These scenes at the bar - and in later seasons the clubs - were always the best. Even if something dramatic or sad was happening, the characters had a real familial vibe. It always came off as joyous to me when they were all working in their element partying together.

I liked big mike especially when he helped Vincent track down and get the dude who killed Frankie later in the series

I never really liked Abby as a character but I can't deny she was the best looking woman on the show by far.

well said lol. How the hell does the privileged girl from Connecticut become the grass roots leader against gentrification? I guess that was sorta the point but who knows. And the lesbian dalliance seemed sorta forced - they had some hot scenes but wasn't really sure what they were trying to say with all of that...just an experimental phase I guess?

This show just randomly started popping up in my feed recently. KZread algorithm being trolly I guess. The Deuce was a really good show, but for whatever reason it just wasn't creating a buzz that other HBO shows like Sopranos, True Blood, Game of Thrones or more recently Euphoria have. Its very good and I recommend anyone who reads this that hasn't seen it to give it a chance.

the james franconess of it all probably didn't help. Its ratings dropped and they lost viewers after every subsequent season. I agree with you, I think its a solid show and would recommend it. But it lacks that certain something that those other popular shows had which would have made it more popular. I think at times it was hard to root for or care about some of the characters, and inevitably with a huge ensemble some of the story lines were well thought out and others seemed to be cast aside. At the end of the day if you are into HBO 1 hour dramas its a must watch, but I understand why it doesn't make every top 25 list for HBO shows all time, its not even the best David Simon show and its not close.

Do you have that scene where the camera follows Candy walking through a nightclub/bar with Barry White playing in the background
