I can laugh about it now, but at the time it was terrible. The third band he was in was the Glove. Side project with Steve Severin of the Banshees whilst Siouxise and Budgie were off being the Creatures.

Same thing happened to me in the late 80s. Grew a quiff , wore a hearing aid and stole all my grandad’s cardigans. My parents constantly nagged me for an explanation 🙄 On the one night a year that I left the house, my friend at the vegetarian anti-vivisection society gala dinner encouraged me to tell them the truth. He was right. I hastily made my way back entered the living room and through blinding tears looked them straight in the feet and blubbered, “I am human and I need to be loved…just like everybody else does” “How soon is now?”, asked Mummy.

I saw The Smiths in 1986 and, I swear, it was every bit as violent as the Slayer show I saw the next year. It was General Admission and you had all these crazy, obsessive Smiths fanatics ready to kill each other for spots closer to the stage. One girl got cut so badly you could see the tendons in her arm. I remember this sad, sexually ambiguous guy in a priest's get up with a collar. And a whole row of crying girls during That Joke isn't Funny Anymore. It was one of my favorite nights of the whole 80s; Morrissey said to the crowd, "I hope you know you're missing Benson for this", and I'm so glad I did!
@smartalec88556 жыл бұрын

“Sometimes I can hear him crying when he’s listening to them” I just know my mother was like this lmfaooo
Very funny, and kind of true. That exact thing happened to me and a lot of other people I know. But then again, when you have the Smiths you really don't need anything or anyone else. Except a bedroom. P.S. Louder than bombs, greatest album ever.
