I'd say the darkest things I remember Zim doing were tearing out a child's eyeballs and in another episode replacing the organs of schoolchildren with everyday objects, then putting their organs inside himself. *shudders* I will never forget that episode

Back in the late 90s he drew a self portrait of himself which is aging in his place.

As much as I love Zim and am excited for the movie, it's kind of sad hearing this. Jhonen obviously wants to be done with TV Zim (if not TV overall), but of course marketing, business, fandoms, etc. won't let that happen. At least now, after this movie, he'll be able to be free of it. Love you, Jhonen, and thanks for the art

He talks about Nick's overview in a light hearted way. But Im pretty sure Nick is the reason Invader Zim is the way it is. Jhonen probably had an entirely different vision for it. Its like moving back in with your parents. Yeah the food is free, but do you really wanna hear constant criticism about your clothes, hair, and life choices?

It sounds like he would enjoy it more if he didnt have to deal with Nick. I'm sure an Invader Zim on Adult Swim would work out WAY better. Not that it would have to go so much into a horrific direction, but he'd never really have to worry about something being "too much" to show.

It's kinda sad seeing how he's not really invested in Zim anymore. I understand it, and I respect it. But as a fan, that's very disappointing to hear. Because IM still invested in it.

jakstrieder That's kind of what happens with creators that have one super successful thing. People start to define them by it and nothing else. They become known for that one thing no matter what else they do for the rest of their lives. It's hard to break away from that.

This Is what happened to Conan Doyle w/ Sherlock Holmes, hence is attempt to kill the character off. He was actually branded a murderer by the general public, and forced by his publisher to bring him back. He never enjoyed writing him again

I really enjoy listening to Jhonen’s interviews and panels, he speaks the truth and it’s disgustingly delightful.

Too bad Jhonen doesnt seem to like his creation anymore. I would love to see a later version of Zim or some kind of spin off with Gaz. I love Gaz.

Everyone has a Florpus in they're home. First, they take a dinglebop and they smooth it out with schleem. The schleem is then repurposed for later batches.

Jhonen Vasquez seems very unenthusiastic and that has me worried for the movie reboot.

Working with Nick is notoriously bad for creativity. They were constantly nit-picking at ZIM for the oddest things, but letting others fly (the whole plot of Dark Harvest)

I'm weirdly inspired by the fact that Jhonen made this glorious show at the age of 22. I'm glad that he is making this movie for us, but I'm even more glad he isn't afraid to admit that it's tiring and he doesn't plan to do more of it. It's that honesty and brutality that, in part, makes Invader Zim (and Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, I Feel Sick, etc) so great.

I feel like predator would just get annoyed with zim and leave him alone

No, JTHM would have to be on the internet or on a network with fewer rules, like HBO or something. JTHM needs to be able to freely curse, disembowel, and communicate with Señor Diablo. Jhonen himself in this interview said that he'd need to be able to do it "his way" - i.e. it's his baby and creative interference and restrictions would kill the whole thing.

The guy has obviously made enough money AND/OR feels accomplished enough as an artist that he's in no rush to take on the beast that is the production of an animated series. He was young, potentially broke, and hungry for affirmation that he was a great creator when he was younger, so he was willing to grind and tolerate production woes back then... now that he's most likely earned everything he's ever wanted, I'm sure he just wants to relax and enjoy himself, which he definitely has earned. Alas, it saddens me because I absolutely love Invader Zim, but I get it. I don't think the guy is married or has kids, so he's probably still really living life, if you know what I mean, heheh. Who wants to be held back by work/family when they don't need to be?

I'm a ZIM fan, but Ren and Stimpy terrified me, aha. ZIM was just like watching a slasher movie; not scary but thrilling.

I have been thinking about the scenario of zim and marvin meeting for months and he just said exactly what i expect from their personalities.

Zim's goal was to straight up kill Dib as a child in the pig-replacement episode.

This is exactly the man and mindset we need for Zim. The trailer looks like the movie is going to answer every question we had when it got canceled and just be a wild ride in general! Can't wait!

Nick still has the rights, but Jhonen doesn’t want to work with Nick’s constraints. The best outcome for everyone would be selling the rights to a channel that lets Jhonen be Jhonen, if that’s what it would take for him to come back to the show.

This was the saddest thing in a while. C’mon Jhonen, give us a series! You can do it, you’re still in your prime lol.

I swear that 'Enter the Florpus' is going to basically be a slightly altered version of 'The Returning' from the Oni press comic series, portions of the trailer just seemed too close to portions of the comic's first story. I can't be the only one who sees the similarities, although i might be alone in this opinion?

Dark harvest. I'm a huge horror fan and that episode made *me* uneasy.
