It wasn´t on Faith actually (released after the album), only on the re-released special edition

Probably my favourite vocal by Robert Smith, like the distillation of his vocal style

Robert's music influences ranged from Pete Shelley's Buzzcocks, Joy Division and New Order( The Walk was a musical derivative of Blue Monday) Siouxsie and the Banshees and Cocteau Twins...As The Cure progressed you can hear the changes as in this period it seems it was Joy Division. I love Robert's use of books and also his own dreams/ nightmares to create such great songs. And always his grouping of musicians throughout his career to suit each phase of The Cure is flawless!

This one and a Forest rescue me and takes me to another place and plane unknown. Music today will never have this effect.

Faith is considered one of The Cure's darkest albums. It truly is. Even the sound production is just so gothic sounding and dense. Charlotte Sometimes is a classic. The video is pretty amazing, too

It is a single loose, it does not belong to any album.

Great reaction to a song I’ve loved for years but never really fully investigated the background of, check out The Sisters of Mercy - Walk Away or No Time to Cry, they used a Drum Machine and even named it Doctor Avalanche

You should listen to the version on Concert - The Cure Live, from 1984. It’s beautiful.

You gotta do “One Hundred Years” which is on their fourth album Pornography. Truly one of a kind track and album and is arguably the cure at their darkest! Loved the reaction as well!

The early Cure are all about Bass, between their second album 17seconds 1980 and Disintegration in 1989, Robert Smith composed the majority of his songs on Bass, he returned to guitar composition in 1992 for Wish.... the start of the end in a certain way.... Faith 1981 and Pornography 1982 have certainly the best Bass line at this time and are the most famous bass line for post punk fans, you talk about joy division, and for the Joke The Cure are in a certain way Joy division/New order but with a great singer and real musicians ^^

Part of their dark three: Faith, Seventeen Seconds, and Pornography. All well worth the trouble.

thought since I'm in Australia, you might like to check out an alternative artist Rowland S Howard and his albums Teenage Snuff Film and Pop Crimes. He also wrote Shivers recorded with Nick Cave on vocal in their early band Boys Next Door and later they formed The Birthday Party. Hope you don't mind, just doing my bit for Australian artists.
