@@mirandamarshall3584 because that baby is not theirs, it is a cuckoo, the parents lay eggs in other birds nests so they don't need to raise it and then the cuckoo when it hatches pushes the other babies out the nest

the parents did nothing to stop the invading cuckoo chic from trying to throw their own chics out of their own nest, if it hasn't been for those logs that protected the host chics. Bird brain indeed, when the cuckoo chic got tired of pushing unsuccessfully to throw the host chics out it goes under the host mother bird to recover and energize to starts again while the parent watch.

It doesn't. The coockoo chick's instinct is to push any round object out of the nest. It doesn't understand the object is another egg or bird. It will push anything that fits the description. Like a human baby will suck on anything nipple shaped. You can put pebbles and berries in the nest and a cookie which will do the same thing to them.

Well the cuckoo bird I know about. But in my 30 years of life and being an avid bird lover , I’ve never ever heard of the term “ poop sack” nor know wth it is . But I guess it’s like a way of cleaning the newborns , such as a mother dog or cat will do when cleaning their infant offspring .
