The danger of being in a CHURCH with CULT LIKE Tendencies *STORY TIME*

I left a church I’d been serving in for 8 years after God opened my eyes.
In no way is this video a bash at any ministry. I simply believe the Lord wants His children to know Him on a personal level through spending quality time with Him and not just through what they are taught by their spiritual leader. The end times we are in requires us all to really know and hear the voice of God for ourselves so that we are not deceived and led astray. I honour and respect the grace and anointing of God on men and women of God but it should never be that one becomes so dependent on their man/woman of God that they become more important in their lives than God Himself.
God wants to deliver His people out of deception, heal and restore them back into His loving arms.
John 10:27 - My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me

They never rest... Always busy, no time to reflect on yourself and meditate on God's word for yourself.

And if someone needs a break from serving to settle down a bit or recover from emotional/mental damage they can be demonised or personally attacked before others lest ‘the others’ come under their evil influence!

Well, although you are encouraged to read God's Word, we are taught we cannot get God by ourselves, we have to be connected to our Leader.

I'm so glad that you have brought this topic to light: i use to call a certain call center and they seem to be previously well balance between the fruit of the Spirit and the gifts of the Spirit. But just in the last 2-3 years they have disdain the gifts of the Spirit and have gone from admonishing their pastor to actually idealizing him as if was incapable of doing anything wrong! I have respect for this brother but i see him as a vessel of the wonderful things that God is doing in and through him,. Thisi s what i'm reminded of when i head this timely message because the Bible does tell us to highly esteem those that are over us in the church but never do we act like they are just ideal and neither does he have the final word but instead we allow the word of God have the final word! Amen!!

And a very important point you brought out is not being able to hear the voice of the Lord under this type of church. The Pastor's voice and vision take precedent over the Lord. It sabotaged your self worth and value. I'm glad you got out, I'm glad I got out

This video strongly resonates with me as someone who experienced similar things though for just 1 year at a Church I willingly volunteered to help serve with their worship team for a duration of 12 months.

This really resonates with me. I completely agree with you, and I'm grateful for the courage you've shown by sharing this. I attended a church that had a similar culture, where there was more fear of man than fear of God. I hope others are freed from this.

I've had a very similar experience to you. I live in Sydney, Australia and there is a church that I went to for 6 months. I only realised after the fact when I left hoiw unhealthy it was.

I attend a church where I feel I’m not being fed spiritually most of the time. I been attending for about 40 years and nothing new is being preached. To tell the truth I only attend it because of peer pressure from my family. I’m getting much more fed on KZread. Another reason I’m not leaving is because I don’t see a church that doesn’t teach false doctrine. Pray for me

The title of this video made me watch it, because i got the same revelation that the church was attending was like a cult. it had same characteristics you pointed out. Pray and seek the Lord before joining any church.

I think this is a really good video that explains what it is like to be in a cult church. I can certainly relate to many of the points that you made and these points form part of the reasons why I left my former church. Overall, I find your video to be very insightful because you give realistic examples of what happens in these cult churches and the emotional pressures that a person can face in them.

Blessings Ms. Channelle, I’m very sorry to hear about your painful experience with the church. However, I have a few questions regarding this video. How can you distinguish whether it was the voice of God speaking to you and not the influence of your personal pain? If so, what scripture did God give you to confirm it was Him speaking? As Christians, we all know that the safest place to hear from God is through His word. Having studied the Word of God and been a student of Christianity for over 20 years, I’ve never seen in scripture or ministry where God inspires a person to encourage others to leave a church. God is focused on building the church. If this is truly the voice of God, why not name the church, pastor, and location? God is not a man and does not hide. Please don’t think I’m dismissing your pain; however, I believe this is your personal pain, emotions, and experience, not the voice of God. I’d love to hear your response to my questions. God bless you dearly, and thank you for being brave.

Thank you for your question. Sure, I can confirm it was the Lord speaking to me because I had started to discern the voice of the Lord for myself after spending more time with Him in the secret place. When I would go to service some of the things I heard and saw did not sit right in my spirit and the more I tried to ignore it the more stronger it became. Honestly, I was finding it hard as to whether it was really God telling me to leave because of what I had been taught to think similar to your thoughts. But this is why I went deeper into prayer and asked God for answers to the questions I had. I remember asking God 2 main questions 1. “Why would you be telling me to leave a church that seems like revival is happening?” 2. “But God they have a good choir, organisation is on point, everything looks good why would You tell me to leave?”. God replied me with two things. 1. I can use anything to get my job done and He reminded me of (Numbers 22:28) 2. Don’t look at those things (regarding the 2nd question I asked) I know it was God because at this point I had learnt to discern Gods voice again and what He said wasn’t something I would have said myself because despite the wrestle in my spirit I still liked the church. When I heard from the Lord concerning me leaving, there was a peace in my spirit that’s also how I know it was God because before that I had been very restless in my spirit whenever I went to the church services and whenever I prayed/interceded for the church and the leadership (like I mention in the video). For other people they may have just walked away as soon as they felt like something was off which is also ok but for me I REALLY wanted to hear from God to completely make sure it was His Will for me to leave and when I did hear from Him I was at peace. Remember Gods gifts are without repentance (Romans 29:11). Believe it or not God can still allow a man who - knows the word of God, practices Christianity but has decided for whatever reason to dabble in other things to win the souls of those He needs saved. God will be the one to judge those in leadership in the end which is why I don’t have to mention names at all. God is very merciful and patient and He’ll allow them do what they do for some time BUT what God doesn’t want is for His genuine people to STAY in systems that will in the long run lead them AWAY from Him to a point where they cannot discern His voice for themselves. It becomes idolatry when people heed to the voice of another person over Himself. God is calling His people back to Himself. I was led to speak and shed light on the dangerous and diabolical systems that do Gods people more harm than good. I was there for 8 years and when Abba opened my eyes, He showed me how much the enemy uses these systems to steal His people’s time, destinies and most of all lead them away from a personal relationship with Him. Church itself is not the problem but sometimes the leaders are what make some of them dangerous. I absolutely love church and I never stopped going to church by the grace of God. It’s important to remember that not every exposure of something happening in the body of Christ is destroying the Church Sir. You already know how Apostle Paul in the Bible called out falsehood and behaviours in certain churches that we should be aware of because it would lead people into deception and essentially away from God. Me leaving that particular church was not out of pain Sir. I was not in pain about anything there. When you have enough time to spend with God yourself, He shows you things and builds your discernment to a point where you will know when something is not sitting right in your spirit. I’d like to add that there ARE many good churches and great and anointed men and women of God leading churches, leaving one church doesn’t mean you have stopped being a believer. God can, Will and IS still speaking to the hearts of His people about their current church, whether to stay or whether to leave, it’s whether His people are able to hear from Him personally and also OBEY Him.
