Sunk deep in the night I sink in the night Standing alone underneath the sky I feel the chill of ice On my face I watch the hours go by The hours go by. You sleep Sleep in a safe bed Curled and protected Protected from sight Under a safe roof Deep in your house Unaware of the changes at night At night I hear the darkness breathe I sense the quiet despair Listen to the silence At night Someone has to be there Someone has to be there Someone must be there Composers: Laurence Andrew Tolhurst / Matthieu A. So sad Vancouver didn’t get this song in the setlist. 11 year old me played this song over and over again on repeat for a solid six months. He sounds amazing. There’s no other bound that sounds better live than The Cure. They actually sound better live, which is insane. Would be for anybody except Robert, this man has been criminally underrated in his contribution to music and his brilliance. I’d have loved to have seen this tonight. Was hoping we’d get this track, but sadly did not. Still, tonight was the best 3.5 hours I’ve had since June 1 1995.
