My half brother was a doorman in Blackpool in the 80s. I was from near Liverpool but had loads of family in Blackpool as my dad was from there. I was a kid, and a fair bit younger than my half brother in late 80s but got 1 or 2 stories off him.

I remember enjoying the N40 book, although it was a few years ago. It seemed well-balanced. It's a shame that none of the older lads from Blackpool have written a book. Being from the area, I'm well aware of the Rammy lads from the '70s, Benny's mob, and then the Bisons. They were a scary and game bunch of lads. The resort could have up to half a dozen firms there at any time, and the locals were always involved. The network of bouncers probably informed the locals about who was where, so it kicked off all the time. I thought it was like that everywhere until I started going out in other cities, which seemed mostly trouble-free in comparison. Back then, Blackpool was like the Wild West.

Didn’t really follow what was happening in the 90s. Blackpool was hit hard by acid house and then the rave scene. I think once a lot of the lads had an ‘e’ the violence didn’t seem that appealing, although it didn’t die out overnight.

I wasn't at this little tumble but i can remember many similar days out with all these lads, some good friends of mine still. Around '84/'85 we took two of Walters infamous coaches to Nottingham. The plan was to go to Rock City but it kicked off with a pub full of Forest lads before we got there. All got very messy, with several of our boys getting stabbed & slashed. We got escorted out of Nottingham , then stopped at Derby, where it went off again with 20/30 very game lads , fair play to Derby. Old bill escorted us out of Derby .Mission aborted !
