I can't say I'm very surprised about the scores. However I think they are entirely fair. Even if I don't agree with Dan's number I can see where it comes from. I love this game, even if it is the most rough Souls game and obviously has a fair share of issues. Every boss outside of Penetrator, Allant, Flamelurker, Maneaters, and Dirty Colossus are gimmick bosses. World and Character Tendency are nigh inscrutable without a guide and affect quite a lot. The inventory burden system is strange and esoteric. Weapon upgrades are strange and can ruin weapons unless you know exactly what you are doing. Only 3 boss soul weapons are useful as actual weapons. Grass as healing sucks. No plunging attacks REALLY sucks after all the other games. However I love this game. Once you get to know it even the steep difficulty spike of NG+ becomes relatively easy. There's several ways to break this games legs and if you do all of them at once it becomes child's play. The Clever Rat's Ring combined with an off hand Morion Blade gives you a 140% damage boost at low HP. You can combine that with most magic, but especially Soul Ray, Homing Soul Arrow, and Firestorm to just erase bosses. You can get a Talisman of Beasts to cast both Miracles and Magic, grab Second Chance which revives you with half HP if you die from anything other than falling and just kind of not worry about most things. A Sticky Compound Longbow really does help deal with some shit that's far away. It's enjoyable finding this stuff that just cracks this game like those fucking KH3 eggs. There's nothing like these games and obviously they aren't for everyone, but I think that's fine. Can you imagine how miserable this genre would be if it were pandering hardcore? Just as a side note Demon's Souls really does have the hardest NG+ in the series. In this one they decided to spike the difficulty and then make a gentle upward slope to NG+7 which isn't that much harder than NG+. In the rest of the series it's a much smaller spike and then a slightly steeper curve up to NG+7. World Tendency sucks. It's a cool idea but it's bad. I love the idea of items you can get to just change it. At least they got rid of the OG's online average of World Tendency. For whatever reason it would average everyone's tendency online whenever you returned to the Nexus. That means generally speaking your worlds would be at Grey which was boring and made the extra stuff impossible. Thank god they took that out. Not that it matters for anyone on the podcast, but if the world is Pure Black you can sling it right back to pure white by killing each worlds primeval demon, it looks like a big parasite, and also killing the NPC black phantom before returning to the Nexus. Kind of a pain in the ass, but less so now that you can warp to archstones in the same world. This comment was longer than I wanted it to be. However, I enjoyed listening to this. I hope you managed to have some fun. Thanks for pumping out so many podcasts and bringing some fun and joy to this awful year. Be well and enjoy your holidays!

There are potentially 3 people who can kill NPC's in Bloodborne- the Nun, Iosefka, and the Beggar. The Nun only kills the Prostitute if you use the latter's blood 3 times. If you look at the Nun whenever you're talking to the Prostitute, she actually starts staring daggers at you. Iosefka is a nurse you can talk to at the start of the game, but after beating the first real boss, her voice and demeanor entirely change. She then asks you to send people to her. Bad idea, she experiments on everyone you send there and you have to fight their transformed state when you break in later on.The other one is the Beggar. He's obviously shifty as fuck and doesn't even sit inside of the church if you send him there. He kills everyone over time.

The murderer that dan was thinking of was a Nun who you can rescue in Bloodborne. She starts off nice, and can not kill anyone at all if you’re careful, but if you save the whore and take her blood 3 times, the nun will kill her out of spite.

In bloodborne there's definitely a murderer. There's this weird dude covered in blood next to a corpse. If you send him to the church, hell slowly eat everyone there but give you VERY minor rewards every time. If you attack him, he turns into a 13 foot tall werewolf and tries to beat the shit out of you, but I think if you kill him you get a glyph and a bunch of blood echoes. BUT you can get the glyph much easier by sending him to the impostor who turns him into a docile alien who dies in one hit.

It was entertaining to listen to people who didn't sell their souls to From Soft in 2013 and haven't looked back since. It's so easy to lose perspective when it comes to these games, especially if you hang around the fanbase a lot. If you are "lucky" enough to have the games plant their specific brand of brain spider eggs in your head, then you simply can't get enough of them and a lot of other games lose their luster. It feels worth it to me, but that might be the brain spiders talking. Also, there's a man in Sekiro with an eye-PATCH who points you towards treasure in a pagoda that houses an ambush. Said man later becomes a merchant who sells some decent stuff after giving up on robbing people. Something tells me Miyazaki hasn't given up on his favourite character just yet and that we'll see him in Elden Ring.

Shame that they found so much wrong with the game because I played the PS3 version a few weeks ago and I found a lot to love about it. Even preferred it to DS1 and 2 in some respects, which I first played immediately after it (already beat the others long ago). It was also a lot less obnoxious with its bullshit, less "fuck you, there was an enemy at the side of the small room you just entered slightly off-camera" and such. Screw the dragon in 1-4 though, I'll agree with that.

I'm glad they added the shortcut to bypass the first part with the two Fat Officials. It was a welcome addition especially considering the second section of fire is notoriously annoying to get past.

I'm a psychotic person and I'll freely admit it but I love Dark Souls 2 in a way cause even though it had a lotta bullshit it still has a lot of characteristics about it that keep me coming back like an absolutely insane level of character customization when it comes to armor and weapons and it has some truly unique aspects to the difficulty of certain areas and the fact you can make certain areas harder if you so choose for better loot and drops to make more interesting weapons. Hell i still have friends i'll play with online and co-op with that game is probably the most fun I ever had. DS3 is good too but its too fanfic-y for my taste and the second DLC is awful in my opinion. Demon's souls is an interesting window into the past of the franchise and seeing where From has been and where it is now. lotta things havent changed but a lot also has and sure its not a series for everyone. It was nice to hear opinions from the other side of the fence in a way from dan and bob cause I doo feel From games need improvement in a LOT of ways. Anyway great spoilercast I look forward to yer next vid, guys.

I love all the games for different reasons. However I agree especially with the assessment about 2. Even in Scholar of the First Sin. Sure the game has plenty of groups trying to steal your lunch money, but they tend to die in 2-3 hits and you can just cleave through entire packs. Having a bow or anything ranged helps as well because you can either take out a prime target, like the pyromancer ladies, or pull less of the pack. Dark Souls 2 has some of my favorite bosses in the entire series, as well as some of my least favorite. Overall it was very fun.
