@@owain1996Yeah even with titles that he clearly loves like CoD or Riders Republic, he still won't shirk away from shitting on them for things they do bad. Like charging insane amounts of money for small DLC's and minor improvements. Or releasing a DLC as an entirely new game (MWIII) full price.

Luckily, Steam is allowing refunds past the 2 hour mark now, but you may need to submit a support ticket instead. Steam also holds onto funds for 30+ days. Since the "devs" went against the Early Access ToS (has to do with the partners they have), they most likely won't see any money from this.

Steam actually stepped up and did not transfer money from the sales of this scammy PoS to Fntastic before pulling it off the shop, thus ensuring that as many players as possible get a refund. Why anyone would ever buy this game is still beyond me, but at least those gullible people get their money back and might even have learned a valuable lesson.

I saw an american youtuber explain it as they took english and stomped it into the dirt

FYI the vertical slice they showed way back didn't actually have all those mechanics. They just manually placed triggers, so there wasn't really these systems in place. It's easy to trigger an animation when the player presses a key in a certain area, but an entirely different beast to actually create a vaulting system. You can't hardwire the animation and where the player goes, it sort of has to be procedural or attached to nodes, since different objects have different heights. Sometimes you vault onto something, sometimes you vault over something, etc. Although I do think some of the features shown were real and came with the plugins they purchased, but I suspect they probably didn't tie into other plugins they used very easily, or had too many bugs, so they just removed them entirely. Plus some of that stuff was surely built for singleplayer experiences and you build features differently when your game has multiplayer. Everything has to communicate with the servers. Like when you pick up an item, it isn't just being put to "PlayerInventory" (variable), it has all these server checks and then it actually gets assigned to a player ID. There's a reason why you don't see many indie studios making multiplayer games. Once you add multiplayer the complexity of your game sky rockets. And that's just for basic arena shooter type stuff. When you get into MMO territory it's bananas. Any indie studio claiming to make an MMO is a huge red flag.

Ive been following this mess, for over a year now and I was surprised anything playable came out at all. Wild that it's already gone though, figured they would try to scam people for at least a week hahaha!

Man that’s a bummer. I don’t think I’ve bought a game on day one ever not because I think everything is a scam but because there are so many channels that jump at the chance to record themselves playing the game. It’s a great way to see if a game is for you. Why is it so easy to separate gamers from their money? The gaming industry is fairly unique in how much revenue you can generate for unfinished products or shiny digital outfits to the tune of billions of dollars. Wild!

When I bashed it online, I was met with "iTs EaRlY aCcEsS, yOu CleArLy DoNt KnOw WhAt ThAt MeAnS". Can't stand those type of defenders. If vaulting was in the trailer(s), there's zero reason it's not in the release. Not to mention, its not an mmo survival. When mention it's not, I was met with the whole early access, it will come later. If you can find a spouse that will defend you on the level these people defend these devs, they are def the one to keep!

Fr. The only reason you should ever pre-order or get deluxe edition is when you want to actively support the company, especially since deluxe editions are just worthless nowadays. For example, the first game I pre-ordered since probably the last 10-15 years is Dragons Dogma 2. Because I loved and played the shit out of the 1st one and Capcom is just one of the few big companies that are still good. From all trailers, information and people who already got to play it we know it's practically exactly like DD1 but better in every aspect. There's no reason NOT to pre-order for me. But it's also probably going to be the last pre-order for the next 10 years to come. Except for when Larian drops another gem during that time. But I also didn't pre-order BG3, I was wary of the game simply because I don't like D&D and didn't know if the game would be for me. But 95% of games I just get on sale.

I will never preorder let alone buy a game without watching actual gameplay or reading reviews.

I was on their volunteer program for years, purely out of interest in what I believed from the start was a scam - and to no surprise I never saw a single image, statement or any evidence the devs were truly working on it. We never got to test anything and the most the volunteers saw was trailers earlier than others, and the most impact on the game we had was naming the game servers ._. I was kicked out of the program a matter of a week or so before it launched for jokingly doubting the game was real in Discord, from where I received immediate backlash and even threats in my DMs; the entire thing had a cult like feel, if you stepped out of their idea of loving the game and never doubting fntastic, they came at you. I saw them straight away put my message and name in the internal teams channels and claim I was disrespecting the team. Merely an hour after that happened in the Discord and I left, I received an email from HR saying I was no longer fit for the program and broke their policies, thus I was kicked.

Aparently they haven't even shut down, they've just changed names

Watched the stream for a while and left a like for the algo but it was just too painfull 😅 thankfully something good came out of this mess, Tomo & Aculite F'n around for 20 minutes

As someone who saw the adverts and now seeing the actual gameplay I'm glad didn't have my hopes up for all that time. I feel bad for those that really were looking forward to this.

They put more work into the sauna cutscene than the main gameplay.

youre 100% right, if this was an alpha or beta 1.0 release that received weekly updates, it could be great. but calling this a full release is definitely just a huge insult to the community.

I never once had faith in this game ever since the first "gameplay" trailer where they said the words "survival PvP". I HATE survival PvP games so I was naturally never hyped. But I kept an eye on this one anyway just out of curiosity and the path it went down was just mind boggling.

The most unfortunate thing about this situation is that it sets a dangerous president for other scam developers to do the same thing. What needs to happen is that this studio needs to be sued into oblivion. Hurting them financially would send a clear message to other possible bad actors and fly by night imposters to think twice before attempting the same actions.

Yes, for fraud and false advertising, but you can't sue a company that no longer exists. Which is why they're 'shutting down'. Not bc the game 'failed financially', they 100% planned for this and are trying to run away with the money the game made before anyone can sue them for it

@@NandoMandoLeAndoCalando That's not how it works, at all. You can indeed sue a company that no longer exists, it'd be a crazy loophole in the system if you couldn't, don't you think? Besides that, they didn't get a single dime from game sales and they won't. Steam payments are monthly and they are processed in ~30 days, so December 2023 sales would get processed around February 2024. If anything, they scammed investors, and I'm pretty sure they will sue. Players can get a refund, so no hard feelings I guess.

Is there any survival games that take place in the 1970s? IDK why but I want a survival game that takes place in the past with old tech and a late 70s, early 80s vibe.

Okay, I'll say it as well. The way the video game community hyped this up as well as always going to make it flop, or at very least, not meet expectations. Not to say it's this or that person's fault exclusively, mind you. People, creators and consumers alike, always jump on whatever bandwagon seems to be the most popular or drive the most karma/views/likes/whatever meta currency there is, and it's ridiculous. This game was never on my radar, but it was clear from day one it would never be what it tried to be.

Love your content bro;- but in this case in particular(even though ur very clearly advising people not to buy the game), I think you still missed an opportunity;- at least in my opinion, it would have been good if you would have also mentioned what ‘options’ and ‘ways to fight back’ the people who was scammed have now.. Cuz, like steam for example, they do have a refund policy, but to get ur money back u have to be quick quick quick.. Since, at the end of the day, the way I see it, the most important thing right now - what we should be focusing on- is: to compensate as many people as possible so that they can get their money back!! We really can’t allow for the ‘devs’ of this ‘game’ to just get away with such a blatant scam like this. Otherwise it’d be setting a very dangerous precedent for the future;- u know what I mean? It’s easy to now just blame the people who bought this and say: “well, if u was stupid enough and actually fell for this scam, it’s ur own fault.” (Don’t get me wrong though;- It’s not like you said this, u didn’t! But it’s just that a lot of people actually do argue that way) But honestly what kind of logic is this?? There is no theft... paying for alpha is always a gamble, you are essentially paying to test a very early unfinished project. You should be assuming that there is limited functionality, missing features, broken netcode, etc with alpha access Though this developer deserves to be raked over the coals for such blatant false advertising, nothing was stolen. If someone selling snake oil approaches you, and you readily buy the oil without asking questions or asking for proof it works... that's not stealing.

They tried to pull the release first and fix later like many early access game nowaday but look like the quality of the day before backfire them with overwhelmingly negative review, players dropped and a lot of refund. So their best option is shutdown everything and run away :))
