Perturabo NEVER wanted to be an instrument of war, but the big-E couldn't have two Rogal Dorn's so Perturabo got the ultimate shafting in become the pre-eminent siege god of the Imperium. Even spending ages doing something he absolutely hated he was still the absolute best at it. Not to mention that he almost won every major fight he was ever in even with other primarchs. Perturabo is the definition of overcoming ALL the adversity towards those who spurned and discarded him with the biggest middle finger.

Tbh I think that he was the true omnissiah, his ingenuity and intellect for machines and architecture was far beyond anything seen before, the siege of Terra failed because horus gave command of the siege to morty... And that was the last straw perty just got fed up with everyone and left the siege... Then it fell apart, oh and he was the only one keeping most of his brothers together for the siege. I think because he is a traitor, he had to get a crappy and spiteful lore, not a whole well thought out piece. Most of the traitor primarch are just mustache twirling villans from what I see.

I genuinely think GW makes Guilliman not as impressive in feats of strenght from his brothers to blindside you to his insane actual achievements, I mean the 500 worlds of Ultramar are not only 5 0 0 worlds under constant watch and relative control but also probably some of the best worlds a human could ask to live in, in this grimdark universe. None of his brothers can hold a candle to achieving even a glimpse of what the Imperium is about, an e m p i r e of mankind a place where humanity makes its stand. Where his brothers shine as warriors, strategists and architects of war Guilliman is conqueror, ruler and mason of progress. Guilliman is the only one that truly understood the assignment the Emperor gave to his sons and excelled at it while being much less of an asshole than his dad.

True he's a master of politics and logistics and he held his own against two brothers at once. But he didn't start out from scratch with Ultramar. His own adopted daddy already was in control of a stellar empire with at least 100 worlds. Most of his brothers started out on primitive or poor worlds with few resources. Only Dorn, Magnus and maybe Alpharius and Horace had multi world empires. Corax, Faris, Fulgrim, Konrad, Vulkan and Angron had galactic trade with merchant ships. Not that mattered to Angron.

@@pablo1006pr I remember it mostly from the book Fulgrim: The Palatine Phoenix. Fulgrim was jealous that Chemos was not the respectable multiplanet Empire that Dorn and Guilliman were in charge of before the Emperor showed up. Inwit and Macragge had their own fleets. Which means that they had they're own Navigator houses and knowledge of that level of technology.

The Leman Russ Rune Priest thing is: his people (and those of the Khan), had mystic practices that didn't involve trying to over reach and just jump into the deep end. They had practices and procedures that were tried, tested, and proved. MAGNUS, as much as I sympathize with him, thought he could do no wrong and never BE wrong no matter how or where he delved into the Warp, and even insulted their practices as completely inferior. Russ had every right to be distrustful and angry, and I'm told that after learning he was tricked into trying to wipe out his brother he felt genuine regret for letting his feelings blind him.

lol No. The Rune priests went too far with bargaining with Warp entities in the gates of Morkai. Maybe they were World spirits but they were still malicious, forcing Russ to sacrifice a heart and a part of his being. Kind of like how Magnus gave up an eye. They did have an ignorant misbegotten arrogance when it came to their own practices, somewhat similar to the Thousand sons being fooled by demons.

You mean practises including DEFINANTLY A DAEMON 'World Spirit' of Fenris? The problem with Rune Priests they are both hypocrites and ignorant. Magnus while dived too deep recklessly was right. Innovation IS needed and as we saw he was right about the fate of Imperium too.

Honestly I don't think there's enough credit given to Russ, the mans nuanced, well written and has an amazing arc. When he goes all out he's a fucking beast while also being incredibly cunning. He broke Magnus, played Angron and brought Horus to his knees there are few others in the entire setting capable of doing the same.

@@freudlindell6343 He kills Horus and it's a major blow to the traitors but someone else immediately replaces him, he saves Horus and brings him back to the loyalist side that completely turns the Heresy on its head. It was worth the risk especially when he had already achieved his goal. And shit it's not like Russ is the only one the Lion refused to kill both Curze and Luther.

The psychic spear had wounded him but it was really the trauma of Horus and the sundering of his spirit that was the problem. Maloghurst had to Get the attention of Horus's conscience. And Maloghurst had to sacrifice himself to bring the War Master back

Still, they didn't give him nearly enough credit considering the Dark Angels were so well crafted as a legion they were with The Lion leading.

The Space Wolves still had a few thousand after assaulting the vengeful spirit they arrived at that battle with 40 thousand marines and retreated with around 17k.

The books are inconsistent with the numbers of legionaries in the legions and the descriptions of how they are affected by certain wars and battles. .

Khan is the GOAT. And as a Magnus fangirl his friendahip/brotherhood with big red is just beautiful and the conversation he had with the Shard of Magnus brought tears to my eyes. Small correction Fulgrim wasn't really trying to kill Dorn. I LOVE Sigismund but the idiot made Black Templars sooo... yyeeeaaahhh weaponized authism indeed. Hey now Magnus's situation is way more complicated than that and writers NEEDED him to fall so he has to be stupid in certain moments....unfortunately. He didn't fuck up too badly with the warp until Leman break his back.

I for one think Russ deserves more love. His character growth, his journey through the heresy are to me one of it's finest parts and he ACTUALLY CHANGES unlike any other primarch. He is able to see his flaws and move passed them and his regret over killing Magnus lets him become someone more than an executioner. But no, it's another case of "Read A Thousand Sons Once" which is a big problem in this community. As for Rune Priests. Two things. First off, what they are doing IS different from Thousand Sons. They have limitations on them and treat the Warp with caution unlike Thousand Sons which were overusing it and even cleaning their guns with it and letting people use it to run restaurants I believe. That is EXTREMELY dangerous use of the Warp. And there is something on Fenris which sort of filters the Warp that Rune Priests use. There is a spirit on that planet which can be tied to DAOT or could be something else.

Regardless he still remains a loose cannon spoiled by his uncle Malcador who allows him and his bone rattling priests to get away with a lot. And by the end he becomes a drunken violent recluse, until something calls him on a quest to the Warp. I would say I would say that many of the primarchs have transformative arcs. Sanguinius comes to terms with the conditions of his Legion, possibly replacing his father as an Emperor and the different prophecies that he could take.

hey you are really polishing your editing skills. very impressed with this one. this dude did russ and the lion dirty. the emperor himself esitated to kill horus when his carisma shone trough. the whole "chaos flees his body" is a way of the powers to use horus true strengt as in charming their adversary. russ was under the charm of horus when he esitated... because that is the power of horus. also... if russ would not had shanked him, horus would not have been the bloatlord we see at the siege, i bet you that.

Perturabo truly is the only s tier traitor. Although, as a leader of men, lorgar would place higher for me than f tier maybe even go up to C tier. He is a leader of men. He is a commander who, when he does something, is followed to literal self sacrificial ends by his sons and mortal followers.

I mostly concur with what would be a satisfying fate for erebus but in an ideal world I would want him to get mortally wounded by someone with either no ego or no significant reputation (Kharn or Dante would be a good candidate for the first option, most secondary characters would be fine for the second although I would particularly enjoy an alpha legionaire like Kassar). Once mortally wounded he is then tempted by distorted daemonic voices to form a bond with them for survival (which will surely go well for him being destiny's hand and such). He accepts and gets possessed by the daemon who now identifies itself as Raum who basically takes over the body and puts erebus in the passenger seat before just getting him to stand up and take a melta gun shot to the chest or something before taking his soul back into the warp with him in retribution for Argel Tal. That's the dream anyway. Warhammer doesn't tend to give characters the ends I would want but I can hope. Death by nids would also be acceptable as long as he doesn't get to make a big show out of it.

robute is better than most because he has two qualities no other primarch had, common sense and a mom (tarasha euten could beat the emperor in a battle of wits), he is also the most human primarch, not the most connected to hummanity but the most human.

3:27 being smart doesn't mean that you can't make mindblowingly dumb decisions

El'johnson simply to see how much the Dark Angels have degraded because of his own decisions and to see his own failures in his sons like a messed up mirror and also for the LONG awaited talk between him and Luther, if most of the Fallen and the Dark Angels actually form a truce/alliance/become one legion again, oh boy that's gonna shake up some shit.

I think the writers never really knew what to make of the lion's personality

They finally got it right in 40k. I still think that they should've ranked him higher just for how good the Dark Angels were under his command.

The fact that his character does a full 180 for no reason and then turns out he wasnt even posessed, he really just became the oposite of himself is so stupid. I liked his fall because instead of being a full on traitor he had a moment of weakness and let himself be possessed, wich was original compared to other Primarchs, like you can see how Perturabo could flip from a kind of cold, but good guy that protects civilians, to a survival of the fittest type that kills anyone weaker than him, but Fulgrim, besides his insecurity and arrogance had nothing bad in his philosophy, the only way he becomes a traitor is by giving up, wich is a flaw on its own dont get me wrong, but he doesnt just become evil, during the whole great crusade hes about as morally good as it gets for a primarch, but they gave all his character away to have the saturday cartoon villain that likes all the sex and drugs because isnt that funny

Magnus is a bad character in my eyes mostly because of the writers. He is a victim of the plot, writers use him to make their story beats and thus his personality and actions wildly fluctuate book to book. Making him seem either like an idiot or someone spineless who can't face the consequences of his own actions. In space wolves books he is mustache twirling evil or just silly. In his own books he needs to fall so the writers often force him to take blindingly stupid actions.

I LOVE the core of Magnus. Someone who is kind and compassionate and while arrogant WASN'T STUPID. I think he was at his best during MorningStar. Who KNOWS his power and understand its gravity Spiderman style. And people make it as if any TS fell to chaos before Burning of Prospero which NONE did. Flesh Change is a gene defect and until the end neither Magnus or TS were turned to chaos. Tzeench had a foot in the door nothing more. Magnus is my Fave alongside Khan and Sanguinius.

Speaking of your rant on how we know little about the Rangdan Xenocide. I have a theory that it was a cover story to destroy the 2nd or 11th legion and that is why there is so little. Because no one questions the genocide of some random xeno species in the halo stars. First off it took so much firepower to complete the crusade which is exactly what could be expected of a legion and primarch fighting to their last man in a hail mary. Second, it took place in the Halo Stars which is not only a remote place that no one would venture to so there is no evidence to be recovered but it is chock-full of stuff that could be considered traitorous like the device that turns you into a fleah eating immortal or a possible xeno species that one of the lost legions came into contact with and allied with. If the emperor put to a vote with the primarchs to decide if the word bearers should be annihilated for worshipping him as a god then no doubt he would do the same for a legion that is fraturnizing with a xeno species.

Night Lords do have the funniest moments. Like I think it’s in The Lost and the Damned where the NL are about to assault one of the outer walls and during the flight there a raptor was like, “Yo I’m so fucking hyped for this jump assault, I’m gonna be the first one on the wall but god damn my feet fucking hurt.” And of course he gets demolished as soon as he lands lmao. Sevatar is a fucking beast too and his model is sick. The fact that the Atramentar are so dedicated to him that if a NL commander was any kind of clout post-heresy that they’ll need their approval

Ironically that's not true abbadon has been planning the 13th black crusade from the first one and I'm not talking about cawl figuring out what all the crusades were about, GW was planning that for years and I mean years all the way back to I think 2007 a chaos book reveals what abbadon was planning all along and pointing out all the achievements like destroying the necron pylons which have been repelling the eye as well for literally years that is the major plot point of the second eisenhorn book

@@YOGI-kb9tg Yes the 13th crusade itself was, but back then it wasn’t called that. And Most of the implications given back then didn’t start reappearing until the retcons from my recollection. Of course there were MANY audible course corrections that had to have been made by GW, Failbadon lost to Cadia in game play. Which why Failbadon pulls a “flipping the monopoly board “ move with the black stone fortress.

Regarding Lorgar: He doesn't like fighting his brothers but he is incredibly powerful. He beat Khorne's strongest Daemon... WHILE INSIDE THE EYE. He started the Heresy to save humanity(to avoid the same fate as the Eldar) He in secret, while the Imperium was spying on him, managed to order the construction of 3 battleships whose only equal was *The Phalanx* Then before the siege, he creates a reason to have him and almost his entire legion be spared having to be part of it. He and Alpharius then seeming puts into motion their plan to have both Horus and the Emperor lose. He forced Khorne to save Angron by ascending him. "Let it never be said that Lorgar Aurlian wasn't a Loyal Brother" Also the sole reason Emperor cared about Monarchia was that Word Bearers were too slow in conquering new world as they waited until they were stable before continuing. Religion didn't really matter since the Emperor never previously tired to stop him, only that the Emperor denied it. I think you need to reread [First Heretic] and [Betrayer]^^'

All primarchs are flawed, all primarchs are great strategists in their own field and all primarch are great duelists...yeah the Lion is probably the 2nd best duelist, cause that's his thing, but still, it's nothing impressive that really stands out...i find the Lion to be extremely boring, annoying and overrated a bit too much ...

Lion El'Jonson is pretty shit at dealing with people probably didn't sense perturabo was lying or anything, and big factor perturabo isnt corrupted, hell I don't even think the iron warriors are even corrupted and only used demon engines of war. Tho i think blood angels probably can as well, no I think ultra marines possibly can

I think you heavily misinterpreted why people were upset about the cussing. It wasn't because "oh no bad word" it was because it didn't fit in the universe. There are like what? 40 years of in universe cuss words that they've been using and then suddenly someone randomly uses a real world cuss word that isn't ever used in all the rest of 40k? It was more of a "wait what?" Moment that made you pause for a second when reading cause it was so out of place. Now that being said. I love the "eat shit and die traitor" part XD

Im sorry guys but Angron is my absolute least favorite primarch. Hes tragic yes. But he just sucks so much ass personality wise. I just cant like him. On another note Ferrus was originally my favorite primarch XD, the opinion has shifted to others but i feel hes severely underrated because he never got the stories he needed. But hes physically the tallest primarch, hes arguably a better blacksmith than Vulkan (he focuses on function over form) hes a master with tech. And even horus said he knew war better than almost anyone saying if Ferrus had joined them they would have taken Terra quickly. But he gets shit on by the few stories he is given. He had a temper but so do most of the primarchs and the time it really got the best of him with Fulgrim, you have to remember that Fulgrim was the person he cared for and trusted most in the galaxy and he was betrayed by him. Man imagine you caught your wife in bed with some dude would you stay calm?

Ugh I’m so tired of folks saying Rogal beat Fulgrim, like I’m sorry it’d be cool if he did, but Fulgrim quite literally got bored of the fight and went off to go massacre civilians and make them into cocaine. In an actual fight to the death Fulgrim would turn Rogal inside out and back again.
