Fernando Alonso will never be matched

Спорт

Fernando Alonso is 41 years of age and is still at the top of his game in Formula 1. With 2 world championships, it still doesn't paint a picture of how good he is. Fernando came from humble beginnings but quickly impressed the world during his karting and junior career, and quickly found himself in Formula 1. He won two consecutive championships with Renault and became the youngest double world champion ever. He has battled with the very best, like Michael Schumacher, Kimi Raikkonen, Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton. Fernando always found a way, and even though he didn't win a world championship with Ferrari, you still always felt like he was a chance. Enjoy.

Alonso was great at burning bridges, playing games with his own team, and got kicked out from almost every team he drove for. .. Jenson Button also had some interesting things to say about this guy; Fernando faked retirements(!) while they were teammates at McLaren. He(Alonso) said that there's a problem with the car when he was behind Button. Team was saying back that keep driving/fighting Fernando, but he then just gave up. No other world champion ever disgraced himself like Alonso did. .. Other than that, he's a talented driver.

Honestly I disagree, I’ve never found that Alonso’s speed is his greatest strength, I’d you look at Quali he is definitely strong (especially considering his cars are more often than not slow), but his real magic happens on a Sunday. He is a racing genius, he will sacrifice corners early in order to be put in a better position to overtake 4 corners further ahead. This pairs perfectly with his usually flawless racecraft, he is rarely in scrapes that are his fault or makes mistakes, in my mind the only ones I can think of are him hitting the wall at t4 in Canada in 2005 which meant he retired, him hitting Ocon on the straight in Brasil and going off the track when attempting to overtake Petrov in Abu Dhabi 2010. Given this, he is an almost perfect driver in the race, but usually he has to fight his car which is slower/unreliable and his lower qualification (which is again due to the car). For sure he is not perfect, and his attitude can be harmful to his team, but his talent, intelligence and experience make him an invaluable quantity for any team on the grid, in my mind he can still win a title if given the car beneath him, and I hope with the new wind tunnel and team base that Aston can do that for him. Vamos legend, Vamos.

I think part of the legend of Fernando and what makes him even more special is the fact that he only won two championships. He has earned his reputation not by winning "easy" championships with cars significant faster, but by having incredible consistent races making the most out of slower, unreliable, or mid pack cars, even if it was "just" finishing P7 or P8. And furthermore, the fact that he is going to turn 42 and he is still really fast. I don't know other driver that could do that in my lifetime watching Formula 1.

To me, Fernando is the greatest driver to ever live. He's raced in so many different cars and different styles, and done well in all of them. He's had the longest ever career in Formula 1, a feat that will likely never be surpassed. He single-handedly brought the Spanish speaking world back into the world of motor racing. He hasn't had a bad year, he never puts a foot wrong, and he's even ensuring the future of motorsports with his karting academy. Every world champion he's raced with or against has enormous respect for him. Lewis Hamilton named him as the toughest teammate he ever had. Jenson thought he was the most complete driver. Max Verstappen regretted that he couldn't race against Alonso in a competitive machine. Niki Lauda commended Alonso for immediately building the entire Ferrari team around himself, even better than what Schumacher could do.

Fernando deserved more titles, but his incredible drives and hilarious shenanigans, as well as his say-it-like-it-is mentality have made me fall in love with him. If he ever were to come back at Ferrari, I wouldn't mind one bit. He showed he could deliver even in that complete dogshit 2014 machine, I am confident he still has it in him now.

In current era there s no driver above Alonso, the last one that could have beaten him was Michael Schumacher in his Ferrari years, Verstappen is something like a mixed driver beetwen Senna and Schumacher but if will ever be a team in Verstappen and Alonso will be teammates,in similar cars Alonso will beat him. Alonso had that talent and natural ability to know how to move the car during attacks or defending while Hamilton ever since 2014 when his only rival was his teammate until 2016 he never have been in serious fights or working hard for a title, Hamilton stood like a coward in a car 30 seconds ahead while Alonso struggled in garbage cars for points,Hamilton all he did was to push the gas paddle while Alonso had that intelligence of knowing when and how to turn the steering wheel, when and how to break or to put the car in the position in which his rival has no room, this episode is even crazier thinking that Alonso had hard tyres and defending that good against the best car on the track at that moment, showed that Alonso is above Hamilton, no matter how many victories Hamilton had in lack of competition conditions, his credibility is way below
