Dark Continent is genuinely a very very intriguing place. I still remember when I first read about it it give me chill. We learn that HxH's world is big but then Tagashi dropped “It's just a small place inside a lake inside a wide land stretches to infinity.

Idk but how Togashi is setting up the Dark Continent and having super powerful beasts previously shown (that are from there) I sense a real feel of danger and dread from the Dark Continent and I usually don't really feel that impacted as this with other fictions. Pretty nice storytelling from my boi Togashi.

yeah, I’m usually never even exited by a location from an anime or anything movie etc, this is the only one that i’ve ever gotten hyped for all through out all media

I hope Ging takes over as the protagonist when the characters get to the dark continent, because only through his perspective can we really get a full understanding of what Pariston and Beyond netero are plotting

Watch him catch his target like parstion being hunter get him to slip up. Ging got eveyone attention even people like hisoka. I can’t wait to see Ging and Beyond Netero show their strength and capabilities in the Dark Continent. It has so much potential and could the the most hype manga arc in history.

To bad Gon didn't join the expedition but I bet they will join later along with killua cause there's some beneficial there for killua Iike the ai for nanika and the stone that give electricity. So it's most likely that killua will go there along side with alluka and Gon cause remember Gon spent his life force so he need the rice to increase his life force.

Kurapika and especially Lerio deserve some screen time to show us their growth. I don’t see the big deal since we know gon and killua will eventually find their way to the dark continent. Imho it will happen after a time skip and they will have to go find Kurapika/Lerio and it will be epic.

The dark continent is one of my favorite worldbuilding concepts in all of anime, the potential horrors and rewards are too tempting for humanity to not wanna go obtain it but the difficulty of them getting there is basically our equivalent of going to space and it's arguably vastly more dangerous because of the seemingly demonic entities and creatures that reside there and seem to enjoy taking humans out. Gooooooooooood dangit, Bobby. I need me summa dat dark continent cosmic horror.

@AndrewWithEase11 11 it would have been realistic thinking the series is over before he wasn't continuing the series, and there was nothing out for 4 years. not anymore. also the interest of the dark continent comes from what's yet to be discovered and the mystery, and creativity yet to come, which is why everyone is excited and intrested, so stop being such a sad being, and read what's to come or shut up about it, and go read something else if you don't like it.

I feel like Mereum could actually be a top predator in the Dark Continent now. We all think Chimera Ants are weak compared to the creatures in the DC, but I believe Chimera Ants from the human world actually became much much stronger than the ones on the Dark Continent because their evolution was mostly never interrupted. When Gon and Killua first meet Kite, the ants are super weak, these are probably the same ants that are in the Dark Continent. In the DC since there are a lot of OP creatures probably, they probably never gave a chance for Chimera Ants to evolve because they just kept killing them. And since the Chimera Ants are probably one of the weakest DC creatures, there werent any other weaker organisms to feed nen off of, so they cant just hide and farm nen from weaker creatures. However in the human world since theres not a lot of things stopping them from evolving, they were able to become very strong. I feel like Chimera Ants in the Dark Continents just kept getting spawn trapped and thus never got the chance to produce an ant as strong as the Royal Guards or Mereum. Even the Chimera Ant Queen in the human world was weak, she was probably the pinnacle of Chimera Ant strength in DC before they started eating nen from humans

Chimera ants were rated C and Meruem was rated B level threat because all of them got destroyed by the nuke. Calamities are a force of nature and diseases which cannot be stopped by nukes. This is why they are rated A level threats

I've always wondered wether the Freeks family originated from the Dark Continent. Gin and Gon seemed so suspiciously overly talented with NEN that i wonder if their ancestors may have been people from the Dark Continent with a WAY stronger connection to NEN than normal humans from the human world. If humans exist on the Dark Continent I'd asume that it is a civilisation where pretty much EVERY SINGLE person is as strong as the strongest characters we've seen so far. Maybe Gin(g) would be a weakling compared to them. Like comparing Sayajins to humans? I've been wondering about that for so long now...

Also it always rung to me the phrase that Wing said when Gon and Killua learned to use nen. We saw both Gon and Killua be absurdly proficient with nen, but Killua always showed more prowess in developing its abilities. Even tho he clearly could see that, he focused on Gon and said something along the lines of that he had “awakened a monster”, almost scared.

Does anyone remember the lovely ghostwriter ability? In the York new city arc chrollo told the future of the other phantom troupe members after stealing it. We can actually suck out a lot of information from these poems. Now, I only know their German version because...well I'm German, and I think searching and pasting out the English version into a KZread comment is too much. But the deciding thing it shalnark's poem. It told him he would die If he made a phone call (basically, you can just Google for more information). If all remember, he was killed after a phone call by Hisoka. That means Togashi still remembers the Poems he wrote. Let's take shizuku for another example. She was told she would meet her end if she left her Partner and die in "a field covered in black items". This probably means the luggage compartment on our little whale ship thing. If Togashi really sticks with these Poems, Shizuku will leave her phantom troupe partners (maybe even without free will/being tricked) and go to the luggage compartment where hisoka will most likely kill here. Because let's be honest, why would Kurapika be in the luggage compartment when he has to protect a prince. Hisoka is most likely. These are only two examples! We could of course Analyse all other poems, or those who said a member would die or whatever. But I think this is enough for now. Does this sound trustworthy? I apologize for spelling or Gramma Errors, this is my second language

@@steeg03 What if the caveat to that, is that it doesn't actually percent death? It only delays it. Shalnark died of his prediction a year or two later.

Maybe the deal with the gatekeepers is a nen contract: you may receive an extraordinary amount of nen (for them to survive) in exchange of a calamity if you fail the contract

i think the contract is more like be in discpline and follow the guides instructions in the dark contient but if they fail to follow his instructions and they get a calamity to attack them the guide makes them take it back as punishment

Don’t know if anyones thought of this but when Ging tells Gon to go back to his home island cause there’s something there for him. It’s the east edition, out of any character in this story Ging would be the one to have it. Also sets up Gon possibly coming back to help with the expedition using the knowledge of the book.

@Water Falls actually they are all main characters but only gon is the protagonist, whereas killua is considered a deuteragonist then kurapika and leoreo comes after him. That's how they are defined. Source: I study fantasy literature.

been a fan of togashis work since i was a kid... and i just got hit with an epiphany... this man created a world with its own language, power system, unknown lands, card game, board games, intricate political system and moral views... all that and more... when trying to explain hxh isnt something you can put into a sentence or phrase... which leads me to believe when this man passes he is leaving something so vast that i dont think he is gonna have enough time to finish... so what if he is doing all this on purpose? meaning he leaves this world for new mangaka to explore with their writting... like ovas of sorts? it wouldnt be cannon but i would still love to read anything hxh related even if it doesnt come from togashi directly.. kinda like an rpg with side quests...

My man Togashi set up what could possibly be the greatest arc ever in manga, the stakes, the characters, the story, the mystery, the interweaving plots all 10/10 and being masterfully woven together as the tension builds. We shadow this arc is casting is immeasurable and incomparable to anything I've ever seen. It's truly incomprehensible what this arc could even possibly turn out like, no point of reference, no clear idea of anything they could find, what could happen or what effect it will have on the story. It's daunting the sheer amount of insurmountable negative energy and sense of doom the place exudes it's terrifying. And after he sets all that up he just doesn't write it.

i don't even care anymore about characters as i used to but, the dark continent makes this one of the more exciting things ever, hope Togashi doesn't get bored of it.

Togashi makes me upset. He’s so incredibly talented and there is so much room for story here. I mean the Dark Continent could easily produce 500 chapters of story and not scratch the surface. I wish he would just write the story and let others draw. Assemble a team of around 5 or 6 artist and push out things weekly. So much story and talent that we won’t see reach it’s full potential

Of course that would be possible, which is why many think the reason for the hiatus is a lack of inspiration / motivation / confidence. Think about it, many deem the chimera ant arc one of the best anime arcs of all times, on top of that the show has been teasing the dark continent hard, thus building much expectation and anticipation. It is very, very likely that the dark continent arc will be worse than the chimera arc and I believe Togashi is afraid of that.

I've always found it super interesting that the Gatekeeper(s) call it the "New World", instead of the Old World, with the good amount of evidence of humanity having originated there. It's like Humans were once a force to be reckoned with then left with a strong force into Lake Mobius and settled there, leaving behind perhaps their women and children or something. Perhaps a magical beast contacted a guide for their journey there, but then left themselves to settle on the world we know today, leaving the original, beast level humans without a way to return. This would have stranded the weaker members of humanity on the DC without a form of protection. Super interesting the way Togashi has constructed all this, the dude is a master of creating crazy intrigue

Is there any info on the "New Continent"? I ask because based on the progression, the ending of the succession war would be more likely to end there than it would to end at the Dark Continent AND while it isn't part of the Dark Continent, it isn't part of the "Old World" either. At the moment, as far as I know, there is even less known about it than the Dark Continent. I thought perhaps that was where the "gate" to the Dark Continent exists OR that is where the "Guide" is acquired.

@@stormcutter59 My thoughts exactly. I've been wondering it for years now. It was mentioned in almost an offhand fashion, the only picture of it I have seen shows it to be HUGE comparative to the rest of the "old world" continents (it's essentially another copy of the "Africa" continent, but BIGGER), the hunter association knows all about it yet no one lives there and there has been no drive to populate it. All that seems very odd to me. That is when I started thinking about the Gate Keepers and the "inability" to sail to the dark world, yet all these trips have made it. So, where do the gatekeepers live? The new continent makes the most sense to me. If they live there, then I could see why the government and Hunter Association would want to keep it hidden from the rest of the world as well.

If we assume, Togashi drew the New Continent to scale, at the very least we know it's a continent that's bigger than all the Old World combined so if humanity settles it, they'll be busy for the next few centuries colonizing it.

@@gracjanlekston134 I googled it up since I haven't looked in awhile (it has been almost 4 years afterall lol) and regardless of the shape, it is at least as big as several of the old continents if not bigger than all of them combined, as you said. That is why I'm more curious about it than the Dark Continent atm. WHY is it unknown except to the Hunters and the G5/G6? Why wouldn't they want to take advantage of all that land nearby? This is just a guess by me obviously, but that picture of the Gate (the only one we've seen) I'd imagine is within a "Great Wall" across the entirety of the "New Continent" with the "Gate Keepers" "living" behind it. On the old world's side I'd imagine it's just like the old world, on the other side, I'd imagine it was like the Dark Continent and the Gate Keepers erected the wall to keep the 2 separate and give them a means to test any wishing to go to the Dark Continent. If they can pass through the New Continent, the Guide will take them to the Dark Continent. If I were Togashi, that would be my mini-arc between the succession war and the Dark Continent Arc. He really likes those bridging mini-arcs after all.

It's a mini Dark Continent. Another island inside of Lake Mobius besides the known world, and due to how far away it is from our world (after all sea life gets much more dangerous the further we travel) we can safely assume that the life there is on a much bigger level of size and power than the flora and fauna we know. But due to it not actually being a part of the Dark Continent it isn't nearly as dangerous as the real thing. If the map that we saw was accurate, the New Continent is bigger than the known world, but not that much (it's still comfortably bigger but the difference isn't colossal) Since the Kakin Empire is being planned to be dropped off there while the rest continues the voyage, i assume that the Guide and Gatekeeper aren't on there, since it would be risky to just leave Kakin on the same place where they could find a way to the Dark Continent. I think the Gatekeeper is on the border between our world and the shoreline of the Dark Continent, or at least the border between the part of the ocean that we're on and the part of the ocean that's impossible for us to cross, that might've been explicitly said but i'm not entirely sure. Either way, it makes sense

The five calamities give me goosebumps especially the human pet monster. I also notice that Togashi drawings can sometimes give me the same vibe as Junji Ito art works especially when drawing monsters.

Always liked to imagine the cimera ants were just the ants of the dark continent, is in whatever else is there is unimaginably strong

The Dark Continent from HxH Actually exists in the real world, But it's in reverse: the Dark Continent's land Is the ocean of our world. Both vast & mysterious.

Thanks Liam for your great work in researching HXH lore. It really is much appreciated. Cant wait for part 2! I still have so many questions e.g. about the girl-prince who died trying to escape the boat with another girl-price just because they left the boat - like, what was that? Weren't they still in the "human world"? It made a great story but just introduced so many mysteries at once.

I think ive watched/rewatched almost all of your hunter hunter videos... again. Im so hyped for more chapters. Even though the succession war arc is really interesting, im eager for more dark continent info.

I have a hunch that the dark continent is a mirror of the Greed Island but more of an 18+ version. Bigger and more dangerous. It is where Ging get the inspiration to create Greed Island. If you think about it, Greed Island sort of comprise of magical beasts which helps train and help people understand the dangers of living in a world where everyone has nen. Greed Island is a training ground for Dark Continent. We can probably expect similarities between the two but in Dark Continent, beings are more intelligent, places are more chaotic, and what not.

Kinda doubtful togashi is much more creative than trying to do the same arc twice with a slightly different guise. Why would they need an 18+ up version? You can literally die in greed island and anyone playing is already a hunter or powerful nen user (most are already of age anyway) greed island is just giving them extra abilities to use while there. So what would be the point of doing it again with more dangerous things?

Not only that but whenever anyone has returned from the dark continent they bring back a plague or a world ending threat. Not something you’d get from a game. Yes you can make the argument that gon and killua cheated the greed island game by brining out something they weren’t supposed to but I can’t help but think they already knew that was doable whilst making greed island

@@isaacwillis6042 in Greed Island, the objective is to complete a game. It was not really designed to kill one another although it was made possible. In Dark Continent, the objective is to survive. Implying that killing will be part of the journey. That said, it changes the whole dynamic and possible conditions being in Dark Continent which could make for very interesting story lines, not to mention the mind games given how the power scaling is in HxH. It opens up a whole new possibilities that was not explored in Greed Island arc which is, in my opinion, more for the light hearted folks and kids. This is what Im getting by understanding the author. Togashi likes to take time with his story telling. He put bread crumbs leading to where he will bring the story to. And looking to his past work, Yu Yu Hakusho, you can see almost the same pattern with his story telling although now he puts more details.

I still feel like the West "half" of this book is actually the same book as the East "half". Just need to unlock some kind of trick to reading it. Because a mobius strip is basically a never ending circle that loops back on itself. Would seem out of character for Togashi to name the entire lake "Mobius", draw a mobius strip on the Book and then never use that symbol to mean anything. Of course he may be using mobius to represent something else, but I am guessing it is the book itself which then may lead to something special about how to travel the dark continent more safely :)

Thank you for making this recap series, because even though I love HxH there's no way i will read the entirety of this arc again. There's just too much text

the chimera ant is extremely important to set up what the dark continent is all about, those mfs are actually the lowest ranking of predators and may even be a prey in there and hunters barely won mostly because they have experience and ants developing some humanity (in fact, in terms of raw nen they were much larger than the average of a professional hunter) it's probably one of the most exciting thing about HxH, we've seen some powerful users and threats over the course of the anime only to realize those were basically nothing when you compare it to the dark continent

Meruem and the royal guard were beat by a dying old man and a bunch of kids.. and that was with the combination of tons of magical beast( from the dc) and humans combined within then. Frankly they arnt that impressive and i honestly believe besides developing an nen ability they couldnt get much if anh stronger nen aura wise.. and out of the surviving ants i rekon the only ones who can actually develope nen to its potential are kite and the other guy who kept his orginal self intact after all the other ants havnt shown a slight increase in power besides developing there hatsu.. i rekon there will be alot of similar limits to dc creatures. After all of the biggest premises of hxh is limiting yourself for power.

@@ashebull123 Chimera ants were rated C and then got upgraded to B. They were very easy to deal with as Meruem himself was nothing in front of a nuke. Calamities are forces of nature with diseases that cannot be nuked thus giving them an A threat level.

@@voodiethemoody I dont know how you personally judge world building but for me is how solid are the "rules" and in less episodes HxH sets an amazing world with a lot of diversity, giving importance to how different goverment do their thing. Meteor city, the underground world, now Kakin. And the magic system or power system is also a big part of what makes a fictional world great, an Nen is one of the best magic systems out there. Still not fair to compare it with OP because that shit has like a million of chapters and does really great too. But hxh is so inmense that we can't run out of theories and stuffs about it even with the little information we may have in comparison with OP.

One thing I would like in the dark continent arc, is to have Leorio's medical expertise shown. Since I bet that It will be needed in such a dangerous place. I havent finished yet the chimera ant arc on the manga, but still on the way.

A cool theory I have is that Don Freecs is actually already dead but was able to finish Journey to the West. Remember when Mito said to Gon that Ging’s father just disappeared on a fishing trip? Maybe Ging’s dad is actually in the Dark Continent and the on that is finishing Journey to the East.

I keep hearing ppl say they wish gon/killua went along. Idk but I like the fact that they didn’t join in this mission. Kurapika and especially Lerio deserve some screen time to show us their growth. I don’t see the big deal since we know gon and killua will eventually find their way to the dark continent. Imho it will happen after a time skip and they will have to go save Kurapika/Lerio and it will be epic. I am more dissapointed that Silva and Zeno didn’t take part. I can only hope they find their way over. Maybe after the time skip mentioned above they accompany Gon and Killua that would be truly epic!

Gon and killua their current ability they not ready for that kind of environment just yet. I see these two getting stronger than before when they return these two young cubs will grow into full beast. Leorio need some screen time people from communtiy want to see how strong he is gotten. I know he part of the zodiac would like see his growth. There no need for sliva and zeno to take part and killua will follow the footstep of maha father zigg.

I don't think Togashi will go through the cliché route of 'GOn and Killua saving Kurapika and Leorio who are in danger.' It's way too predictable considering Gon is the main character and he would have done it during Yorknew when Kurapika fought Uvo if he wanted to. Not to mention, at the moment at least, Kurapika is stronger than Gon and Killua. It may not be explictly shown, but Kurapika is also a Nen genius, even if maybe a little less talented than the other 2. And if Togashi wanted someone to save them, it definitely wouldn't be Gon or Killua, but maybe Ging or someone like that. Togashi doesn't exactly give his main characters much special treatment.

Gon back at home trying find goal what he want to. Killua traveling with sistet around the world also doing training with his nen. They will be better once they return but the focus is swift to Kurapika and Leorio

If you look closely at the victim of Halbell (it’s a detached hand in a tube) it’s power isn’t actually to inflict humans with homicidal desire it’s to inflict any part of one’s body with homicidal desire. The hand itself looks to have come alive and attacked it’s owner. So it could most literally turn your entire body against you

Personal theory (extracted from some lucid dream a decade ago): Don Freecs never finished the 2nd Edition of his book because he "sampled" Nitro Rice, reverted to his near-infantile state, and was soon after found by Netero and crew during his exploration of the Continent. He took the infant and later handed him to one of his trusted Zodiac members (re: dropped him in his lap), calling him Gon Freecs, knowing his identity from his abandoned exploration equipment, and Jing renaming him to at least hide his true identity, explaining to Mito that Gon was his "son". Explaining it this way fills a lot of questions I have about his origins and his somewhat "distant" relationship with Jing.

In itself, the Dark Continent can only disappoint us if it is shown to us. We've seen what ridiculous ants from this continent can do. What can people do when they have to fight many other and of course much more powerful beings there? Our thoughts and fantasies have probably influenced us so much by now that it doesn't matter what Togashi ever shows from there, the horrors in our heads surpass. I'm not surprised that he hasn't continued to work on his work for so long.

We saw what the ants could do as an invasive species that learned nen from humans thanks to Pitou. I think like all invasive species in real life the ants are unable to reach anywhere near the level they had in the Chimera Ant arc when on the dark continent, and are just pests to the more dangerous things around them. The queen had to eat a ridiculous amount of animals and people to eventually get Meruem. I'm sure that the Chimera ants like real ants are constantly annihilating themselves before anything like that could exist there.

I wouldn't say that, Toriko did this same troupe and executed it perfectly. The threats we knew in the human world were pale in comparison to the bigger world (In toriko it's the gournet world). Everything is scaled to insane proportions and the monsters there look sinister. HxH has the 5 threats and toriko has the 8 kings. The 8 kings are disgustingly broken monsters that rule a portion of the continent and their feats are jaw dropping. Every HxH fan needs to read this and I'm gonna keep preaching it.

I find the premise of the "Succession War" to be a good one but inherently flawed as, if the last 2 contestants somehow manage to attain a mutual kill against the other, then it renders the entire thing a moot point as All the princes are now dead; making it so there is no inherent ruler to the kingdom.

Therefore, lets just imagine that he is in need to use the chain on some kind of a creature over there. That’s it for him .... he is just going to fall down because his heart would be destroyed.

Im pretty sure the rules to Kurapikas Chain is he cannot use Chain Jail on anyone who is not Phantom Troupe. He can use all of his other abilities on anything

Im pretty sure the point was you couldnt or that would be a pretty lame power. Think about it you could say "I must beat this one opponent or I die" and become super strong for one fight then turn it off once the fight finishes. If that were the case everyone would do it.

The dark continent is based off the real world map. The map should really be upside down Antarctica is ring surrounding us with other landmasses outside of the ring. I hope somebody sees my comment. Lol

The dark continent may be one of the most fascinating places in all of fiction for me. The sheer terror that we know and don't know is just unconfortable. It's a place humans should have no business with. There are regular chimera ants in the human world that are very aggressive and I like thought that the chimera ants we met in the arc are just mere insignificant creatures on the dark continent. Meruem who killed humanities strongest human would just be a tiny insignificant creature for the strongest creatures on the dark continent. The best adjective I have for dark continent is lovecraftian. My fan theory is that the human realm we know since chapter 1 is just a tiny project, a time killer for some bored god or lifeform on the dark continent.

Given that it is thought that the DC was inspired by the GW (although, the known world being a small part of the larger world is a common trope in general in literature and manga specifically), do you think some elements of Toriko would inspire or force changes for the future of HxH?

This is legitimately what I thought, I never read the manga but I'm so sad that they ended the anime before the Gourmet World, it's so mysterious and cool.

nah, the threat level is based on threat to end humanity, so even a hyper powerful being is only a 'b' because they were able to take it out with the rose bomb. I remember they classify a large country as an 'a' threat, but I assume that is because they could fire all their weapons and even firing back isn't going to stop the destruction. if the bomb didn't work then I suppose meruem would be level A but the fact that a bomb does work means he is only b.

What if the humans in the 'known world' (the islands in lake Mobius) came originally from the Dark Continent? The idea is that there are different tribes (or even civilizations) of humans living in the Dark Continent. A few thousand years ago a group of humans moved to the islands in lake Mobius in order to isolate themselves from the harshness of the Dark Continent. That group of humans are the ancestors of the current population in the known world. Humans in the Dark Continent needed Nen to survive. For the humans in the islands in lake Mobius, Nen use became less and less necessary because the islands are 'relatively safe' (compared to the harshness of the Dark Continent) so the knowledge of Nen became less and less common.

Time different in the dark continent b/c all life is practically important in the dark continent due to the highly nutritious vegetation and highly advanced/enhances life on the dark continent, the vegetation in the dark continent has evolved to be supper powered compared to the plant life in the human world, meaning that even eating these plants may take some serious power and strength and they are advanced to the point that they can use aura, this unique flora in term have made the fauna advanced to in genetics, prolonging the lifespans and the actual perception of time, in order to survive the dark continent you would have to sync with this unique warped perception if time, if not you would be destroyed by the advanced life, remember when NETERO trained in the mountains and said his perception of time got away from his while doing his million punches thing, to the point he spent 50 years up there, well he actually started that training b/c he learned of it in the dark continent and wanted to be ready to return one day, so he dedicated himself to mastering this technique, idk if he ever returned to the dark continent tho... but that’s why the freekz guy who is writing the other book is still alive, most of the stuff mentioned to be from the dark continent are actually misunderstood events relating to aura, the mysterious energy that all life forms have evolved to be able to manipulate, it’s just the secrets of aura are far more complex then anyone really knows, the origin of this aura is supper relevant tho, as the human world has only a surface taste of its deep flavors, imagine how the gas creature who grant wishes actually attained that ability? How did they evolve to become as they are, or are they the conjuring of another creature? They are actually parasites!!!! Living off hosts and are passed down by offspring, they are not the only ones either, cimara ants live on the dark continent and they pretty much rule certain parts of it, but they are much stronger and diverse then the ones that got into the human world or rather they where brought to the human world by Gyro, that’s why they where found in the NGL, cut off from other countries so the secret councils hired hunters to investigate cous they where suspicious of such beans being manipulated, after discovering what they did they got netero to eliminate the ants, and also grew suspicious as to how they got into the human world, so the Expedition is really a means to either conquering the dark continent for the sake of humanity or learning a way to counter it if possible, b/c what the first expedition to the dark continent actually did was compromise humanity and we have just been trying to keep the monsters at bay this whole time but that barrier of protection is beginning to wain as our 2 world are becoming 1, so this expedition is vital and a true priority. Kurapica will learn the origins of his people and unlock the secrets of his eyes, which will teach his secrets about aura and ways to advance his nen, just wait this will blow everyone’s mind yall

Do they have satellite technology in Hunter X Hunter? I usually assume if a fictional world has some long-distance communication technologies (e.g. internet, tv broadcast, telephony, etc.) and some space-related technologies (e.g. telescopes), they likely have satellite technology too. It doesn't seem to be the case for Hunter X Hunter since if they have satellite tech, they can simply use those to observe the Dark Continent.

@@Ryuksgelus What chapter did Knuckle mention anything about rocket ships? I did find some reference to GPS (a phone with GPS) in Chapter 71. If they don't have satellites, that 'GPS' is probably not like the GPS we have. It's probably some positioning system that relies on towers (or maybe on blimps) and not on satellites.

@@rentristandelacruz in more recent chapters there seems to be a technological jump, bunch of internet parodies are mentioned.

I imagine that the Dark Continent might be a place similar in threat level to the Eclipse where the God Hand exists from Berserk, but with a mix of many organic biomes. I can only imagine it having demonic looking colossal beats and bizzare anomalies in biomes like Forests, deserts, lakes, valleys, mountains. Imagine the ruins that one calamity was made to protect, ruins with alien-like build structure and hidden secrets that could either make or break humanity. Togashi has his work cut out for him here. He's on a level akin to the latr Kintaro Muira. The scale of imagination he fueled through writing about this place sounds like something even he won't get to finish uncovering before he meets a fate all HxH fans fear.

I didn't read manga till I watched the whole 2011 anime and I froze in happiness when I knew how massive the world of my favorites story is, to think that the writer planned the whole thing even before the Ant Arc gives me confidence that we are in for a wild ride

Gon could be a calamity from the dark content because of Don. Gon doesn’t have a mother and his calamity could be his strength. Idk tho just a little theory.

That could be a reason Gon and Killua comes back to the story. The same Royal Gaurds that could go up and casually defeat powerful pro hunters like Knuckle, Morel, Shoot, Kite and Knov were utterly terrified by these 2 and their abilities/potential. They could be calamities just because of their bloodline. Hell Pitou was straight up horrified at the thought that Gon could fucking kill Meruem.

@@dajuanwhitaker1785 killua is a white haired zoldyc, we know why he is so powerful, gon is the father of ging but his rushed suit form (weaker then his prime) could take on meruem. We don’t know gons mother and that could be the calamity from don. Don is also probably insanely powerful he’s been in the dark content for years and is most probably still alive.

Ngl your videos are the best. You have a great voice for explaining animes and it's very knowledgeable.

Sounds like a place where all the monsters from the mist would come from
