@JRPGFan20000 "souls" in 40k are not what we call souls in the catholic religion. It's simple the subject's presence in the warp. A human can exist without it, those humans are a special class of psycker who negate the warp in them and around them, cutting any link they might have to the soul's realm. So dark eldars' don't really change from this perpetual change of souls, but their permanent link surely corrupt them

For those confused as to why the Imperium has gone to the Dark Eldar for help, as opposed to the Eldar. The answer is simple the Dark Eldar have access to the vast majority of advanced technology from the pre-fall Eldar empire. This might be confusing for some, since the Craftworld Eldar have closer connections to their ancient traditions. What many people often forget or don't know about the Craftworld Eldar is that prior to the Fall, Craftworlds were not designed as places to live in and of themselves but as transport craft design to deliver supplies between distant planets. Because of the vast distances required to deliver various goods and supplies it was necessary for Craftworlds to be self sufficient. This would lead the inhabitants of these Craftworld to develop an insular and completely parallel culture to mainstream Eldar society. Thus they were effective "gypsies" within there own culture. Now admittedly the Craftworlds are advanced technology but they were effectively highly complex transports, think about it this way how advanced are our own shipping boats compared to the our overall level of technological prowess. Now the Dark Eldar on the other hand have an entire city full of technological marvels from their golden age. A city that acted as the primary shipping lane between the Webway and Real Space for the ancient Eldar empire. They have suns contained contained within a sub-realm around their city that they use as near endless power source and sophisticated understanding of biological augmentation that surpasses any other race currently in existence. There rejuvenating technology is so effective the oldest of Commoragh's Homunculi were alive even before the Fall. They have created weaponry that can cause massive crippling pain and injuries while also still keeping you alive and conscience. So to summarize while both have access to technology far beyond anything humanity currently has. The Dark Eldar simply have more of it and in some cases have technology that simply nobody else has access to or can even replicate.

The Drukhari however have one major default with most of these ancient tech : They cannot operate it any longer. Most of these technology were based on psychic abilities to be used, and the Drukhari Lost that a long time ago. For exemple, in Valedor, the Drukhari offers to the Asuryani an ancient planet-killer weapon called the Fireheart to fight the Tyranids, because it requires Psykers to activate. Another reason for the technological difference is that, unlike what most believe, the Asuryani are not found of mass destruction and murder, and as such, avoid using mass destruction weapons like the Drukhari have, or technology based on forbidden science (like Necromancy), because it may lead them closer to Chaos. Only some Craftworld like Iyanden have passed beyond that restrictions for necessities, and Craftworld Biel-Tan, because they give themselves the permission as Defenders of the Maiden World. However, this last part has become less important with the closing days of the 41st Millenium.

actually, the drukhari are incredibly honest. they'll keep their word to you...to the letter. they will just also happen to do some other stuff outside of that. I mean, look at what happened with the T'au. they kept their word and defended the tau worlds they promised to protect. they just happened to do some other stuff beyond that.

The Drukari are also the actual Eldar of the fall and remember the great technologies they made at their heights. The reason the Inquisition didn't deal with the Aeldari is because they don't have the technical knowledge the Drukari do since they left the home worlds before the fall. As much as everyone hates to admit it, the Drukari are the Eldar of the Empire

Whilst humans are populous and useful don’t forget the sheer resources the Drukhari command. Some of their factions make a habit of capturing the populations of entire hive worlds to put in suspended animation to cover any potential ‘famines’. Comorragh itself is a ‘city’ that is the size of an entire sector. The imperial navy are a thorn in their side. No astromicon = no imperial fleet = feeding frenzy. No (or vastly reduced) humans = much less fuel for the Chaos Gods. Could be pretty handy for the Drukhari to betray the Imperium. There are other slave races that are available.

They would inevitably run out of new slaves. Crippled Empire would serve them, a dead one would in the long run hurt them. In any case it is a huge gamble, one that it's safer not to take.

The Dark Eldar can be perhaps be blackmailed as well. The Throne holds closed a rift not only into the Warp, but also stabilizes a shattered portion of the Webway. The Throne fails? Well then Daemons flood into the Webway, and they would not only overrun Terra, but, using their now-unfettered access to the Webway, would very likely head directly for the Dark City itself; a prize that Slaanesh has coveted for millennia.

AS a drukhari, there are many reasons to do so, besides the obvious souls. Mankind is still one of the biggest enemy of Chaos. And the chance to manipulate the Emperor by "repairing" the thorne to influence the emperors behavior would be a tremendous advantage. Drukahri Archons are long term schemers. Also the Drukahri know best how to use souls to stay alive.

Dark Eldar aren't also something that a lot of the greater galaxy is: Stupid. Dark Eldar by comparison to every one other major civilization within the galaxy live within their own means. What they do is from a place of survival, which is why they are compelling in the first place. They know helping humanity only benefits them. More slaves, more allies, more victims, and ultimately more chances for a way to stop Slaanesh.

To a point. They escape chaos' notice in part because they don't actively pose a threat to them. If humanity fell into the Eye of Terror, that priority would change, but strengthening the Imperium also makes it harder to acquire pain slaves. No, I think the appeal is more selfish and less political. Homunculi are supposedly politically mercenary, their loyalties going to whomever can best provide them with their needs (test subjects, souls, etc). This is not an accord with a Cabal and therefore with Asdrubael or Malys.

The Dark Eldar are monsters in their behavior. But they have to do what they do to not become soul snacks for She Who Thirsts. I've always personally liked the Imperium the most in 40K, although I don't agree with everything they've done, but in the choice between psycho pervert Xenos and a beyond fucking psycho pervert Chaos God? I'll take the Xenos. They can be wiped much easier if the time comes, and besides can they really be judged for what they do? Considering how thousands of souls are fed to the Emperor every week to sustain Him, his own people, can the Drukhari be judged so harshly?

They should have asked/buyed help from the Necrons instead.

This is really well done. The main reason(s) the Imperium would seek the help of the Dark Eldar (of all beings) instead of the Eldar (who helped resurrect Gulliman) is that the DE have a much greater access to Eldar tech. Capture a load of Ork Mech bois, along with tonnes of Orks you convince to be loyal to the Emperor by promising them really cool weapons if they're loyal to the Emperor, and then have the residents of Terra cheer them on as they repair the Throne. The extra Ork mercenaries are just there to amplify the effect but by cheering on the Mech bois they'll be utterly convinced their thing will work, and because of that it will. Alternatively, get those Drukhari but use Orks to amplify the effect, or get your Mechanicus and psykers to get their shit together so that you can figure out how exactly Orks work and see if you can make some new kind of Ork which isn't obsessed with killing everything but still has that self-belief effect, then make more and more and then have them amplify the capability of the repairmen you get working on the Throne and then the capability of the Emprah himself.

On the subject of Golden throne, however - Dark eldar have retained more of the ancient Eldar Empire technology than Craftworld ones, since denizens of Commorragh were refugies from crown worlds, whereas craftworlders before the Fall were spacefaring gipsies.

i dont think the drukhari would betray the imperium in a way that would end the emperor/empire. i think the drukhari would know that this would birth another chaos god

The Throne was made to push the Emprah's grand plan (My son puts me in a chair to make me a God so I can kill Chaos Gods, eat the remnants(like what happened to the Eldar gods) and score Eldar Goddess booty Just as planned). It is a mere cocoon from which the Emprah can become a god

The technology behind the Talos Pain Engine and such seems like it would be related to the Golden Throne; mechanical engine fueled by human suffering; yet immune to the Warp’s influence.

It is in the interest of the Dark Eldar to preserve the Emperor. Because if his psychic barrier fails and Chaos marines seize the golden throne. They will be able to use it to set up a base within the webway to stage an assault on the Drukhari and reach the Black Library.

I love your videos and encounter them often while working, so you come on my autoplay a lot. Idk but I am jarred every time by the loud introduction, just me I suppose. You do a great job as a lore master, I'm just easily spooked i suppose.

Snorlaxx UnLucky there would be a massive warp rift on Terra itself and the Astronomican would go out, leaving the Imperium “in the dark” as far as long distance travel

Plus, it would take quite awhile for interstellar travel to happen. So before that can be re-established a second age of strife would happen.

Something to mention is that the Dark Eldar are more technological advanced than their Craftworld kin. They retain more of their former empire's technology. So it's possible that the Craftworlds simply don't have the know-how, forcing the Inquisitors to go to Commoragh for aid.

@@some_shitposting_idiot3023 they have a lot of tech from the Ancient Eldar empire. However most of it they can no longer use most likely because the tech was made for psykers in mind. Something the Dark Eldar no longer possess

Drukhari can be bargained with if you know you have them by their balls. And no race is so close to being devoured by a chaos god as them, so with the right bargain they will do it for free if it somehow benefits them. For example the emperor somehow cutting Slaneshi link to the elves or something.

A lot of Heresy again! I like it!

I’d sooner trust the Tau to help fix advanced technology but honestly they’d probably recommend just building a whole new stasis chamber

My thought is the emperor would fry anyone brought in to fix the throne in a fraction of milisecond if they even thought about messing with him or the device

Dark Eldar will keep their end of the bargain so long as you can ensure that doing what you tell them to will be more lucrative than stabbing you in the back Orks will keep their end of the bargain so long as you can keep them from getting bored. Neither are small feats.

I think the decision to use drukhari also has something to do with their expertise in using eldar technology without the use of their own psychic potential. this may give them greater understanding when it comes to inherently psychic technology than the craftworld eldar, as well as humanity not bringing potentially malicious psychic beings near the emperor.

New fanfic has been inspired in me

4000 psykers each day? I know the Impirium is vast but that's a ridiculously high number considering how rare psykers are. And warp travel is unreliable at best. What if one of the black ships arrives a day late to Terra? Also imagine the potential lost here. If just one in a thousand of those psykers would manage to become a Grey Knight that would be 1460 Grey Knights per year. Basically the Golden Throne is consuming a legion worth of super astartes every century. (talking about Grey Knights not primaris)

Do the Drukhari not stand to benefit from the Emperor being around? While they may not like humans, they need them for their rituals. Also if the imperium fails does that allow chaos even more power? Feels like they would prefer to deal with humans than not.

Yes they are ultimately parasites and depend on humanities survival and prosperity in order to obtain its constant tithe of sacrificial captives. Another important factor for them is that of the Imperium falls there is no longer any distraction to occupy Chaos who will then proceed to assault the Dark City and claim the Drukhari souls for their own.

Cloning the Emperor would also be a possibility, "vat clones" have been a staple of both Space Marine Lore and other groups in the Imperium since at least 3rd ed.

I heard about the dank eldar helping the big E and needed to Google this, was up until 6 am bathing in some of my new favorite lore, and then I came across this video The pleasure never ends I feel like a commoragh citizen on christmas

The Dark Eldar would help the Imperium for one simple reason. Slannesh. They know the Imperium are the only thing that can slow down Chaos and if they wake the Emperor of Mankind then the Chaos gods are going to be busy.

That and the drakari'd probably be less dangerous, both would fuck you over but the dark eldar would probably do something obvious, like put a bomb in or something. A farseer'd leave a slight scratch on the floor the emperor would trip and break his back on as he's finally resurrected from the throne 8 thousand years latter. That and the craftworld eldar might not have the technology they're basically descendents of the eldar amish.

I don't trust the Drukhari not to hide a kill switch inside their throne. Imagine being able to hold the Emperor ransom.
