In this context the use of "Should have" refers to the severity of the incident, being so severe by all odds he 'Should' have died, how ever he defied those odds be it by luck or training/ saftey engineering. so yes should have is the correct term and correctly relays the severity of the crash

As someone who doesn’t speak English regularly, I understood the title perfectly and it baffles me how people who actively speak this language can’t understand that « should have » means he survives against all odds instead of a simple opinion the creator has. Learn to speak English before leashing out all your hate on someone with a great storytelling and a well built video.

I agree with your comment. It is also interesting, because the word >should< is obviously not used to imply that it would have been justified. It is like you say, that the term to a foreign speaker is similiar to the meaning of the word "mustn't". However even with a different definition the phrase could be read as a comment on how all the factors of the situation seemingly conspired against the driver, therefore making it a causality. In this way it is a different context, where in the importance of the person is not as high because of the purely chaotic nature of the crash. However the writer of the phrase might use it, because he sees himself as different from the driver, or better, or as purely a customer who has no interest in personal issues of the drivers or the theoretical possibilty of a human being hurt in the process of racing. The interesting thing here is, that not only this is a personality trait, it is also objectivly correct to see it this way, bevcause almost no one watching the race has a real insight into the human component of it. So even though almost no one might agree with it, it would be politicaly correct and just a madder of opinion, because the driver needs to protect himself and not act thoughtless.

All the safety gear Fernando was wearing , that which was built into the car and that absorbing material in and on the track, helped to save Fernando's life. But the key thing here was the car was moving throughout the entire accident. Each motion expended terrible forces that could have been transmitted to Fernandos body and brain. I saw it happen, as did millions of other fans did, live on tv and was astonished he was okay. Robert Kubica's amazing crash at Canada stands out as one of the worst crashes with no real injuries in Formula One. In that case, there was a massive impact but the car never stopped, saving Robert's life. At the end of that accident, his feet were dangling out of the front of the car, incredibly...undamaged. And, of course, Romain Grosjean's car, stabbing it's way through a guardrail at over 140 miles per hour, while Romain still kept his head on his shoulders, thanks to the Halo device, ranks as one of the most horrific survived accidents in racing history. After many agonizing seconds, Romain's ghostly shadow, walking quickly through the flames, is a very welcome vision, I will never forget. All thanks to those who died before and those who determined that no more would die like they did. Thank you to all the people who saved these drivers lives and continue to do so today.

The more I learn about Alonso, the higher he goes on my list of favorite drivers!!! Alonso is I believe the most conscious awareness of racing, racing tactics, his ability to recover his coffin and regain control from where others thought it impossible to recover. NOT SURE THE. ORRECT TERM BUT I WILL CALL IT TRACK AWARENESS. He is playing CHESS where others playing tic tac toe. He can extract the most out of any car on any track. I believe that he should be I. The category of GOAT even though he is not I. The top 5 today. Being able to drive and perform in F1. For as long as he has without significant deterioration of reflexes. I hope Alonso, Is able to race for as long as he is competitive enough. Then he would make probably THE. BEST ENGINEER F1 has seen.( already able to change n control outcome of race by slowing g down, or towing other people.). He is able to see the big picture almost all the time. In truth the more I learn about individual drivers the more I like them. Like Norris, tsunodA, and thr. A or one HAMILTON. In the past Hamilton was my least favorite driver. I saw and still see him taking people out of race(front tire bump) and making it seem an accident or circumstance of turn.( Verstappen wallcrash at 51g.) saying he turned into him, Not even asking how he was for about a minute. Just didn’t like him at all. However since he has fallen and more I learn about him as a person the more I am cheering for him. Even being anointed a knight. He is Sir Lewis Hamilton. He has a life outside F1 that does not deal with racing?plays guitar and many other hobbies.

When canadian hit with his BAR-Honda in to Schumachers BMW Williams, there was higher speed and Villeneuves car lifted up to air immediately. It went totally in peaces when it ended up in to wall, minus the cockpit, and one of the track marsahlas got killed by the tire of Villeneuves car.

I don't think there was any way Alonso could have passed the other car cleanly with that right turn coming up so quickly. If Alonso was able to get past the other car, I think he would have been carrying too much speed and caught his left tires in the gravel and gone into the barricade regardless. Also, I hated the look of those tiny, high rear wings on the cars from that short era.

Yep, Alonso almost definitely should have died. However, his car and the way it was constructed, definitely saved his life, that and quite a bit of luck on his part. The fact that Alonso was able to get out of what was left of the car and physically walk unaided to the medical transport is a small miracle in and of itself.

09:03 this is just simply wrong and sensationalism. In the broadcast, the broadcast cut to Gutierrez' car after the crash happend. Only the Haas car was shown. When they shortly after cut to the helicopter camera, you just now could see that the McLaren was involved. Alonso was then already visibly getting out of the crashed car.

what about his crash in testing at barcelona that left him unconcious for a decent while and hospitalized? McLaren still hasn't told the truth but it is likely that he was ELECTROCUTED while driving. I feel like that was even more dangerous, as during a crash you need to be ready for impact and get your hands off the wheel. If you are unconcious, you can't do any of this...

People get in severe car accidents all the time and say “I should have died”. How do so many of you have such a poor grasp of the English language? It’s not a “wish death on Fernando” statement, for the love of god. It’s a “that accident was beyond bad enough to cause death, and therefore Fernando cheated death, and according to logic “should” have not survived the damage of that crash. How is this so difficult to understand?

for the love of god , you don't say "should have" to someone who have near-death accident, If the word came from Alonso himself then it's make sense. "could have" pretty much have the same meaning in this context and it is a better choice of word.

In this context the use of "Should have" refers to the severity of the incident, being so severe by all odds he 'Should' have died, how ever he defied those odds be it by luck or training/ saftey engineering. so yes should have is the correct term and correctly relays the severity of the crash
