I found panic significantly impacts the aiming and I usually make sure I have tons of beta blockers before I start using guns

I panic when I use guns too. I prefer to drink whiskey before using them.

Doesn’t the wiki state that panic has no effect on aiming? It does severely reduce gun damage though, iirc it was a 60% gun damage reduction.

Excellent video! I'm subscribing for more oft his awesome content! However one slight correction regarding scopes and their ranges: Yes, the scopes INCREASES the minimun range requirement. So for example a shotgun's range is: 2-8 (min-max) any zombie within that range will be green outlined. Now if you add a 2x scope (adds 6-7 min-max), the modified shotgun range is now: 8-15. So a scope increases the long range effectiveness at the cost of decreasing the short range effectiveness (because this value was increased, not reduced). And if you think of it, this kinda makes sense. You wouldn't shoot something close at you with a 8x scope haha

Glad you liked the video. I wasn't trying to say the scope isn't increasing the minimum range (though it might not be) just that I was finding it not at all impactful. I do remember it being more of a problem, but maybe that character had lower aiming, or maybe it's been tweaked since then.

Great guide. To expand a bit on where to look for guns: Police stations, gun stores, army surplus stores, hunting supplies and shooting ranges are an obvious best bet but those locations are fixed so you probably already have your favourite like Doe Valley army surplus. Police officer zombies have a decent chance to carry shotguns on their back and are crearly visible if they do. Those guns are usually in serviceable condition and have about 50% chance to have some shells. They also can have magnum revolvers or 9mils at their hip. Police car trunks are almost always stacked with guns and ammo. Also they usually have a few police officers strolling around. Then - large residential homes have a pretty high chance to have guns stores in gun cases stashed in bedroom wardrobes or tool closets. Also some time ago, catering staff zombies from wedding events were notorious for having a lot of handguns or knives on them. But that was toned down apparently. Still there is a small chance a random zombie might have a gun or some Ammo,so checking the bodies is helpful.

It's been like b40 since I've played vanilla, so I've forgotten how much of this works or never interacted with it. I gotta say that the "Unjammy" mod simplifies jams. I've always been disappointed with the lack of rifle butt dome dashing. I mean that's what the pugil sticks teach you. Probably too much detail fwiw, but there's a close in world where all the bombs, guns and missiles are worthless. It'd be fun to see the vet character just go ape with fixed bayonet. Similarly, I'd love to see a decent boxing mod that could incorporate some footwork and speed. Ker-Jaaack! Either way, fun and interesting video, thanks!

Even though the panic moodle is a small reduction, I'd still advise taking Beta Blockers if you can, because when shooting large amounts of ammunition that small debuff will stack up to dozens of missed crits, especially at lower Aiming levels where the base crit bonus is really low. Also, if you ever got the chance, could you make a guide about guns vs Sprinters (or just share some tips)? I can use them fine with Shamblers, but I never managed to actually do any good with them against Sprinters... Thanks for your guides :)

I have no idea if this is a mod I use, but press X when your gun is jammed and you’ll auto rack it. If it is a gun mod it’s Firearms B41 but I haven’t tested it in vanilla

it is not a mod, it is just the game lol, u can set the key on for rack a gun in the options if it isnt already set for deaufl

when u empty a magazine by shooting, then u unload it and it goes in ur inventory, empty.

They are multi use. Two things to note though, even if you have the mags in a backpack, once you eject the magazine it will go into your main inventory, increasing your weight. Also, if the magazine was 'favorited' before you used it, last time I checked it will lose the status after you eject it.

@@KyleMiddleton7 thank you i know thise things, but the magazine weight is minimal of u have a strong caracter and havent the main inventory 17.99/18.00 hahah... about the favourite thing yeah, i find it annoying sometimes

@@lorenzo6239 I'm a bit of an idiot, so at times I've been carrying around > 24 9mm magazines. The weight does start to add up. =)

What I wanted to know is, when and where do you suggest using guns with a fairly newish player? Obviously someone on hour 10,000 of playtime can start a new game on highest settings, grab a shotgun from their spawn house and go to town if they really want to, but for those who actually have reason to fear hordes, when should you use them? Should you work to clear out a decent chunk of the surrounding area first so the initial swarm doesnt overwhelm you and you can pick off the roamers called in with more room to work with? CAN you just start blasting as soon as you have a few boxes of ammo opened in your inventory and just walk backwards shooting and reloading till everything is dead? (with the occasional spin to ensure the zombies arent behind you)

You're pretty much spot on, it's more a case of how far you take things and how quickly you will die if you misstep, and that's dependent largely on your zombie settings. For example, vs sprinters I'd almost always only clear INTO an area, trusting that not a single zombie is going to be coming up behind me. Vs regular shamblers I'd say what you've said is good, and it even works for non-gun combat. Knowing areas are clear is important, so that you can pull packs of zombies to that controlled zone to fight them. I guess the only thing I'd say is the spins aren't that occasional =) This is going to depend on whether you have keen hearing, and that sort of thing, but really you want to have your head on a swivel.
