Cows tend to be quite friendly and inquisitive, on one of the sites I used to visit the cows would always sneak up on me to give me a lick as I was taking samples.

That’s so lovely, I absolutely love cows. But I’m still wary because as docile as they can be, they’re still the #1 deadly animal in the UK 😬

Yeah, if they get spooked they can panic and run you down if you aren't careful or get unlucky, but in the main I always found them to be delightful and like overgrown labradors. @@Orenjen

@@nicklemming2556 I agree, they’re usually very friendly and sweet. I actually talk about this in my Gritstone Trail video as I see some walkers chased out of a field by a cow! This was because a runner ran through them, when they had their calves too which was silly. They were fine with me beforehand because I walked calmly. As long as people respect them & their space they’ll be fine

Thanks for the video, I will be following this HIke through to the end as I am thinking of doing this hike later in the Year (2024) at the age of 67 yrs old. It looks relaxing, I will be camping along the way and hope to complete it, I have already done the Pennine Way and the C2C so at least I know how to read maps, but much prefer a pocket size Guide Book. any suggestions? but there is no hurry as I am retired after working since 1973. Oh best of luck with it! It's a lovely one. Stake Pass is a bit challenging, much like Lining Crag, but the rest is fairly easygoing in comparison to the C2C I believe. I wild camped the whole way & will be doing it again this year also! I'm thinking of possibly B7Bing it this time round though. You won't be short of places to pitch your tent that's for sure!

Great video, we have a family hiking channel, however I want to do long distance trails solo. I love your enthusiasm for everything outdoors & finally! Someone else who apologises to animals for disturbing them! 😂😂. I’ve subbed to your channel too, as we always support small channels like ours. Love The Shackletons. 😊

it seems the way is not well marked is it. and myself would not have wanted to walk alone trhough so many cows even so i had to do that so often in my native country switzerland where i was sking and cross country skiing and ice skating and also hiking and climbing but i alway made a detour if i was alone and saw so many of them and never would i have crossed a farm with a plaque beware of the dog. you have al lot of courage.

Oh I totally get that, I love cows but I’ve seen people been chased out of fields by them! Not me luckily, but if they have their young with them then I wouldn’t because that’s when they get territorial

Really enjoyed that. Walking this in July and it'll be my fourth long distance walk. Nothing has topped the West Highland Way so far but I think this is going to give it a run for its money. Great content, keep it up. Subscribed 👍

@@Orenjen Great, I'll look out for the video. I hiked it in May 2019. We also have The South Downs Way planned for May this year. I would recommend The Cleveland Way if you haven't already done it. Very local to me, amazing mix of moorland and coastal walking. 👍
