Unless and until you can get televised sporting clays competitions, with the type of cameras and expertise used in golf, there won't be big purses in clays. With shot tracking technology, super slow motion etc it is possible. But you can't have people pitching a fit, throwing shells and using profane language when they miss. There needs to be a code of conduct, a dress code, and some standardization in the flow of a tournament.

I heard the talk of the shoot-offs and stuff. My home club in Ione California has a special shoot-off 5-stand that has spectator seating, neon green targets that are easy to see and splash with color good when broken, and very tough targets with varying range and speeds (it’s on the side of the hill so the target setter gets really creative with terrain). Some of the shoots the club holds that use more than one of its 3 courses have a special Top Gun award where the top score of each course face off at the shoot-off 5 stand and the seats are always packed every time it’s quality entertainment

Back in the late 90s. Remington decided to put their advertising dollars into Nascar. Their logic was sound, it's all about exposure to potential customers.Others followed and shooting sports have never recovered.
