God bless you S. Ferguson. These reflections are strength and food for prayer to seek God for his guidance, for I see our weakness in them, but they draw us to him for strength. May we always know and realise our frailty which will lead us to run to our father.

Since Satan deceived Eve the word says that Adam was with her and I've been listening to Ferguson speak of Genesis so my question is if Adam was with her was he with her at that very moment that Satan deceived Eve and if so why didn't Adam intervene and stop her or does it mean he was with her as in she had the fruit and went and found him or had she already ate of the fruit and then Adam showed up? I'm thinking that if Adam was with her at that very moment Satan deceived her then wouldn't Adam have stopped her ? So that's my question what does it mean when it says that Adam was with her and it's around the time that we see where Satan deceived Eve so what would be the answer or I should say what is the answer to my question?

The other side of The Lie is that God is a Santa Claus/bellhop who will give us anything our fleshly minds want if we only believe strongly enough. This side of it paints him as a sour skinflint who only gives gifts grudgingly, and scorpions when we ask for eggs. Like C.S. Lewis said, God finds many of our desires too weak - we want the mud pies in the slum rather than the holiday at the seashore.
