The D.O.C. Speaks On "No Vaseline" & His Friendship w/ Ice Cube

Ойын-сауық

www.vladtv.com - The legendary D.O.C. sat down with VladTV this time around to discuss his relationship with Ice Cube and the rest of N.W.A. after the group separated. As far as Dr. Dre is concerned, the superproducer remains in good graces with the Dallas native. "Dre is my guy," D.O.C. told DJ Vlad during their talk.
When it comes to Ice Cube, "he's one of the great ones. He's definitely one of the G.O.A.T.s.," said The D.O.C. Once the infamous group disbanded and made diss tracks towards one another the tension went through the roof between them, although D.O.C. says it wasn't fully intentional. "We weren't like that," he began. "Even if that's what happened, we weren't like that. Maybe a couple of those guys felt some kind of way, but I like Cube. I f**k with Cube all the way."
When asked why he felt Cube didn't call him out on "No Vaseline," he said "at that time I was a disabled rapper, I couldn't fight back. So, he would've seemed like a bully to push me around...I'm hoping that's what it was. Either way, I'm glad he left D.O.C. out the picture."
Hear The D.O.C. discuss members of N.W.A. in detail and more in our latest VladTV exclusive.

    D.O.C. had better word play than Cube but Cube was more creative with his subject matter. All Cubes stuff was vivid and colorful . Dopeman, Bitch iz a Bitch, I aint the one really clear and candid with the pictures he painted. D.O.C. was kickin some corny bs raps with his Fila Fresh Crew when cube was droppin gems. D.O.C. got way better when he went solo though.

  • @KazenoniKakuremi

    @KazenoniKakuremi

    6 жыл бұрын

    Dude without the accident...he would have gone solo like cube....and killed NWA in the process as he was the last lyricist .... which would also mean he may never have followed Dre to death row and if he did he would've been the labels major star...which will affect Snoop's career. As there would've been less urgency to find new stars and develop them. Doggystyle would've had to wait till 'the recognized star D.O.C music gets priority...he may even have been given all the beats from doggystyle for his first Album on death row. .. Which then means Snoop is the 2nd superstar as opposed to 1st....resulting in less urgency to find another i.e Tupac. Without the urgency, PAC would've been out of jail...and scooped up by another label or stayed with Interscope Dre may still have left, but he may not have gone to aftermath or contributed to all the classics that came post-deathrow I'm actually NOT sure Dre would have had the courage to leave everything (song rights, beats etc) and start clean at aftermath, if he didn't have DOC to bounce ideas off or work on the early songs ...also remember DOC from Dallas...and dated Erykah Badu (also from Dallas) for a while....after she dated one of the outkast....so with the dirty south craze that popped off in late 90s to early-to-mid 2000 Strong chances he would have moved back to texas and worked more with the likes of UGK and geto boys and outkast via badu connection....or stayed with deathrow..... I'm not sure, but I think he was able to deal with Suge bullsh88 Also later down the timeline....given Scarface and Pac were super close....he would've had the opportunity to work together ...Actually this scenario would make for a good 'what if' youtube video like, people post regarding NBA trades. But this one even just freestyling like above...seems like a complex web of possibilities spawning from a healthy D.O.C scenario...a real butterfly wings type sh88.... To really complicate sh88...the real rick ross was looking to buying a record label...he wanted death row while in jail...till he realized it was already being funded by a major drug king-pin friend of his....but he would've funded a label....If D.O.C decided to go start his own pre or post deathrow...

    The D.O.C. always got the short end of the stick, and never gets the respect and the credit that he rightfully deserves, for his contributions to this genre and art form, that me, and many others, all love to death, and are extremely passionate about. He's not considered an official member of NWA, even though, he wrote a lot of shit, just for the group. A lot of dope shit, too, I might add. Also, people hardly mention him, when discussing Death Row artist's, and shit. He was right there, with Dre (and Snoop), the whole time, since the beginning. I'll always acknowledge him as both, an original NWA member and an original Death Row artist. Most importantly, I'll always acknowledge him as a great writer and rapper, and all around, fucking Hip-Hop legend, in general, who, unfortunately, had a bad, drunk, car accident, that seriously ended up effecting his voice, and made him not be able to do something that he loves, which is, to not be able to rap and/or record, and create music. Such a tragic thing, but, in the end, I'm sure it helped him, to clean himself up, and get his life back together, to make himself become a better man, and a humble human being, not involved in any crazy drama. I love, admire, and respect that so much. DOC will forever be the shit, and an inspiration, as well. Much love!

    Also, not hating on Yella or anything (I like him), but, he didn't ever rap or write, at all, while in the group, and yet, he's always been considered an actual member of the group, with Eazy, Cube, Dre, and Ren, who all rapped (yes, even Dre). So, anyway, my point is, since DJ Yella, who wasn't a rapper or a writer, was still always acknowledged as an official NWA member, but, why wasn't The D.O.C.? Why didn't DOC ever get to rap on any NWA songs, and why wasn't he ever shown, like, on album covers, and in music videos and interview's, and all of that good shit?
