Bluesy, hard, Ian's voice was made for rock and roll tunes like this. And yes, it WILL be killer live. Another great SOLID ROCK AND ROLL album is coming, no one does the in-your-face music like this anymore. Looking forward to the album.

How anyone who even pretends to like the Cult couldn't instantly like this baffles me. It pure cult simple as that! The Album reminds me of Love and Holly Barbarians. Astburys voice is pure coffee gravel silk as ever. He is a total one off

To those saying that the first time you hear it you don't like it and it grows on you.... that's kind of how Bob Rock works. Listen to Hooligan's Holiday by Motley Crue. Took me a few listens to appreciate it but I absolutely love that song now. It's a better album than the one before it but still very good.

I get this! Nice follow-on from the excellent CHOICE OF WEAPON (2012). The Cult finally have a cohesive, consistent team approach and these former pop stars are doing surprising work into their later career. WEAPON is a deep album in a lot of ways, with some of the usual puttering around and experimenting that The Cult do anyway as well. I consider it a very worthy choice (2 disc version). These guys are doing music for music now instead of trying to make an impression in the media (based on some interviews with Ian & still more what I'm hearing in the sound.)

First time I heard it, I thought... "Meh." And I'm a huge fan - second time I heard it, thought it was just OK, 3rd and 4th time starts to grow on you, but the music overpowers Ian's voice - usually Duffy/Astbury are at their best when Billy's guitar and Ian's voice blend together to form a unique sounding instrument which is the essence of the Cult. I feel that's missing here, I don't think it's bad, but I don't think it's all that memorable either... Curious and hopeful about the rest of the new album...

Cult seems to want to go back to the (for the punked style) legendary and best 1994 S/T album but they never really reach further back than "Born Into This" which never catched me... I miss this troubled Astbury guy FUCKING RAGING deep down from his heart and soul... Way too polished now.

It is a sad day. I never thought I'd say this. As a lifelong Cult devotee, the latest offering which undoubtedly took long hours of blood, sweat and tears is yet again a mediocre 'rock' type mish-mash of forgetfulness. I may be old, but how I yearn to hear Ian's distinctive voice, clarity of lyrics along with words that actually mean something. Perhaps the world has moved on? Who can forget the evocative and iconic Wolf Child's Blues, IF and Star among many many others. This long awaited CD will be consigned to the dustbin of rock anonymity. The likes of She Sells Sanctuary are long gone and will never be repeated......but please, please find your original enthusiasm and be different once again. Thanks to Darren Brown of Ballyclare High School for introducing me to the real music of The Cult & The Damned. I am forever grateful.Chris

it raw and feels unfinished. maybe if it was mixed in dublin . . . i do like the upbeat tempo. I agree with Darren Miles, the guitar isn't as bright as it could be. but who can complain. I'm very fortunate that my favorite band of all time is still putting out fresh new tunes that are consistently relevant. 30 years of great music. Thank you Cult!

Truth is...sorry friends...the self titled disc and "Born", in my opinion...are barely even "memorable" records from a "writing" standpoint. Well, I don't think this song has peaked at all. I just find a bit of mystique in the chorus - guitar chords and voice melody- that's it. Not really sure if they chose this song as single as they might have record company like a pain in the ass - but guess I'm gonna have to wait till february to find out if the record holds the kinda power Cult's always delivered thru years. Again, 'bout this song: You can get used to it if you hear it more and more, but we all know when something peaks or not, don't we?

Hi Kelly, your message is interesting, obrigado! I wouldn't normally write a negative comment and least of all about a band I've loved since I was a kid... but sometimes you can't divorce politics from aesthetics and this video appalled me. I'll probably buy the album, I'll never stop wearing my Sonic Temple t-shirt, but I cannot 'just ignore' this glorification of such a vicious, petty travesty as bull 'fighting.' The hell with that.

When will Cult fans admit that they heard Electric and because that one album was so mind blowing that the fans emotionally bonded with the band, but the band never lived up to the myth. It's because Electric was partly The Cult, but a whole lot due to the producer. Every new album we think, "This is it. They're going to blow our minds." but they never do.
