Almost a week later and I’m still impacted by Lori’s story. I wanted a better ending for her. That scene was so hard to watch and even harder to process. I mean she’s a fictional character and I cried like she was my friend.

It was one of the most shocking moments I've seen in a TV show. She didn't seem like she was at the end of her rope, but when you put it all together, she was. It' like nobody, including the audience could see how much pain she was in.

First off I loved this show since season 1, episode 1! It's David Simon so you already know! Lol But this episode was really heartbreaking! Lori needed someone from her past to grab her & save her from herself! No family. No CC. No steady work. No career outside of porn really let her with no choices. I rewatched this episode many times, last night. She was kinda brave. She seemed sober & she didn't cry or hesitate about it. She didn't seem scared. She had NOTHING. She felt like her story was done. But this show made me think of all of the sex workers/porn stars coming up in NYC around this time. All of the death & destruction! I wonder about the deaths of ppl like Lori. I try to imagine it but I just can't. Great show. Great loss. I'll miss it.

I was praying for Candy to just ask Lori to spend the night with her, but it turns out Candy is not the feminist hero she thinks she is and is just another POS that contributed to Lori's suicide. One of the more impacting episodes of television I've ever watched. David Simon is the best in the biz, hands down.

I kept on thinking 'Shauna Grant,' especially after she went back to Minnesota and then shot herself. Grant's real name was Colleen Andersen and she was from Minnesota. When Candy/Eileen asked her what her real name was and she refused to tell her and then her last line, after she got in the car with her last trick and he asked her name - 'Gail.'

This is not to knock David Simon. I enjoyed "The Deuce" for what it was. It wanted to be the sixth, seventh, and eighth season of The Wire, but it wasn't. It lacked the development. But that's OK. We got the idea of what it was trying to do. The Wire really drove home its deeper points and insight into the breakdown of institutions that were no longer interested in serving the society that created them. The audience had to do some of the lifting for The Deuce, but The Wire had trained us well to do this. So it's all good.
