levi made the right choice letting him be at peace. That being said, my main motivation for season 4 is that I want to see that fucking monkey dead. (And 100% agree with you - Floch is a major piece of 💩)

It has to also eat at you when you see Armin crying nearly every damn scene in season 4 knowing the sacrifice made to keep him alive because I'm not gonna lie, I'm so bitter I'm turning yellow.

I am thinking about covering him, Connie, and Sasha in one longer video as I think their characterization is intertwined towards the end of the series. Regardless of whether I do that or not, I will cover him in the future!

@@SpaceCowboyKZreadohh that would be so amazing!! They remind me of how Eren, Mikasa and Armin are together ( or start together. Later on they split up) and Jean, Connie and Sasha stick together and the attack on Marley when what happens to Sasha ( I won’t spoil it in case for some reason they haven’t been spoiled yet lol) and the feelings of care and love they have for each other, just melts my heart. I love those three.

He's a classic ENTJ. "ENTJ (Commander) is a personality type with the Extraverted, Intuitive, Thinking, and Judging traits. They are decisive people who love momentum and accomplishment. They gather information to construct their creative visions but rarely hesitate for long before acting on them. People with the ENTJ personality type (Commanders) are natural-born leaders. Embodying the gifts of charisma and confidence, ENTJs project authority in a way that draws crowds together behind a common goal. However, these personalities are also characterized by an often ruthless level of rationality, using their drive, determination, and sharp mind to achieve whatever objectives they’ve set for themselves. Their intensity might sometimes rub people the wrong way, but ultimately, ENTJs take pride in both their work ethic and their impressive level of self-discipline."

I have a theory that was very intentional. Everyone always tells me “dude that’s his death throes” and I’m like “yeah no it most definitely is, but I think that whatever consciousness he had left was expended trying to tell Levi to choose armin while still being delirious from actively dying”

I think Erwin's goal of saving humanity was just something that he developed unconsciously to justify his actions. It went hand in hand with learning the truth. To learn the truth you need to help humanity and sacrifice lives, but it's not his real goal, it's just a sad delusion he created so that he can look in the mirror and eyes of his comrades. When it came down to choosing humanity vs the truth, he realised that he was deluding himself and what he actually wants is to go to the damn basement. Confesses to Levi that everything he did was because of that basement. He would've fucked up everything in order to find out the truth he and his father always seeked, but his dead comrades caught up to his remorse. He killed so many people for a fucking basement is why he needed that justification, and now that he can't have both, it's only the souls of his dead comrades who made him choose humanity. He was a devil all along, sacrificing people for a selfish goal. But in the end, his remorse and inner humanity turned him into a hero. Which is incredibly weird and beautiful. He went from one side of the spectrum to the other in a matter of minutes. You are not appreciating Erwin's true character in my opinion and neglect the most important parts which made him special to any other leader and character. He is far more complicated than you portray him in my opinion.

As to how he was capable of ordering his soldiers to advance if he doesn't even care about humanity, in that sense he is a little similar to Reiner. He deluded himself to the point that he even believed it.

Great video I love Erwin he is my second favourite character behind Floch Even tho I can tell you don't like Floch from couples clips here but I would still love a dissection like this on his character Floch like Erwin was someone who had to change to give his people a fighting chance The difference is he wasn't as intelligent as Erwin nor as strong as Levi nor had the powers of Eren He is the embodiments of average guy who had to take on extreme odds I hope you can do a video on him A lot of people ignore him cause he became this controversial subject when in fact it's just some argument with hate as it's base

I agree with almost every summation put forth in this video bar the "Con man" point. I understand why you would disagree with Erwin owns summation of himself but I don't think he's entirely wrong. I took it as a personal shot to his own morality, that Erwin thinks of himself as a "Con man" morally. He probably felt he betrayed himself in a moral sense but even if I'm far off I enjoy even the discussions his character inspires

Currently rewatching and iirc correctly they mention it after they get the wall priest who tells them about Historia being important. I think they went under briefly and showed him the people there to guilt him into talking. I understood that there really wasn’t enough room for all the refugees. Levi even comments about it but he doesn’t mention how he knows what it’s like, he just says it’s filthy

Not enough space, lack of sunlight, if you want all of humanity to go underground then they wont even have enough to eat and drink, and would take a massive construction work to create enough space for all of humanity. Also the undercity was an abandoned project
