The D.O.C. Details Damaging His Voice in Car Accident
Ойын-сауық
www.vladtv.com - In November 1989, Tracy Lynn Curry, better known by his stage name The D.O.C., was involved in a near fatal car accident after falling asleep at the wheel which damaged his vocal chords, but later changed his fast pace lifestyle, which he claims is the reason he's living today.
The "No One Can Do It Better" rapper says that he was driving through Beverly Hills after leaving a party inebriated and says that he was stopped by police after running a red light. Although, he says he led them on a mini chase, he tells us he was free to go after telling some jokes and taking photos.
"If they'd took me to jail that night, I probably wouldn't be here today." He explained to us that the car accident that happened shorty after altered his reckless lifestyle, "At the rate I was going, nobody could tell me anything at that point."
The 47-year-old recounts falling asleep in his car before he slammed into a divider in which he "flew out the back window of the car and ended up in a tree." He tells us that the accident was so severe that he woke up without his teeth and received vocal damage form medical procedures and actions he took "trying to expedite the health process."

I know he caused his crash but man this is one of the saddest hip hop stories out there. He was going to do big things The DOC was a beast.

I’m a young cat at 22 watching this, getting my rap history tip in check. i have to say this has to be one of the saddest stories I’ve ever heard, so candid man. it takes a lot to sit there and recall those final moments before such a life altering experience. when he says “that record was huge and we weren’t even trying but if we had just had the chance to sit down and try” like his expression and pause after messes me up… God bless you D.O.C. you deserved more and reading through these comments assures me that everyone agrees and definitely gives you your flowers

I remember kicking it with him before ...and after ..the accident. I remember the heavy feeling driving by where it happened. I was living the “hip hop dream life” and docs accident was one of the few things that made me think about real consequences. The other was when Scott la Rock died ..I’d talked to him a week before..on the phone.. and it tripped me out to think that he was dead. I’m almost 50 now and I’ve lived in a small mountain town in nor cal for over 25 yrs..it’s like 93%white. Once every ten years or so I get to trip someone out by saying shit like “so..I was in the studio with Dre one time..”. Other than that all my old stories and crazy life are useless. Nice to hear from doc. He was always a quiet dude. Stay up homie

His real voice is the one he continuously uses. The change in voicing is likely due to position of his head and proximity to the neck creating compensation of the vocal cord to adduct (come to midline closure) at that moment creating a less strained, raspy, and breathy vocal quality. He likely has had vocal therapy extensively and intensively
Not tryna start nothing but at 3:25 his voice come back a little then goes back out
