Being raised in the church, there was nothing more powerful than after pursuing atheism for a year and completely abandoning my faith, when God encountered me, and I realized I am desperately in need of God's grace. That I deserve Hell. My life has never been the same. I can't imagine a single thing that at this point could shatter my faith. I'm not perfect, but knowing God.... Like you said. Prayer, ministry, worship, reading the Bible, it's no longer something that I need to do to be close to God. It's something I can't be without because I love God.

He makes a great point when saying "if you feed your doubt, your faith will suffer. If you feed your faith, your doubts will starve." Anyone willing to pursue God's Word with an open heart will ALWAYS find answers and freedom from doubts. Faith is a verb.

Hi Robin. I agree! Our salvation (if God has regenerated us according to His will) is sure. If we could lose salvation, God would have to unjustify (Romans 3:28), unadopt (Romans 8:15, 23), unredeem (Ephesians 1:7), unreconcile (2 Corinthians 5:18), unforgive (Colossians 1:14), unsanctify (1 Corinthians 1:2), unregenerate (Titus 3:5), unseal (2 Corinthians 1:20-22; Ephesians 1:13-14, 4:30), uncrucify (Romans 6:6), and take everlasting life away from us and put us back under judgment (John 5:24).

@@carolberubee, You nailed it! I've thought the "its a miracle" thought based on all those verses, but had not heard anyone say it so succinctly as was said in the podcast. I've been reeling from my recent visit with my mom, who is suffering from dementia, and my own difficulties in handing my emotions around that. This encouragement was much needed because my mom was lashing out because of how dementia is changing her mental faculties: she is quite angry about it. God bless you sister.

@@rebalspirit Oh, I'm sorry to hear about your Mom. Six years ago, I had to put my Mom into memory care. I remember how she would get angry with me in the months before that, even though she was still in her home and I was doing everything I could to help her to be able to stay in her home. I know she was afraid (she's not a Christian) and was not in her right mind. I would just quietly walk away and had to realize that it's not personal. She wasn't lashing out at me, really. I pray that God would give you strength in this troubling time.

Amen. Once you’ve been truly broken by the realization that your sins put Jesus on the cross and are sorry for that, then you are humbled before the Lord and ready to receive Him as Lord and Savior. What a journey it is!

That’s me! I grew up in the church and never had a full revelation of MY sin and that it is what Jesus died for. I always thought He died for everyone else and wasn’t I lucky that I wasn’t ‘lost’. Only the last few years thanks to Alistair Begg, yourself Alisa and a few others. Now I truly understand that ‘there is therefore now no condemnation for them that are in Christ’. Realising you’re an abject sinner is actually freeing if you know that you can fall upon the Rock of Christ. And you do.

That is one of my favourite things he ever said and changed my heart! I rememberber he described that if an employee was late and said they got hit by a truck but showed up pristine, they did not get hit by tons of metal. So ho can we then say the God of the universe lives in us and weet Him and we remain unchanged. So profound!

I agree with what he said in that statement, but he then requires that the deep change will result in a certain, unspecified result, in terms of what it will produce in good works and avoiding bad works. He acts like no one is saved until they measure up, as if there will be perfection in works, if our faith is real But the apostle John clearly said that if we say we have no sin, we lie, we make God a liar, and the truth is not in us. So that drastically changed nature will produce good works, but we won't achieve moral or spiritual perfection in this life, and the overcoming we do will differ from one person to another. What one overcomes right away, remains a lifelong struggle for another. God living within us will make a profound difference, but we can't judge that by requiring conformity to our own type of person as the standard.

I would disagree with that statement. Let me explain myself as here a man here. Because i tend to get kicked out of the ol Christian body quite so a lot; in for all the what questioning i have here done. Am here a Walter Martin type of Christian and so know that i am a Christian. But i were as called on by God to oh write books for his God kingdom. And i were as not changed at all. I as lived basically my same life. It were 15 years as before i changed at all.

I used to be Catholic and then I was among Christians who saw the Puritans as having a doom and gloom religion. Now I see them as believing in our sinful nature and true repentance; they truly believed in what Paul wrote in Romans 7:24-25: "Wretched man that I am..."

THANK you so much for pointing out that salvation is a supernatural work of grace that cannot be undone! It is not like.joining a club!

It's not undone by God, its undone by the person who does not die daily, obey commandments, keep their lamps full etc. When Jesus comes for us, if we are not full of the same Spirit that raised Him from the dead, we are going to be left behind. It is a lie from the devil to believe that we can get saved and stay saved, and live any old way.

When I saw Rhett and Link’s pod cast about the deconstruction of their faith I thought of Peter denying Christ, but remember Christ predicts Peters denial but also reassures when he returns to strengthen his brothers! Christ prayed that Peter would not lose his faith “after” he denied Christ! But isn’t it so appropriate that Good Mystical Morning starts with a Roosters Crow?

Denying a particular interpretation of scriptures is NOT the same thing as "denying Christ".

I also was a teenager in the late nineties, and went to a Christian school during part of that time. Nobody around me really knew what faith was, because we were young, and to me it seemed like a system of works where people were play-acting in a way that seemed disingenuous because as young people nobody really experienced life yet, and everyone seemed to know “about God” like metadata, but nobody really knew Him. Fast forward to a couple of years back, I’m in my mid-thirties, and a series of events really brought me to know Him, through healing my deep scars and living my authentic self.

The John the Baptist reference blew my mind! I’ve never thought about that!

So he left Judea and went back once more to Galilee. What if.... when Jesus heard the rumor he was baptizing people in water he had to go back to Galilee to tell his disciples the quit water baptizing ? Another big question is.... Matthew 28:19 why didn't Jesus preach what John the Baptist preached that he would baptized in the Holy Spirit. Or maybe Matthew 28 :19 was Jesus telling the apostles about him baptizing in the Holy Spirit. The sad fact today is we have come to know water baptism doesn't save. but few preach the baptism the Holy Spirit does save. If water baptism today was understood it was only for John the baptists . This would help all the controversy over water baptism infant baptism, Sprinkling, immersion ( These arguments have actually split church denominations) I have a lot more evidence to prove water baptism was only for John the Baptist to identified Jesus as the Son of God. read john 1:31 - 34 ask yourself what does the DOVE represent. @@artistart55 Jesus once baptised a whole wedding party with water and we still struggle with the concept. If one understands Jesus the way I do, one would not dream of him defiling the holy water of ritual cleansing by turning it into wine. Instead, in serving people with that holy water, the cleanest of waters that was allowed to be put in those vessels and blessed, drinking that water and being told about the honesty of the groom for not cutting the wine to pretend wealth but to serve the most valuable wine last, the holy spirit would have come to you to understand the discrepancy between your expectations and that message. It clearly fails a lot of us. One must be a materialists to think Jesus would have a fine wine declared to be more valuable than the water that was meant to make you clean to become presentable to come to the Lords place. Explain to me how any alcohol would make you to repent and thus make you presentable to the Lord.

@@fourteatwo I believe you understand why Jesus turned water into wine. he used the 6 ceremonial washing jugs, I believe the reason Jesus turned water into wine was to contaminate the old Jewish custom ceremonial washing. This really was an excellent discussion. I became a Christian age 30 after many years of searching spiritually. Went to bible school The Vineyard. Prayed in tongues and spent my life in church. Married 3 Christians, yes I know, God hates divorce but I hate adult and violence. I lost my faith when I suffered with COTSD for 15 years....but after tons of therapy and going modalities prayers and fasting... my faith is strong, purely because I changed, God did not. Thank you for this discussion. Spot on. I am now 70. God cares when no one else does.

This came up in my Bible study this week: questioning is not necessarily unbelief. I don’t know anyone who has never dealt with periods of doubt and/or questioning. Mostly, my experience has been along the lines of Really? How?? Okay, I will choose to believe because You said it. Wow! You are awesome! I haven’t gotten the answers to all my questions, but I have finally reached the place where I recognize the pattern and can sit with my questions while I wait, BECAUSE I have been through the whole cycle so many times!

I agreed when they mentioned that when you know God, you're born again, you can't reject Him. I knew Him intimately even since I was little, and I struggle through insanities my whole life. When I had once rashly made an ultimatum to God in a fit of pique and despair, rather then let me go through my foolishness and insanity, He calmed and humbled my mind and heart and supernaturally spoke to me "peace", so that I would stay rather than disown Him. He held onto me, so I held back on.

Thanks for this. I had the same sense of loss and tragedy when I listened to Rhett and Link's deconstruction. I read their novel (which was being released at about this time, and probably was related to the reason they had to get the deconstruction on record, because it's obvious from their novel). It actually hurt to listen to them. After that, I stopped following anything they did to, as you say, not "feed" that. I still have hope that they were truly redeemed, and will return to grace. I give thanks to God that when I went through some of the same questions (doesn't everybody?) that I wasn't also rich and famous in Hollywood.

Thank you for talking through the important subjects. As Christians it’s important not to bury our heads in the sand, but have these conversations 👍🙏

But you don't. The more you use scriptures to prove scriptures to more you'll fall on (understandably) deaf ears.

"people being willing to walk with you through your mess..." is the difference between really caring for someone, and just wanted to try and "fix" them so you don't have to relate to them, "in their mess"...i wish more well-meaning people understood this...it's akin to talking too much when someone has just experienced a huge loss- it isn't "helpful"...

In my experience, when you have an encountered with the Living God, Christ Lord and Saviour, there is no way back....i didn’t grow up in a Christian home, and after receiving Christ in my heart and receiving His Spirit, the witnessing of His presence is too real to dismiss at the first sight of unbelief or doubt...i always go back to the time of my first encounter with Jesus....Deuteronomy 4:9

A few years back I took a small pilot course at my church called the Whiteness Intensive. It send me on a long and stressful journey of trying to figure things out amd search for truth. When they mentioned deconstructing your faith i was immediately uncomfortable to the point of tears. I felt like why would i need to deconstruct my relationship with Christ who I've walked with most of my life. There was a point in all my searching where i literally cried out to God to not let me fall away...and He didnt. Back then i didnt even know there was a name for all of this, which i now know is progressive Christianity thanks to your podcast. I am loving listening to it and have decided to watch one per week with my teenagers. Thank you Alisa!❤

For every talk of doubt, a believer should listen to 3 testimonies of the power of God in the average person's life. Flood the airwaves with testimonies!

I think that that is one of the biggest missteps of Christians who have a platform today. Nobody is doing testimonies anymore. They’ve all written books now. Everybody’s an author.

@@marriage4life893 Oh I agree with reading books. That’s how I ended up getting saved. I read a book and it made me question whether I was going to heaven or not. I think the testimonies are mainly for the saved people. It’s a great remembrance of peoples beginnings. Leaving different info that we need to know on our journey. Then also learning about things that happen to people. Then if it happens to you, you have biblical information in your arsenal to fight that attack. Things like that.

@@marriage4life893 Well let me just say it was not just the book. It was a wonderful evangelizing woman for God also. Doing her work which I have continue doing just like her! I was in Sam’s Club buying a cookbook when this wonderful lady approached me about how good the recipes looked. She picked up the book Heaven is for real off at the Sam’s Club table. Told me how wonderful it was. She told me a few things that took place in the book that were just so lovely. I bought the book came home and read it very fast. Ask myself if I thought I was going to heaven? Well I definitely made a distinction between myself and the people in the book. How we lived our lives differently. What I realized was they had a real relationship with God and I did not. Based on that information I decided that no I probably wasn’t going to heaven.

This is so sad. Doubts don't have to be scary. God's faithfulness is stronger than our doubts. No question is too scary for God to hear. You don't need to be afraid of your doubts or "starve" them. It is possible to trust the love of God whilst having intellectual doubts.

I needed this. For many reasons. Partly because I too watched their videos of deconstruction and partly because I have many questions I too am going through. Thanks both of you. God bless 🙏🏻

Alisa, when you mentioned not having a choice when your intellectual mind was persuaded one way, but you couldn't declare unbelief. That is exactly what I experienced back in July 2021. I was standing on that ledge and there was a moment where it was like God grabbed my shoulders and just pulled me back to Him. In the last 6+ months, my faith has been radically changed for the better. I am studying the Word like never before, learning more about Him and I feel so rooted for the first time in my life. But that was 100% God drawing me back to Him because where I was at...if it had depended on me and my choices, I wouldn't be here, and I give Him ALL the glory for that.

I watched R&L as a kid and had no idea they were even in the faith

Doubt is to faith as fear is to heroism. The hero has fear but acts against it. Many struggle with fearful seasons but keep on and search for answers from others and with discernment from God and you will win through. It is important to talk about doubt, not hide it and especially not condemn those struggling with it. God bless you all.

I am so grateful to my mother and grandmother taking me to church. I was so hungry for God’s word as a child. I read the Bible daily. When I accepted Christ as my savior I’ve never had doubt that he is God. I never have doubt he loves me. God loves me so much he gave Jesus to save me from my sins that me nor any human is or has been without except “Jesus “. All my life I’ve had lots of trauma, abuse, struggle and depression just to name a few but I still stand and have complete faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. No matter how bad things have gotten when I couldn’t even speak I could on just think Jesus I know you love me. Thank you God for your mercy and grace. I will never have doubt so strong it would take me away from Christ. If I do have any I pray for more faith. Faith is the key!! But I know I believe and I receive the love of my savior despite the fact that my best is as if filthy rags to our Holy God. He still loves me. He is real, the same yesterday, today and tomorrow I will praise his name.

Great discussion. When I'm writing for my discernment blog doubts start to come, especially when I am listening to false teachers or learning about cults. Also just being around unbelievers in th world. I need to pray that the Lord guards my heart.

Christian in Britain here. I can fully connect with what gets said in this video. I'm a deep thinker but I've experienced too much of God in a personal and spiritual way, revelations of him, too be able to say "He doesn't exist". If he didn't who did I meet on those occasions. As such I don't see intellectual thought can disprove God. It can only cloud issues and obstruct your focus on him. What people need is to ask God's holy spirit to break into their thinking.

The sad thing to me it seems like people who grow up in the church end up leaving and that’s a huge red flag for today’s church. I converted from Islam so I had to deal with my own things (like mistakenly transferring some of the things I learned there) but I can’t imagine leaving Christianity to go back to a false idolized god

There is a lot of opportunity for Narcissistic abuse and particular interpretations of the scriptures can encourage this. Many raised in a fundamental sect come out of it with CPTSD. It's pretty epidemic.

Alisa, thank you for having Shelby on! I went to JMU in Virginia and attended Big Break and I listened to him speak several times. He's got an incredible story. You've got an incredible podcast! I need to listen more.

I am so thankful that God has led me to you, Alisa Childers, and also to this youtube, Mr. Abbott. I bought "Another Gospel" and I have had a hard time reading it because two out of our four boys are deconstructed; one is progressive with his wife (they have our grandkids) and the other just plain out says he doesn't have faith. I see them so clearly in your book, Alisa, and that makes it tough but very necessary to read. I am so thankful for this youtube and thank you, Mr. Abbott, because I, too, went through heavy doubt for about five years. I was born again in 1984 (28 years old) and I'm a pastor's wife to boot :-). All the doubts that were discussed were a part of my every being and thought every day. I kept these doubts under the surface for a couple of years but finally had to admit them to myself and I begged God to bring me out of the pit that I was in. I didn't know what to do but I knew instinctively (obviously from God's protection) that it wouldn't be beneficial to feed the doubt with progressive ideas so God led me to feed my faith with His Word. I didn't look up answers to my questions but just gave at least the first two hours of my day to scripture reading and Bible study (and all this time teaching a women's Bible study). I would love to say that my faith flourished immediately and the doubts went away quickly but that's not the story. As you stated Alisa, I would get to the edge of the cliff and think, "Can I just deny God and His Christ right now?"; there was no way I was able to do that because I am a miracle of rebirth in Jesus. It took a long time to get to where God has me today and still every once in a while the doubts creep in and I panic and then pray and go to God's Word. Lord willing, I will be able to share these doubts with our two sons and daughter-in-law so that God will bring them to Himself. I'm thankful to say that our other two sons are walking closely with the Lord their Savior. May the Lord work mightily through your ministries to save the confused, the deconstructed and the lost. Oh, btw, our one son (who loves the Lord) introduced me to Rhett and Link quite a long time ago; we used to watch them together. I shared this video with him yet he hasn't watched them in a while.

If someone seeks to destroy my trust in my faith, that says more about them than me. And I dismiss them, right there and then. Always - ALWAYS - be open and honest with God about EVERYTHING, because He knows it all anyway. And He loves you. Still. He doesn't excuse your sin, but He knows of it and wants you to know it and come to Him with it.

It's so true, I truly cannot choose to stop believing in God. Praise God, I cannot undo what He has done! I could be angry or hurt or scared and even forget important things, but He has penitrated my heart and there is simply no turning back! I don't know R & L, but I certainly pray the Lord softens their hearts and shows them what salvation really looks like ❤

Rhett wasn’t looking for honest answers he would accept if he liked it or not. He was looking for a way out and he found it. It makes the most business sense to him. He knew about God but not at the heart level. And Links faith was just so weak he tags along.

A KZreadr by the name of Obese to Beast recently made a video about no longer identifying with Christianity due to how certain ones behave and that he has doubts. I was so saddened that he would not want to claim that name. That is never good. I prayed but my heart is secure because we know we will see those that weren't firmly planted. And it truly makes me understand biblical figures and the prophets and disciples when they wept over sinners and those that fell away that were once with them. But we know he is making it known to us so that we know they are not of us. Plus, we then know not to listen to them but also to pray for them. It's a tough thing to witness

Wow yes I love how he described when you are truly born again- it is a miracle of replacing a heart of stone! Love his ‘simple’ description! I want to get his book thank you!

Thank you both for a great interview. You make many great points. In particular, I have also recognized that many of these stories, and many Christians as well, have a view of Christianity that doesn't include "repent and believe". In a world where we all struggle with self-worth, it seems hard for us to own the idea that we have sinned and made mistakes and therefore need forgiveness.

I am so grateful for this podcast! It was only yesterday, at our Church’s Sunday school while watching “ What’s in the Bible with Buck Denver,” the awesome series created for children that I totally love , I said to myself, “ I wonder who were the men that portrayed the Bentley Brothers?” These guys are hilarious, and the kids love them! Now, this morning, I know without a shadow of a doubt, my Lord led me to this podcast! I’m shocked and saddened! Lord Jesus, please teach us how to teach our children discernment, and to fix their eyes upon Jesus, and him only. Thank you both for your courage under fire! May Jesus continue to bless and use your platforms to educate, inform and influence the masses for the God’s kingdom agendas.

I have resigned myself to the fact that I may never be completely without doubt. It seems to be baked in to my personalty to question. That said, I love the advice to feed your faith and starve your doubt. Yes! That is a great way to explain what I have experienced myself. Thank you for doing these. I’m 58 and been born again since 1986. I feel like I’ve been stolen from to be honest. I believe but I’ve allowed other “winds of doctrine” to creep in over the past few years. These videos have been so helpful. Thank you so much! Randy

God bless you guys for being real about a struggle that I know all too well. This was encouraging and I believe will help a lot of people who truly do love the Lord and want to believe in spite of doubts. Thank you for taking the time to do this; well done. Especially citing the examples in scripture of experiencing doubt. Paul Washer gives an excellent comparison between decisionalism and experiencing an encounter (regeneration) with Jesus Christ.

When I came to look over the edge..."have I been believing in a lie?" I later described being unable to stop believing in God as being similar to deciding to have a different color of eyes. My belief is part of my cells, my DNA.

Thank you. I have been tormented about my son leaving God. I KNOW he loved Jesus. He had such joy in his faith. Now he is depressed. He is so relativistic now and just floats from one idea to another. He left his wife and baby daughter. My heart is broken and I'm afraid for him. At least now I have an idea of what has happened.

Dear Alisa and Shelby, It makes me think of Matthew 9:20-22. Our Savior feels it, when we touch Him with faith. All those people touched Jesus in passing and following Him, they all touched Him, but without any expectation of it. But this woman touched Jesus with the expectation, that when she did so, she would be healed by Him. And she dared touching Him while bleeding, because that was against the Law, because she was not clean. The same miracle of God is happening, when we really confess we are sinners, because we are convinced by the Word and through the Holy Spirit, that we are sinners and that we cannot do anything through our selves, that we need the blood of Jesus to cleanse us, that miracle that He is doing in you to be born again, that is a miracle of grace! I thank God for all He has done and tell it to everybody, that want to listen. Maranatha !!!

You made a good point about him saying not to send books. That tells me all I need to know. He was WILLING to look into unbelief, but not literature that may allow him to keep it. Hmmm

I'm thankful for the conversation as one who wrestles with various doubts from time to time. My only concern initially is what is meant by "doubt is biblical?" That is, when we use the term 'biblical' we could mean it as there are instances where doubt occurs in the bible or it is biblical in the sense that it is a truism doctrinally. It would seem the former as opposed to the later, but I think this needs emphasis that we don't assume that doubt is good and pleasing to the Lord. In light of this reasoning I think there is precedent for repentance as doubt at its core is a sign of unbelief. In as much as Jesus shows grace to to John the Baptist he does it to cure his doubt and moreover we have many instances of Christ rebuking doubt; something to the tune of "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” or "How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken" or "stop doubting and believe." Doubt unfortunately is a reality of living in this world, a noetic effect of sin. Our doubt demonstrates our need for grace and sanctification. In as much as we affirm the reality of doubt it also needs to be rebuked and repented of that we might look more like Christ who never doubted. May God have mercy.

Cru is a Christian non-profit organization that focuses on evangelism, discipleship, and prayer. It is a big Christian organization among college campuses, they also do missionary work and have many different kinds of ministries nationwide and world wide. I'm part of it and I have been involved throughout college and has been very impactful in my walk with the Lord.

CRU was originally known as Campus Crusade for Christ and founded by Bill Bright in the 1950's. The focus of the ministry has always been on colleges and college students.

With more than 16 million subscribers, Rhett and Link are hardly obscure, but so you know, they are KZreadrs who have been best friends since childhood. They were one of the first people on KZread, and they have a couple channels, but their biggest is Good Mythical Morning, a daily show where they do a bunch of weird/fun stuff like games/challenges and taste tests and stuff. If you want to check out the deconstruction story talked about in this video, it's on their podcast channel Ear Biscuits.

You can feel your faith crumbling, dissolving, falling apart. But the Holy Spirit living within, cannot fall apart. Neither can the new nature that is born of God. No man can take us out of His hand, and that new nature would never, never want to be out of His hand.

Great point about "choice" and your not being able to disbelieve Alisa. Being born-again is miraculous and all God's work (by grace) and not of our doing. Shelby is absolutely right about that FACT.

If you believe by the power of Reason, then you will disbelieve by the power of Reason, but if you believe by the power of God, then no reason will cause you to disbelieve, your belief cannot be shifted, because to disbelieve, you have to remove the Christ from the core of your heart to do so, and not even the devil can do that. Thus the scripture, you believe because you have seen, but blessed are those who believe who have not seen.

Honest question. Some people say that a person who has experienced the love of God and chosen to walk away, like dishonouring Christ and whatnot, are truly lost. But with the possibility of having experienced the presence of God growing up, accepting the message but actually not confronting your own fallen nature, turning around and being born again into the grace of God. Keeping to God without actually being born again. Could a person deconstructing their faith and leaving it, on those grounds, not actually find the true way to God and be born again?

Hebrews 6 addresses this. The one who experiences the things of God but who is not born again cannot be brought to repentance once he forsakes Christ. For example, a woman who was raised in Christianity and professed Christ decides that she no longer believes. She walks away and embraces a hodgepodge of beliefs, including Hinduism. She says she never really believed in the first place even though she seemed like she did. Now, there is no way of repentance for her. It's not that God couldn't save her, but that she has already exhausted the many blessings of Christianity and found them to be "not enough." The fault is hers, not His. Now, her conscience is seared. Not knowing your exact situation, it's impossible to say whether you could be brought to repentance. But if God grants you repentance, you'll know it! Don't forsake it!

I think it’s important to remember that people don’t find their own way to Christ. The Holy Spirit reveals the truth to them and they make the decision to believe or reject Him. Honestly, these are highly nuanced and individual situations that really depend on the person’s heart. Only God and them knows how far gone they are. It’s why we can’t ever be 100% sure of someone else’s salvation even though we can have a decent assurance of it through the fruit they produce. Have they hardened their heart against the Lord? Or... Are they deceived yet concerned about their salvation? Do they not care for honoring Christ as their Savior? Or... Do they still desire to know and grow in Him? Not everyone who deconstructs stops believing they’re a Christian. Many “progressive Christians” think they are right with God, and yet they have deceived themselves bc they deny core doctrines of salvation. That said, there are lots of people skirting the narrow road that never get on it. See how dicey it gets? That’s something no man but the person themselves can determine. In fact, the Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 13:5 to examine ourselves to see if we are in the faith and pass the test. The person truly lost, has no care for their standing with God. Either they foolishly claim they have no sin and are “good”, or they follow another gospel (are deceived) that never has them examine the state of salvation. 1 John 3:4-10 states this. Hebrews 6 is pretty clear about apostasy, but to what degree an individual experienced the truth of the gospel is not always knowable. If this is about yourself, the only thing to do is to repent and believe bc you are obviously not far gone enough to forsake Christ. If this is about another person, all you can do for them is share the gospel with them and pray that they repent and believe.

Feed your doubt because it is honestly searching, seeking, and ready to learn - at least see what it has to offer - certainty is already full of itself and doesn’t care to hear anything but itself repeating to you that no one else is right.

I heard their podcasts and I thought the exact thing, they seemed to have built their faith on the wrong things, not an their encounter and or relationship with God. I grew up in church and it wasn’t until I had a real, true encounter with God and with some deliverance from sin in my life that my faith become real to me.

I have been a fan of Rhett and Link for years. I just watched Rhetts deconstruction video and I must admit that I am completely thrown. 😩

True salvation and being born again are things I never understood until the Holy Spirit entered my heart and changed me forever. It happened so suddenly that it hit me like a truck and I was completely overwhelmed by the shear love and joy that comes from repentance. I was changed forever and my ability to deny what I experienced was dissolved in an instant, I just don't understand how someone could turn away from Jesus when you know he is real, I would doubt that person truly was born again.

Listen to this podcast has been great. I had been asked a question regarding the subject of ‘doubt’. . Could it be a path to coming to faith? and other ? ? you hit on a truth . . Regarding how your faith is Real. . has depth grounded in the Truth that Jesus is our Saviour. Our relationship with Him produces good works not the reverse. We grow continually in His Character. His love grows deeper in us and the Holy Spirit guides us deeper, always deeper in Truth.

My life certainly hasn't been all roses & sunshine. I've lost love one, had financial difficulties, been faced with difficult and life difficulties decisions, and wrestled with God over things. But I've never doubted the truth of the Bible or who God is or that Jesus is the only way to God. Is that an uncommon?
