Here, we try to look into the dangerous side of Tom Cruise's charisma. Tom Cruise is known as one of the most charismatic celebrities in Hollywood. When Rolling Stone writer and author Neil Strauss met him, he described him as “the perfect specimen” who has “a natural ability to remain dominant in any social situation without seeming to exert any effort.”
As amazing as that sounds, that kind of superhuman charisma does have a dangerous downside. And it’s both of those things that we’re going to explore in this video: the specific behaviors that make Tom Cruise such a dominant social force. And the potential cost of being so charismatic. Below are the ones that make him so charismatic.
0:36 Tom Cruise commands his physical space as in The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon
2:20 He genuinely smiles all the time and with other celebrities
2:53 He mentions the name of the person he's talking to as in this NBC interview
3:37 Tom Cruise keeps eye contact and in Oprah as well
4:28 His talent in conversation also shows when he leans in when talking

My dad does something similar to Tom with his absolute belief, but my dad does it arrogantly, his views are rock solid, he doesn’t believe he is right, he thinks that what ever he believes is right. This small difference makes my dad seem like an arrogant ass, his view or no view, his way or no way. Tom doesn’t force his views on others, he talks about how it is to him, not how it is period. My dad also almost never changes his beliefs, no matter how flimsy his reasons are and how solid the reasons of his opposition are. He simply has this ‘I’m always right’ attitude and it makes it impossible to work with him if he has a different answer to a problem than you do.

I found what you said about charismatic conviction and its contradiction between being open to change absolutely fascinating. You worded it very well. Unfortunately I would hasten to say that the majority do side based on someones conviction alone rather than facts. I would like to see your opinions on the "positives" that come with being more open minded to change and being wrong sometimes. It seems to be a lost art now to have humility.

Tom Cruise is a decent honest person it shows. When your that honest you can be as charismatic as you want there is no danger in being yourself, there is only danger in not being yourself & and not being true to yourself.

I was an extra on Tarzan. It was lunch and we had queued up at the hot plate out on the lot. Tom came round speaking to the extras and looking at the set up (he was about to do a film and assume looking on what companies to use). He stood in the queue rather than go to the VIP area in the main building. Got his food and literally sat in the dirt with us Belgian soldiers. He chatted, asked questions but nothing about filming other than "do you get treated ok" To me he was genuinely a good man.

I think it probably is a challenge to live a "normal" life as a super famous actor or artist. Tom has an ability to speak to any person in a room and it seems like he is genuinly a good man, so when given the opportunity to interract and talk to people like normal he will take it. He wants to live life to it's fullest and you don't do so by only sticking to the same kind of people all the time. Hanging out with extras is a great way for him to have a normal conversation as it is quite litterally close to his workplace.

I don’t understand why some people have so much resentment towards him. Everything he says makes sense to me. I understand why he gets pissed off in those situations and I understand when he’s excited and acts crazy. He doesn’t confine his emotions and pretend to be something he’s not. What you see is what you get! Everyone I know who’s ever met him, tells me he’s a super empathetic and genuine person. Even towards strangers. He’s always been a role of inspiration on so many levels. He’s a doer and a go getter. He does most if not all of his own stunts. He’s incredibly professional, in fantastic shape for his age and hard working with no ego whatsoever. He’s movies are great! And he’s bloody success really talks for itself. But at the end of the day - he’s also a human being. And with that one vulnerable life, he’s managed to achieve more than most of us ever will. Have some respect. If you judge him - it really says more about you than him.

I think human touch is important for building connection in most cases. I don’t necessarily see it as a sexual thing; although it can be, but so could eye contact i’d argue. Just touching someone’s back and asking them to do something for you is a way to help soften your favor for them as opposed to making it seem like a demand. Most importantly, it’s the way you touch. You also need to make sure to look at them in the eyes, and not to dart yours around, making yourself reveal your nervousness. If you feel nervous while touching somebody, then yes, you’re going to make them feel creeped out. They may not say so but they are.

How would we be able to separate his work from who he is? People think Tom is intense but he’s not as intense as my Grandfather was or my son Gunner. However Tom wants loyalty in unreasonable ways. Cutting my ex out of pictures like my children did to pictures of me with them that were sent to them when I no longer had custody when they were 4, 6, 8 is ridiculous. If I ever see Will Ferrell I will fan girl up because of his Ricky Bobby, but also because he’s a comedic giant. The irony is there would be no Ricky Bobby without Days of Thunder in the first place. It’s misplaced jealousy. I don’t always want to know what Tom Cruise did last night or that he probably flew to FL and is there today.

Tom Cruise is the embodiment of what people mean when they say that someone has “movie star genetics”. He’s able too get into shape and look amazing as soon as one of his roles needs him too, even at the age of 60. He’s got great looks, with no physical features that would be considered as ugly or off putting. And he looks like he could be in his mid to late 40s despite being over a decade older than 49. If it was confirmed that a famous person was actually a robot or an alien in disguise but they won’t tell us who it is then I would definitely guess Tom Cruise because he’s literally the closest thing the being a perfect human in terms of physicality

What really lets this channel stick out of all the other "life advice / charisma" channels is the summary in the decriptions. I can't thank you enough for doing that, because by that, once you have finished a new video, you can quickly come back to an older topic video and quickly remind yourself what were the key points of it or just jump to the position in the video you wanted to. This is not valued enough. Particularly for hard to grasp topics and long videos (like they are the normality in this genre on YT) this is almost obligatory! THANK YOU!

She doesn't do the WEB much, she's more old school than I am, and I am older, sixty five. What kind of drives me crazy about TV news is they blurt out some headline and show a minute of footage, then they're done, you're just let there hanging. You really have to fill in a lot of gaps. Then they'll say that's all they got for now, and will let you know more later. Of which almost never occurs. Besides making room for Ads I think they're scared to death of getting sued.

Tom Cruise can be a good example of how sociopaths can be, not saying he is though, not at all, but he doesn't exhibit any sign of introspecton and openness, I feel like he would not be very charismatic to me in the sense of me trying to be that much in his company, he would exhaust me with superficiality, I would need some genuine warmth from a someone. It is a stereotype that this is the ideal charisma, I prefer almost the opposite as a charisma, for me who is more charismatic and genuine from celebrities outside of the film screen is for example Sean Connery, Jeff Bridges, Meg Tilly, Sean Young, Richard Gere, Chuck Norris, Kurt Russell or Ed Harris. Ironically usually not mega big stars.

I have dated a man like Tom Cruise minus the exorbitant amounts of money & fame. He was extremely charming & charismatic, good looking, & successful. I knew him for years as my friend, coworker, & mentor before we ever started dating. Once I was spending all this time with him day in & day out, I saw the terrible come out of him. He was extremely controlling, unpredictable, & empty. He put on this Mr. Do-gooder persona to all the people he comes in contact with every day. he was extremely well liked in out community. he was known as "the helpful guy". He would come fix your car, put up your fence, & babysit your kids. But when we were behind closed doors, & no one else was around, be became a completely different person. He could go from being a warm & loving person to being cold & abusive in seconds. I was afraid to even speak out against him in any way, or even have a different option than him or else I would be berated & violently yelled at for 45 minutes or more. These people are truly chilling. I got out of there eventually & ran far far away.

They have the superficial charm and are always in performance. Cluster B is also called the "drama cluster", because they love drama and which is perfect for him as an actor and these people act all the time. Phillip1310 But while religion created bad people, it also help create good people. for example Matin Luther King .jr, he was a baptist minister and he headed the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. How about Abraham Lincoln, who grew up in a highly religious Baptist family. How about Mahatma Gandhi who is a Hindu. There are more people who grew up with religion and turn out to be good people, religion is not the cause, the extremists are.

It’s easy to appear confident when you believe you’re dealing in absolutes.

A clear and clever analysis of a person who has studied and applies learnt behaviour to win people over. Subtext and subliminal messages and gestures. And along with his passion and conviction to scientology is SCARY.

I don't know if it is intentional but you consistently come back to one major character trait and that is keeping to your own values. By doing this I think you are probably giving the best advice you can give someone who might need advice when it comes to interacting with other people. Too many times people think that they have to act a certain way or do a certain thing to get people to like them and while that may work superficially, at best you end up with friends you only mildly get along with. On the other hand if you pick values you think are important and stick to them through thick and thin, with the caveat of taking constructive criticism, you may not make as many superficial friends but you will have the benefit of friends that you can be the real you around. Basically I am saying I really like your videos and I hope you can keep going strong for years to come helping those that need it. I am thinking of showing some of my soldiers these videos in hopes of them leading happier lives outside of the military.

Yeah, I actually try to keep things fresh but I can't help but come back to the values thing. It is at the core of all different types of charisma so even though it may get repetitive, I feel like it can't be ignored!

Yes. But the sheer fact you can see that makes you in the minority. Most people can't pin down what it is.

Alejandra Rosales How does someone get away with it for so long. Damn. I think he has bought into his own act and believes in it completely. It's a religion of self.

I have been told I smile too much, but if it's good for Cruise and I add expansiveness to it, it might work for me. Thanks for the tip.
