@@lokenlok3114, you don't read a lot of 1st Legion books, do you? The Lion figured out Kurze, Fateweaver, Guilliman's desire for empire, and the fact that he can trust Sanguinius. The 20th Legion hated working with the 1st because they both knew that the other was holding out secrets. If you are referring to Luther, he gave his lifelong brother the benefit of the doubt, besides, Luther wasn't corrupted by Chaos yet. He was just jealous. Perturabo was the only other one that deceived the Lion, and that was because the Lion was trying to politic with the least agreeable primarch. Besides, Perturabo was labeled a loyalist force, charged with punishing Horus. The Lion was acting logically forward an ally.

If the lord of the first Legion returns, then the Inquisition isn't going to have crap to say about it. They will tolerate it, swallow it, and drive on. Between the Brotherhood of the two primarchs, their previous alliance towards the end of the Horus Heresy, the alliance of all of The Unforgiven under the banner of a single Legion once more, and anybody else that would give credence to Lion El' Jonson, Inquisition would be in no position to gainsay anything that was said by the Lion. In fact, I might suggest that if the Lion returns, it maybe as a direct will of the Emperor, and the Lion may affirm that will with a trip to the throne room. The Lion is a monarch. Roboute is a fine logistician and commander, but in the presence of both, the Lion commands and demands respect and obedience. Roboute was intended as a March Warden, not as a reagent for the Emperor, as has been noted by the 6th Legion. Let chaos rail, they are simply afraid. The return of the Lion would mean a marked swing in favor of the Emperor and his will.

@@markrtoffeeman, the Emperor will appoint the Lion as his regent, his right hand, which was why he dashed Roboute's feelings when he met with him. Don't forget that the number of conquered worlds during the Great Crusade was right between Horus (who was at it the longest), Guilliman (who already had an empire historically in Ultramar), and the Lion who not only was found later but had to take time off because the Emperor called him away to the Rangdan Xenocide to stop an existential threat to the Imperium. He put it down, killed them all, the whole species, lost 30,000 astartes because the human troops were particularly vulnerable to the enemy, and still kept up with Horus and Guilliman's planet count and was 2nd in total number of astartes to the 13th. Let's not forget that Roboute and Horus saw the planets as their own (the Unremembered Empire) whereas the Lion only ever saw them as his father's (see Russ' primarch novel). The Big E just told Guilliman what he needed to hear when they spoke. The Lion is different, Russ is different, Vulkan is very different. They all will have their roles. Guilliman is a march warden, which means being good at logistics, bless his heart. The Lion is a monarch, a lord of knights, and exudes dominance, authority, and respect. If you recall, the Sigilite sent no pack from Russ to watch the Lion, but he did send a pack to Macragge.

@@kingbaldwiniv5409 I also love how in Knights of Caliban we see the Lion and Horus from the view of Typhon (who becomes Typhus). While in Horus' presence he recognizes a great primarch and "almost" wants to bow to one knee when he sees Horus. And this is Typhon, he was not easily impressed by much of anything. He didn't even care for his own primarch, Mortarion, by this point in the series as he states in an internal monologue. Yet when the Lion enters the room Typhon and everyone else, except Horus, immediately take a knee without second thought. He just exuded knightly/kingly majesty that even Typhon who didn't care for Primarchs, the HH, or anything outside of the warrior lodge which was his backdoor to Nurgle, even Typhon bowed down without conscious thought.

Roboute is a different man than the Lion. Jonson was more reflective on the concepts of Good and Evil, ought and ought not, and saw his efforts as being purely subsidiary to the Emperor of mankind, whereas route a saw his 500 worlds as his Empire. If the Lion returns, is because it is his father's will, a will which he will most assuredly serve. Guilliman is a different sort. I like Roboute a lot, but he is not going to look at things in the same way that the Lord of the First would. Even though he is the only confirmed living loyalist primarch, using Roboute as an analog for the Lion is not an accurate comparison.

Lion already knows about the fallen, he was there when they were scattered throughout the chaos. Also the DA get their secretive nature from the man himself so he would probably maintain it as a secret.

Angron... Is a tragedy. What does a man, treated in such an utilitarian manner owe his creator? One who would exploit him and discard him like a tool, like the arbiters of his first Terran Empire, the Thunder Warriors? Even trivially... The Red Angel did not believe in the Emperor or in his dream of a better Imperium of Man, having only seen both at their giggling, manic, bourgouis worst. What do they or indeed anyone know of courage and honor? These warriors of fair weather who have never had to suffer the mutilation of their own minds? Courage is fighting an enemy no matter how many times the enemy outnumber your own, and honor is standing by your friends even if it is the last thing you do.

The first thing the lion is going to do when he returns is teach the imperium how to dress and armor themselves fashionably, then teach everyone how to properly hold, care for, and use a sword

Whatever happens in the story, whenever Lion comes back it will have to permanently change the state of 40k; there are too many things tied into the Dark Angels storyline for things to just go back to normal.

I'd love to see the Lion's return. He's a great kind of commander and leader whose talents are indeed needed. In this scenario, the Lion and Dorn working together could be interesting as both are brilliant military commanders and leaders.

He is back. The Lone Knight, The Beast of Caliban, The Lion is back on the field!

I think it's entirely possible that the Lion is already awake, having being brought up to speed by the Watchers and is planning his next move... He might even be gathering his legions out on the fringes.

@@rexlumontad8078 it's because the 1st are different, their traitors didn't just fall to chaos, they chose their way of life over the emperors, people are often mistaken into thinking that the dark angels hold contempt for the fallen, they do not, Luther was a wise man, should the lion forgive him upon his return the dark angels would be close to full legion strength, can you imagine what a legion in 40k could do, especially the dark angels, the 1st are hunters, not like the scars, they are brutal, not like the wolves, they are fast hitting, not like the ravens, hard hitting, not like fists, battlefield genius, not like the ultras, they are all these things combined into a glorious host like the sons of sanguinius, the lion is the son destined to walk the path of the emperor, to bring order to his surroundings, that is his purpose and the emperor gave him gifts to that end. The greatest gift of all is secrecy, though many despise it in his sons it was gifted to protect his greatest tool, the reason the watchers follow him, the terror sight.

You are actually correct Luthor was the charismatic one. However I have heard that the lion had a latent psyker ability that basically said "KNEEL" in psyker speak and people kneeled

7:05 I really do find the quote of Guilliman to be a characterization, and just brings him in line with the 40k universe. I like the way that he was written in the 30k timeline and despite being the Mary Sues of the 40k universe, i'm very partial to the 30k Ultramarines, striving through order for something better. Guilliman just feels 'grounded' aspring to be more, while understanding that it's not all rainbows and fairy tales.

Part of me has always wondered how El' Jonson & Kornrad Cruze got on as both of them had similar childhood experiences of growing up feral.
