In the past three elections I've voted independent. The only way Democrats could get a consideration of my vote from Trump would be for them to hold a primary open to registered democrats. That wouldn't include me but in this novel situation I couldn't consider a nominee that didn't get a reasonable amount of popular support. It's really the only chance I wouldn't vote for Trump this time.

With all that expressed, what I can categorically state is that the United States, is already into its equivalent of Rome's, Crisis of the Third century. And as it was for Rome, the US, snd, indeed, Britain, more so - and, to a less degree, throw in Western Europe, too - are screwed beyond salvation. And the common denominator with them all is the insanity of imagining that, they csn function efficiently when facilitating mass intakes of immigrants from diverse cultures and WORST of all, religions, and imagine they won't fracture.

Not a chance. As a populist with neither Trump's charisma nor Bernie Sanders' experience, he only appeals to people who are desperate for another anti-establishment candidate (and most of them will vote Trump anyway). As a Democrat, he'd be completely out of lockstep with the base of the party, notably on foreign policy matters (i.e. he's anti-NATO and anti-Ukraine, but more pro-Israel than Biden). He also strongly pushes conspiracy theories that are unpopular with liberals and leftists, and his environmental policies are those of an aging hippie, not a scientifically literate politician.
