This episode kept millions of ten year-olds glued to their black and white TV sets back in 1965. I know, because I was one of them!
Always loved the J2 engine sounds !

It sounds awesome.
Always loved the design of the Jupiter 2. Simple, elegant and functional. A spaceship *_and_* a colonist home all in one.
Greatest Hollywood engines ever

AGREED !
Watched this TV series when it was first run, and l was 7 years old. One of my favorite episodes. Love that engine sound!
Never gets old.
Definitely a favorite as it's number 2 of the first 5. The best first 5 episodes of a television series ever in my opinion!
The sound of the Jupiter 2 engine inside the hull of this alien ship!
I loved how smoothly Irwin made fly the J2 around the Derelict in these seen. For me the spaceship it is a work of art in its design. During the late the 60's I used to put two cardbord together and play with'em in many adventures. One day during the 90's I sarted my collection of all the models available till the 00's..

I was also impressed by the moving shadows of the alien ship against its own hull as it rotated -- very realistic.
My favorite show before Star Trek, still in love with Penny, five are still with us.👍❤️🇺🇸

It's been almost 60 years since I first saw this. Gad. Well, still love it.
What a great scene and what an amazingly original space ship. Love it.
Yuppers I’m another “old” guy now that saw the original airing and for decades beyond re-runs. Liked the stories. Especially Father & Son, Family and adventures. Never got into Dr. Smith. Other elements were great. The music was perfection. Who knew all those years ago that it was the great John Williams. Yes. Star Wars, Indy, ET, Memoirs of a Geisha and SO many more!!
One of the most incredible filming of its time. The Jupiter flight around the unique looking derelict ship is just superb. Great scene and very surreal. Truly SciFi.👍✨🌟💫
I watched some of this show as a child, and I'm working my way through the episodes now. This one was great. It's nice to see the Jupiter II land without crashing.
Watched this episode and #3 2 nights ago. Only episode that shows the lower view port open from 5he outside on the model.
Great special effects all done with models. Terrific.
WE'RE NOT GOING TO "COLLIDE", WE'RE GOING TO GO INSIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LONG LIVE THE JUPITER 2 SPACESHIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The first season was definitely chocked full of great stories. Maureen Robinson doing a spacewalk a couple of decades before a woman really did it for the first time? The story about the antimatter universe where Don and John found their anti selves? Great stuff!

@@captainpoppleton Great story.
Wait a minute, I've seen that texture before.... Is that advanced alien spacecraft's surface made out of Styrofoam? Ingenious, call NASA!

At the 3:00 mark the captivating Jupiter 2 engine sound was used again in “Planet of the Apes” when the spaceship Icarus makes its entry into the atmosphere, prior to landing in a lake.

@@bomat761 I stand corrected…”going…going…gone”.
In the early episodes Dr Smith was a cold-blooded killer. Biggest mistake they made was turning him into a bumbling fool later on
I blame John. He was far too blasé about the potential danger. West knew but followed orders.
THESE SHORT CLIPS ARE NERVE RACKING! I LIKE TO SEE A DESCENT AMOUNT OF LOST IN SPACE . 😮😅😂

Decent.
If Dr Smith had not shot the Lazer at the creatures while they were in suspended animation, maybe the Robinsons wouldn't be charged with crimes in Space when the show switched to color.
I would race home from school to see LIS.

Yeah. Boy, the heat 🔥 from that comet would have burnt it to a cinder😮😂. 🤓😎✌🏻😝

Well Don warned them 🤷♀️
When Doctor Smith was trapped on board The Jupiter 2 he was wearing a Class-A Uniform! Question: wear did Doctor Smith get the Jumpsuit?!?!
Before it went all funky on us🙄

0:33 What the heck is Dr Smith saying in his call back to earth?

“Aeolus 14 Umbra”…a designated secret code name.
Doctor Smith was a Commie agent in first few episodes and a very flamboyant man. Show went downhill when colorized. Just imagine the implications of rainbow colors!
I loved the show as well growing up. The first seasons first episodes were the best. Unfortunately it became somewhat corny. It was the following year in 1966 that star Trek came out on the screen and perhaps took away an audience who wanted something more serious and realistic. I still liked Lost in Space and as i kid have some fond memories.
As a kid, this was the most frightening episode so far. What was that thing? Who made it? What's inside? OMG it's got a mouth! It's eating the Jupiter! So dramatic! I'll always resent Jonathon Harris for turning the show into a vehicle for his annoying af character - I wanted to reach through the screen, pull him out and throw him in the trash cans on the curb outside.
WHO EVER CAME UP WITH THIS ALIEN SPACE SHIP GREAT JOB, LOOKS VERY SPOOKY AND SCARY WHEN IT OPENED UP THATS THE PART THAT REALLY GOT ME NOT TO MENTION THE BUBBLE CREATURES IN SIDE MAJOR WEST WAS RIGHT ABOUT DR SMITH GOING OFF BY HIMSELF LOOKING FOR SIGNS OF LIFE ON THE SHIP .📺📺📺📺📺📺📺🎬🎬🎬🎬🎬🎬
Run to the back of the flight deck … meanwhile the whole ship is going into an alien craft, lazy writing.
