A lot of politicians and regular people in the streets have dual citizenship, they just haven't declared it.
There is NO disadvantage to having a dual citizenship. (I hold 3 passports and have never felt a downside to that; quite the contrary!). Your arguments have little validity. How many people go into politics (0.01%?) or the military (1%?). You fail to mention that you can always renounce your second citizenship if it becomes a handicap. So, there’s no drawback. In your case, your dream of becoming a politician may, may never, materialise. But again, if it comes to it, all you’d have to do is to drop your British citizenship (which is not complicated at all) to shoot for President of Ghana, or whatever position you dream of. It happens all the time. Honestly, any African would be crazy to turn down a Western passport for any reason whatsoever.

@@omololaokeadeola6161 There can be downsides to having dual nationality. For instance, If you hold an American passport, you’re liable to pay taxes in the US, whether you live in the US or not. This can mean you pay tax in 2 countries. Several other countries have similar provisions.

@@omololaokeadeola6161 You can have as many as you want. I have a Nigerian friend, who holds Panama, Nigeria, Britain, and St Kitts and Nivea passports. I'm aiming for 8 before I die. Have you heard of citizenship by ancestry? You're leaving a legacy for your younger generation.
Plenty of Africans return their Western passport, all depends on your position and status in life. Most Western countries don't have tax treaties with African countries, you would have to pay the double taxes and later file a claim for refund. Africans get excited with foreign nationalities but don't understand the implications. If you have something good going for you in your country of birth you don't need the western passport.
Ghana will lobby you to convince your Britain born professional soccer player to come play for Ghana but will not want you to bring your wealth of knowledge to help develop Ghana. The local champions are afraid you will end their corrupt practices. Period. Most of them have nothing to offer. Politics is a means to an end for them. Hong Kong did the very opposite when they got their independence from England. They went around the world searching for their best. With these local champions, Ghana has no future.
I’m in the Navy, I joined as commonwealth citizen after completing my masters program. They don’t ask you to renounce your Ghanaian citizenship, you can keep both, but if you are only exempt visa holder or holds only Ghana passport, you can’t be an officer or submarine with your masters qualification, because I want to commission as officer I have now applied for my British passport.Get your passport and your future is secured okay. You can drop the British book when you decide to do Ghana politics. To me Ghana politics is not worth it get your passport and enjoy the goodies that it comes with my dear

Very good and informative video, first time coming across your channel. The identity conflict can be challenging. When people say where are you from, my default is the UK, my place of birth, no one can take that away from me. For administration purposes when attending certain imstituitions I say whatever country that I am residing "from". Some people like to connect me to Barbados.(my parents birthplace). I am not from there I was not born there and they would not recognize me I would have to apply for citizenship which is a process. Good luck in your political aspirations. Thank you for your insightful video! Regarding the right to public healthcare for citizens, in some countries, e.g. EU countries, once you let your country of origin in the EU, e.g., an EU citizen living in the UK, know that you are resident outside the EU, you are no longer eligible for free healthcare in that country even if you are a citizen. That is because in the EU healthcare right is dependent on residence, not citizenship. 👍🏻

Do you want to swap British citizenship for a seat in the parliament of a cesspool of a country like Ghana? Do you really understand the benefits multiple passports bring? Putting all your eggs in one basket is stupid! Also for double taxation, you're not absolutely correct since in most countries if you don't stay for more than 90 days, you ain't required to pay taxes. I'm originally from Ghana, but a legal resident in Mauritius, I have been a Nomad for 8 years and haven't filed taxes in any country during this period. For the US it's a different ball game altogether. As of May 15, 2023, 5,315 US citizens have renounced their citizenship, a sharp increase from the 2,390 who were renounced in 2022. When Tina Turner did that some decades back and moved to Switzerland, many people didn't understand her. It's not as complicated as you wanted us to believe. Many are renouncing US citizenship because of the obnoxious tax system and the fact that the land of the free is no longer free, now an empire of warmongers, deep state conspiracy, Welfare haven with lesser opportunity to create wealth, etc. With your love for politics, you can always renounce your citizenship before you file any legal papers to stand for public office. Those who got into trouble were the greedy ones who wanted to eat their cake and have it back. Multiple citizenship offers freedom of movement without the cost and headache of getting visas. Besides, it presents a lot of opportunities aside from those you mentioned. When things get messy in one country, there is the option to move elsewhere without getting caught in the 'crossfire'.

Don't take now that u have the vision because in reality British passport is only a travel document. Indefinite is OK because the only thing u can't do with that is voting and visa that u have to acquire. Most British passport holders don't vote and in your situation u don't have problem acquiring visa

No passport is 'only a travel document' regardless of where you come from. It's an official identification document. It also helps the country regulate the goings & coming of people across country boarders as well as confirming your status as a member of a sovereign state/country irrespective of where you live.
You don't say black American. You say African American.

I’m in the Navy, I joined as commonwealth citizen after completing my masters program. They don’t ask you to renounce your Ghanaian citizenship, you can keep both, but if you are only exempt visa holder or holds only Ghana passport, you can’t be an officer or submarine with your masters qualification, because I want to commission as officer I have now applied for my British passport.

Nanelle, please talk slowly. You are tripping over your words and it is difficult for non-English speakers to follow your presentation. Please be measured in your words. You want people to understand what you are saying, don’t turn them off with your rapid fire speech.
I don't feel the UK should allow Dual Nationality..
