    Can you guys make this into an official series? Don't buy *X* before watching this I know years back one was done for wheels and tires. But I think this could make a good series. Ex. Don't buy Air bags before watching this. And you'd give out more into that really isn't talked about when owning air bags. Edit: I even posted a comment way back when the coilovers video dropped.

    Each tyre manufacturer has recommended width max and min to fit a tyre, this allows for more than enough safe stretch. The biggest issue is under inflation, you need to run higher pressures to stiffen the sidewall and check it regularly.

    I can understand a mild stretch, either for the look or for fitment of it will prevent rubbing - personally though, I'm a function over form person, but good form + function is 👌 That said, I laugh my ass off when people think they can street race or road rally something with rubber bands on it. You WILL de-bead that tire, it's just a matter of when and where.

    I bought a car with streched tires. After a while those tires became distorted. Recently I borrowed some wheels with streched tires and they also began to vibrate so I assume theyre a goner too. A guy at a tire shop told me that streching them does in fact lead to possible damage. Maybe youre not supposed to ride them hard, I dont know. I feel that kind of tires dont like hard cornering. Also if you hit a small bump at higher speed there is no cushioning effect. Instead you hit it hard with your rims 😱 Theyre for show, not for spirited driving I guess.

    I read on a racing forum once that a small amount of stretch can assist with tyre flexion when cornering at high speeds. How true this is I’m not sure, it could just be an excuse to justify having stretch though it did specify only a small amount of stretch, not the kind of stretch seen in the “stance” scene.

    Slightly stretched with normal camber is one thing; you retain the contact patch on the tread and evenly distribute stress to both sidewalls. Stretch with extreme camber? Your contact patch is the inner corner of the tread (about as wide as a bicycle tire), and you put all the stress on the inner sidewall, almost a guaranteed de-bead unless you run like 125 psi. If you wanna run the latter setup and wreck your wheels and car when a de-bead almost inevitably happens, more power to you, but do so off public roadways, lest you lose control and kill innocent motorist etc.

    I don’t really mind stretch so long as it’s not done to the extreme. Same goes for camber, I like camber that is functional for grip purposes not for looks

    Adding Camber is tilting the wheels OUT at the top, so that's almost never done for "grip purposes". However it's debatable if there is any suspension changes that you can make to compensate for the degradation you've made when you stretch your tires.

    I've seen these, IMO, it looks like someone bought some used rims cheap so they mounted their stock tires because they can't afford the right ones, stupid looking trend like giant rims and tires on a Caprice or a gasser with the front end up and a lift kit.

  • @seyoch
    @seyoch3 жыл бұрын

    Smaller tires having less grip is not entirely true...a bigger contact patch will just divide the force over a bigger area, cancelling the change in grip out. The real reason you want to have wider tires in a performance car is: 1, getting rid of the temperature in the tire more easily (and therefor the tyre lasts longer in a healthier state) and 2, when you corner hard, a stretched tire is starting to run on its sidewalls... which you don't want.

    I recommend you to buy a portable air pump like the AIRHAWK,and check your tire PSI atleast every 2 weeks (or if lazy,do every month) with that combo stick to 40 PSi. They only have high risk to de-bead if PSi is low (around under 30 psi) while doing a hard turn. Im on 235/35 on my 9.5 but i still check my PSi every month.all tires even a stock set-up will lose air eventually due to heat/cold weather and driving habbits.

    @@AyoBrandoh it wont lose air that quick,but it will eventually.so if it goes under 30 psi or reach 20 psi,then thats the trouble that it will de-bead when you turn even with a decent speed. But 225 is a lil safe for 9.5
