I've never seen The Wire - I'd LOVE to watch it along with you guys!!!! I think there are lots of people in the same boat who would watch a weekly episode review! PLEASE DO IT!

I lived in NYC in the '70s, met some of the people involved in the sex trade -- including a street walker who had no pimp. Her heroin addiction was too expensive, more than likely, and she had a 5 year old daughter to support.

YES PLEASE WATCH THE WIRE AND DO REACTIONS. The fact that there are no reactions to The Wire on KZread is one of the reasons why humanity doesn't really deserve to survive.

Please do a rewatch of the wire. That would be pretty cool.

Excited for this show, but hell yeah I'd rewatch The Wire a third time with this crew. Like a book club of incredible television.

Much of it was shot in Washington Heights . I believed it was mentioned in "Inside the episode'

Yes - watch the Wire and review it. We heard it was a great show and honestly hated it at first Found myself cringing from the language But... my daughter rewatched it and we tried it again. It really is better than you can imagine Best character development of all shows and we already saw 3 guys from the show on The Deuce - the nice cop was Deangelo, one of my favorite characters on the Wire My other 2 fav shows - Homicide (until Andre Braugher left) and The Shield - both worth reviewing even though they're old

I dropped off the initial run of 'The Wire' at episode 2, because I felt like it wasn't going anywhere. But after watching Simon's following shows, I picked up on how he "sets the table" and then immerses the audience. The 'plot' is much more unconventionally revealed, and often resolved (barely) in unconventional way, because his intent is to show you "the World" this is taking place in, and how real life "narratives" play out much differently from more conventional fiction. It's a risk taking that approach, but if you kind of sidle up for the ride, you start to grasp its worth. Once I understood that I was able to much better appreciate how The Wire does things (still haven't finished re-watching that run yet though--or really actually "first-watching with a re-appreciation? but I delve in for a handful of episodes at a time).

Decided to start watching this after these guy started to review it :) Ben and Alonso reviews of The night of and People vs OJ simpson made those shows twice as enjoyable. Gonna be another good 8 weeks of discussions from these 3.

You guys need to do a retro watch/reivew of The Wire so fans can enjoy along with you. I can't believe so many What The Flick guys haven't seen it!

I think you should have to watch The Wire at least three times through before you’re allowed to review any television show or movie.

It was okay. Better than Vinyl.

This first episode was a beast

I hope they credit the origin of this show. It is based on an excellent novel Take Her to the Dark Side the things a woman's body was made for. It is out of print for decades.

Hey What The Flick or anybody as well, but which would you recommend I watch first, The Wire or The Sopranos. I know an easy answer is both but I just don't have time to watch both at the same time. I know I sound like I actually have a life and stuff.

Evan Green It is, yeah, but I watched it five years later and I also spoiled myself on various points, so it's open to debate how good it'll be fresh to someone that's watching it for the first time nowadays. I think seasons 1 & 4 were the best, personally.

Great review I did one as well on my channel! I think this show has a lot of potential!

I'll echo the ringing endorsement for a Wire series; I only want to suggest leaving off midway through the 4 season where we're supposed to have given a shit about the trite mayor and the boring chief of police as all the endearing characters are left behind as foot soldiers in the money war.

This is a pretty good review, but I just didn't care for the show at all. (It was the Mitchell brothers, btw)

I lost all respect for the Wire when I watched an interview with the director and a writer. They said they had no real master plan and they kinda went with things episode to episode. I already had the impression that interactions and scenarios were so far removed from reality they had twin peaks vibe. And I hated that show too. :p

i thought this show was REALLY boring.

I plan on watching this just as soon as they fire James Franco.
