    Tilde White: Me, too. I was just recalling this incident to my 75-yr old Mom & she was horrified! She didn’t know about it. It’s a no-win. If you do what’s wrong, i.e. Run when you see the cops, they shoot you & the public says, “He shouldn’t have tried to run”. If you give them your concealed carry permit & tell them you’re armed, they’ll ask for your ID & when you try to comply, they’ll shoot you multiple times with a child right behind you. The officer feared for his life because you were complying with his demand. No-Win. Ppl like hannity have no clue & don’t want to get one. 🌈

    @@shitposteriori5247 It got much, much worse. Here in my country, the Army had a traffic block in Rio just last month, and they shot more than 80 times at a family car, killing a black musician with more than 15 bullets. There were children and old ladies in the car, nobody was armed. It's been over a year that lesbian black councilwoman Marielle Franco was executed near downtown Rio, by paramilitary groups linked to the police, and probably to the guys now running the country. Jon did everything he could to make people aware of the dark path we were heading, when we normalized Fox News' bullshit. I'm sure many of us tried to do our part and made other people aware, and expressed our indignation at every turn, but the scaremongers still won. For now, at least.

    i love how people who obviously arent black nor a minority of color have sooooooo much to say about how it is to be non white in this country. petty theft does not equate to being shot twice in the head. no one deserves that no matter what race. as a black male living in this country ive been racially profiled by cops and its demoralizing that i cant even make it home from work in uniform without being hassled because i look like i may be in a gang. you can never imagine the anger that builds inside of you when you know youre being judged by something as stupid as the color of your skin which you have no control over.

    SHUTTERSHOT45 strong armed robbery that the officer did not know about? lethal force should not be option a for a scuffle. why are cops supplied with tasers, pepper spray, clubs, pellets?? for decoration? for shits and giggles? this kid is dead while the asshole who shot up a movie theatre is apprehended? i know these are all isolated incidents but that is usually the outcome nowadays and its sickening.

  • @SHUTTERSHOT45

    dlee4she It doesn't matter if the cop knew about the robbery, this is the type of behavior that put him in this situation in the first place. I know plenty of people that did dumb shit and wound up dead because of it. Did they deserve it? No, not at all. You don't have to be black to know that wresting with a cop can and will get you killed. They didn't shoot the kid at the movie theater because he was not agreeing when they approached him, he was just sitting there. So you can't compare the two. But since you wanna pull the race care just look up Dillon Taylor, a white kid shot and killed by a black cop the same week as Michael Brown and he wasn't even aggressing.... Hmmmmm... I didn't hear any outrage from you and Jon Stewart about that story..... And if you think this cop will see one day in jail your fooling yourself.... he followed protocol, if you want justice then focus on getting the actual laws change on all this excessive force that the police are legally aloud to perform.

  • @dlee4she

    @dlee4she

    SHUTTERSHOT45 first i didnt pull a "race card", im simply stating how it is for an african american male like myself living in america. reverse racism exist as well in this country and that shouldnt be overlooked either but lets not kid ourselves here, the point jon was trying to make is that shyt like this happens all the time. you say people do dumb shit but completely negated the fact that i was harassed and profiled for being black. i did nothing wrong. i was simply driving home from work doing the speed limit not blasting music not doing anything suspicious and i get pulled over because i look like a certain type. this came out of this officers mouth and this is only one incident im speaking of. did dillon taylor deserve to die, no of course not and his life is equally valued but every black male in america feels like a potential michael brown and its sad.

  • @SHUTTERSHOT45

    @SHUTTERSHOT45

    10 жыл бұрын

    dlee4she "reverse racism" is a made up term that makes no sense at all... racism is racism, it doesn't apply to a selective group of races... and for the most part blacks get the shit end of the stick when it comes to the justice system, but that means the system has to change. But everyone feels the effects of this unjust system. I drove across country when I moved from NYC to L.A. and was pulled over and put in the back of an unmarked S.U.V. and was questioned because I "looked like a drug smuggler", which I wasn't.... So Jon Stewart can bitch and moan about Fox news and white america all he wants, it won't change anything.

    All those facts are irrelevant to the point made here. Cops aren't allowed to murder unless it's the last resort regardless of what happened earlier. Cops are NOT suppose to play judge, jury, and executioner. What if a cop comes up to you and used a taser on you because you jaywalked a few hours earlier? Why must the victim be innocent at all? A murdered prostitute is no less murdered than a murdered priest, one is an upstanding time honored profession, and the other is a pedophile who believes in the divine, but both would be murder either way. The fact you think otherwise proves only something about yourself.

His skin pigmentation has no bearing on his ugly character or the nasty choices he made that day. Jon had his opinions and spoke honestly, but he always knew he and the show itself was satire, a joke. To be heard and talked about, but not truly taken as seriously as journalism SHOULD. The whole schtick was, "Why am I, a FUCKING COMIC, only noticing this!?" It was always the through-line, every single time. Trevor has lost the plot and really thinks he's deeply important, changing the world, and the Daily Show is his soapbox...not that the Daily Show is essentially a satirical meta inside joke. He and John Oliver take themselves very seriously, it's very disappointing IMO.

    This clip deserves an Academy Award for it's pertinence, truthful comment and well written and expertly performed satire of a news report with common sense as its premise and truth as its content. I watch it at least once a week to remind myself of how far the mainstream media has gone into the pockets of corporate owners and their agendas and why the Daily Show became the gold standard of journalism even though it was intended to be a comedy show. The funny part, or serious part depending on how you look at things, is that they use actual film of real "reporters" and politicians and experts saying some of the most ridiculous, stupid, idiotic crap I ever heard. It also illustrates why there needs to be a law or regulation against networks like Fox News to cease and desist calling themselves a news station or misrepresenting the facts of a story while pretending to be journalists. Stewart is more real and pertinent than ANY other news reporters or anchors, especially the folks at Fox under right wing dissonant and traitor, Rupert Murdoch. The Daily Show illustrates how bad things have gotten between the PC culture and the "Lie to your face, evangelical brainwashing corporate representing scum" they call journalists at Fox News. Long Live John Stewart!

I know that i now sound like i am calling everybody in the US racists, but that is not what i am trying to say. Shit like this still happens! As i said, i live in the Netherlands and, i don't care what the US may say, i think that in the Netherlands we have it better on most areas, including racial issues.But i will never say that we are not racist, because in Europe, including the Netherlands, we are redicilously, yes stupidly, bias against the Islam. I cannot give reasons for this, since i also believe that there is no excuse for racism. But since in the 'Western World', where we are so incredibly proud of our 'freedom', and our amazing communities and culture, we still cannot face the fact that we are a bunch of racist ***holes. Then one day he came to me and said "If I don't wear clothes cops won't think i have a weapon. Should I try?" As a brother I was heartbroken my own little brother was pushed to this kind of thinking. It's hard being a black man, correction a minority of color. Whites, with a few exceptions, will never understand. I have great respect for those that think this behavior by cops is out of control. Why don't we start with body cameras. Make them mandatory, if a cop does anything without his/her cam on, it cannot be upheld in court. When Sean Hannity describes how he shows the officer his gun, I’m reminded of Philando Castile. I wonder if he was upset about that lawful gun owner being shot and killed by a police officer?

    I'd always get a short clip of Jon Stewart's show during the South Park post-credits but never got around to watching it. At the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak I began watching John Oliver's Last Week Tonight because he had a neat little mini-series of episodes pertaining to the Coronavirus and the handling of the lockdown in various countries. After a number of other episodes I lost interest and, out of curiosity, began watching these clips of the Daily Show. Needless to say I'm sad to have missed a true TV comedy legend and heavy-hitter. Please come back Mr. Stewart!
