I always point to that insane goal against Espanyol, he didn't score, he didn't make the assist, yet he ripped through the entire defense like an alien and directly caused the goal. Stuff like that doesn't show up on the stat sheet.

Besides the goals, the dribbling, the way he rides the tackles and keeps his feet... its the passing that blows me away most of all. Every ball is perfectly weighted and right to the feet of his team mate - sometimes its such an impossible through ball his own teammates dont seem to expect it.

@@herancafutebol whenever he scores 91 goals in one year was probably him at his prime. He was still young enough to be able to dribble past 4 with ease and was developed enough to be a lethal goal scorer.

If he gets the ball, it's going to be either a free kick, a goal or something extraordinary.

This was so frustrating for a manutd fan like me back then. Manutd went to 3 UCL finals in 4 years only to meet the best team in football history in 2 of them. And the way messi celebrated his goal. He never celebrated like that. Shows how much he really wanted to win that final. I wished SAF has asked manutd to park the bus like chelsea. That was the only way to beat them back then.

I would say different player they are, but i don't think halland and mbappe should be compare with prime messi based on how he played Pure team work was back then golden. And CR 7 is completely different player than messi,he has the tendency to score the goals much better when near the box,real marid during that time had peak di maria and ozil,what u need anymore if u got a brilliant playmakers as a wing and ronaldo as beak was absolutely amazing. Its not only about watching and judging try to play as position of halland or mbappe,u will find it hard to score even if u have spaces until it becomes ur habit. Playing simple football is lotta hard than judging it.
