This takes me back, I remember watching this when it was first distributed.I was in 16 Field squadron, 25 Engineer Regiment, Royal Engineers, Osnabruck as a 'knocker'/pac driver 1984 -1986 and this was our bread & butter during the cold war. Always had a seniority list in the section in case someone was taken out. Lost count of the number of times I ran up a bowstring bridge on a hot summers day with hayricks in each hand preping a bridge for dems, saw a few dropped in the water when placing them on the girders. How the field gear and vehicles have changed. This only seems like yesterday.

'All on the safety fuse now Sir!' Classic line, on a par with 'Zulus, thousands of them' :0)

Per Zufall auf dieses Video gestoßen. Lang ist her.

God I haven`t seen this film in 30 years,I was in BAOR in 29 fd sqn, 35 Engr Regt from `85 to `88 and I remember spending countless hours on top of bowstring bridges prepping them for demolition, hard fucking work and I was always terrified I`d fall off, I wasn't worried about falling into the water but some of the bridges we trained on were bloody enormous and if you fell onto the road from the top that was you dead or seriously injured.

Damned good show. Always wondered how this would happen when I was in Germany ('81 - '83).

Not really. Last one I took part in was 2011. Could be wrong but I don’t think they bother any more which is obviously a bad move
