Danny Thomas was a Lebanese man from Toledo, Ohio. Or as Jack Benny quipped, "If we are going to admit a gentile to the Hillcrest Country Club, we should have chosen someone who doesn't look Jewish." Sheldon Leonard: producer and Nick the bartender. "Out you pixies go!"

I didn't like Danny Thomas' character as a kid.. and I like it even less now as a senior.

I'm a senior (72) and I think I realize why you do not like the Thomas character. He does come off as a chest-beating dominating chauvinist as this was the male zeitgeist at the time. His attitude is extremely dated but the one thing you can say is he fiercely loved his wife and children and his character was willing to help others when/if he was called upon to do so. Just my opinion though.

@@AnitaMariaWhite That is very astute.. I too am 72 and we both have viewed the character as children as well as seniors. In retrospect, I now see that his character (not Danny Thomas himself) was meant to be a parody of the overbearing men of the day. I think the Honeymooners and the Flintstones were written along the same premise. A loud but gentle giant.
